1 | Matt. 7:6 ???? | Matt 7:1 | jesusfreakmsw | 99608
In the NASS version, which I used for the answer, verse 6 was included under the subject. To explain my self further, I agree with what you said about people being quick to judge. I should have said that, too. People can apply this verse to many things in life while keeping the contextualmeaning. For instance, some may use it as a guide for pointing out in people's lives sin after they themselves have dealt with it Scripturally as you said. But in another instance, it meant to me personally that i am sometimes to quick to judge others in my family the same sins I am still struggling with, only on a different level. The verse regarding giving what is holy to dogs and pigs meant to me something different. For example, my mother is in the "valley part of her walk". I recently came out of the "valley" point and she asked me how I can possibly be so joyful and praising an "abandoning God". I told her I was walking closely with Him and receiving His blessings. I aslo asked her how she couldn't do the same. SHe told me how she felt, and I got impatient and told her she needed to repent of a sin I am daily working through God with. Being at two ifferent points, she called me a hypocrite because she saw me stumbling with this sin a lot this summer. When the Spirit convicts us of a sin, this is a Holy conviction, and the holy response is repentance. "Don't give what is Holy to the dogs . . ." I belive that if a brethren is given into sin, and he/she is "handed over to Satan for testing (Paul mentions this somewhere, if you know please let me know, or I'll post it later)" the dogs may refer to the opression coming from the enemy during the testing period. The personal conviction is holy, so if it is thrown to the dogs, this opens an opportunity for them to test you. All because the personal , (I should say Holy Spirit's conviction) conviction was handled in an ungodly way: through criticism and judgement. If I am still not clear, email me at hestialupin@yahoo.com. Another applicable verse is Eph. 6:12 "For this battle is not against flesh and blood, but against . . .the evil forces in the heavenly realms." NASB

It was man who divided Scripture ... into chapters - verses - sections. You didn't answer my questions ... nor do you apparently understand what He meant ... including what dogs and hogs meant to the listeners.

Stephen Langton divided the Bible into chapters in 1227. Robert Stephanus divided the verses for his Greek New Testament in 1551 ... the Old Testament in 1571. |
