Hello Diva, my answer to that question is supported by Christ and the day He resurrected. We all have no doubt that He resurrected on a Sunday and died on a Friday. According to Matt 28:1 two mary's went to His tomb after Sabbath, which at the time was considered Saturday. The English word doesn't really capture that in the Title but many languages do for example Sabado is the word for Saturday in spanish. Other things to consider is that the Jews have been always keeping the Sabbath if not correctly then at least continually. There has never been a break away from Sabbath keeping from the Jews. In Hebrew the titles for the day's of the week are based on how many day's remain until sabbath. Friday being the day of sabbath preparation. As far as we know the same Sabbath Christ kept was the Sabbath Kept by the Hebrew in the time of Moses, who for six day's collected manna in the wilderness, and rested from collecting food on Sabbath. The decalogue affirms that the fourth commandment is based on God resting after creation and sanctifying the day or making it Holy "for His use". Which is confirmed with the creation account in Genesis. I hope I was helpful. Your Brother in Christ, Harold |
