1 | Why did this man need a second touch ? | Mark 8:25 | Hank | 158151
Mark7: "...the indwelling of the Holy Spirit as evidenced by speaking in tongues." I can't seem to find Scripture to fit this idea exactly. ..... Do you intend this to mean that regenerate believers who don't 'speak in tongues' -- by which I assume you mean ecstatic utterances -- are not indwelt by the Holy Spirit? Whatever your answer, please cite Scripture so we can follow along. ...... Noting your pejorative on 'scholarly writings,' I take it that you have read a large number of these classics of Christian thought and found them wanting? --Hank

Yes, there is a difference between the activity of the Holy Spirit in the life of every believer and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in the believer as a result of receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit. See especially the book of Acts and the Pauline epistles. I don't know about "ecastatic utterances". I don't think this term is in the Bible and it sounds pergoritve to me. By "tongues" I meant another language, as in "the tongues of men and angels." |
