Hello likethat, I think you are jumping to the spiritual realm too quickly. It means literal serpents and scorpions. There is no reason to think differently. The Lord Jesus gave this power to a certain number of disciples for a certain time frame. Steve |

how come paul had the same power/authority? (remember he was bitten by a snake) and he was not part of the twelve. and if you read luke chapter 10 through to verse 19,20 you read that Jesus sent out the seventy to heal the sick and then the seventy returned(luke 10 v 17) with great joy saying that even the demons were cast out in Jesus name.and it was after that, that Jesus said I saw satan fall like lightning and then proceded to tell them (the seventy) that they had been given the authority to stand on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the evil one and they will not be harmed. i do not read that the seventy left, or that only the twelve came back to him. this portion of scripture suggests quite plainly that Jesus did not only rely on the twelve, but Jesus had a lot more diciples than just the twelve. and i count myself as one who does the same work as the seventy and therefor i have the same mandate in this time and age as they had and the same authority. i thank you for your input searcher56 your brother in Christ likethat |
