2 | What are God's "things?" | Mark 12:17 | New Creature | 116165 | ||
1 Cor. 2:11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. 1 Cor. 2:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 1 Cor. 2:13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 1 Cor. 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. Some of the things of God, are the mind of God, discernment, wisdom, knowledge, through God's Spirit, we also become aware of our need of a Savior, and of our lost condition. Our need of salvation, etc. Col. 3:1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Col. 3:2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. Things above - things heavenly, things eternal that moth or rust cannot corrode, things which fully satisfy the child of God. As in contrast to the things of earth which are temporary and can never fully satisfy |

Greetings New Creature - thanks for the references. Yes, the things of God are indeed, spiritually discerned and because the man without the Spirit can not know the mind of God, apart from Him, man values the wrong "things." As I considered this verse in the context of the coin and the "likeness" of Ceaser - what is in God's "likeness?" Might our understanding of man being made in the "likeness" or "image" of God, (Gen 1:26) possibly change the way that we see one another - might it also cause us to really "value" human life (as we value the coin)? We are "image-bearers" of God! Abortion? Infanticide? Euthanasia? How often do we consider cost rather than "value" in these choices? Do we value life as God does? Have we considered the REAL cost of a human life? God paid it- once, for all! Might this also change the way that we relate to others? And as for us as believers, let us not forget that we are not our own, we were bought with a price (1 Cor 6:20; 7:23). Indeed, we belong to God. Comments? Blessings, mommapbs |
