Subject: A Graphic Illustration |
Bible Note: Greetings All! There has been quite a bit of discussion about the chronology of the resurrection accounts over the past few days. Tonight, I put down a graphical illustration to demonstrate which parts of the account each Gospel includes and which parts of the account each Gospel excludes. Remember, no historian is obligated to tell every detail of an historical event. He is only obligated to be factual in what he does record. Thus, there are some episodes in the resurrection account which some authors do not mention, while there are some episodes in the resurrection account which some authors do mention. Here is my attempt to graphically illustate this point. A) The first trip to the tomb. B) The first encounter with the angels. C) The trip back to tell the disicples. D) Peter and John's trip to the tomb. E) The second encounter with the angels. F) Jesus appears to the women. G) The second trip back to tell the disiciples. Using these letters to graphically illustrate the chronology: John includes: A, C, D, E, F, G. Luke includes: A, B C, D, G. Mark includes: A, B, C (in the short ending), G (in the long ending) Matthew includes: A, B, C, F, G. I hope this helps! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
