4 | pay or not to pay | Jer 27:6 | dnewland | 170746
Does it not say both? To pay taxes, but to not accept, participate, or commit murder. That's why it seems what Paul is saying in Romans contridicts to the will of God in the OT which prohibits murder by anyone under the Ten commandments. Im just saying it's pretty confusing. It's not as clear cut as Paul would describe in Romans. Would you support a Hitler, or would you rebel? |

5 | pay or not to pay | Jer 27:6 | dnewland | 170747
Would all the great reformers of time been in rebellion to God? Wasn't Jesus himself consider a rebel among the authorities of his day? Or what about when pharisees where asking Jesus about healing on Sabbath day? It was against the law to work and heal I presume? Many questions??? |

6 | Confusing | Jer 27:6 | dnewland | 170748
I guess my ultimate question in Romans 13 question is when do men obeying God's laws supercede man's when it's in conflict to God's law. ( for ex. in a hitler -style regime what if you were told to kill Christians. Would you have to obey Paul in Romans or half the Bible elswhere where it says to love your brother. ) How could Paul have stopped killing Christians, as law must have prescribed when he was Saul before his conversion and be Christ-like at same time.) Romans 13 seems to leave that out of the question, and would contradict us living out a Christian life making us choose things that would not be of God's will according to OT. (ten commandments) |

7 | Confusing | Jer 27:6 | DocTrinsograce | 170749
Dear dnewland, Confusion always reigns when considering a passage in an isolated way. Consider all of the other passages that have bearing on a question like this. Aren't we to walk in wisdom and understanding? Don't we have many examples (Joseph, Moses, Daniel, Jeremiah, Christ, the apostles, etc.) of men who knew when and where to draw the line? Don't we have a Father who will grant us wisdom when we ask? Our faith is not a faith of knee-jerk rules. Rather it is a faith of careful thought, contemplation, and prayer. In Him, Doc |
