1 | IS PETER | Matt 16:18 | elbib | 783
Peter's name is stone or SMALL rock hardly a foundation. Christ is the foundation of the church and there can only be one foundation. what Jesus means is what Peter said JESUS IS THE SON OF GOD its that statement that the church is to be built on. Jesus is the son of God that came to earth to die for our sins then rise and return to heaven to sit at the right hand of the father. If Peters statement was not true how could the life and death of Jesus mean anything. elbib |

2 | IS PETER | Matt 16:18 | jorgeben | 25393
Actually, Peter (Greek, Petra) (Latin Petram) is a specific kind of stone used for the laying of the foundation of a house, upon whcih the walls are built. The corner stone (Jesus) is a special kind of stone which is set up on the corner of two walls so that the two rest on solid ground. So, the foundation stone is Peter upon which Jesus will build HIS church. Why should Jesus rename Simon (son of Jonah) "Kepha" (aramaic) stone if He is going to refer something else as a stone? |
