1 | TNIV: How Will It Affect Us? | Prov 30:6 | Hank | 33331
The announcment of the forthcoming publication of Today's New International Version (TNIV) is creating quite a controversy among Christians, especially evangelicals. Do you feel that this will have any effect on the Bible buying public in the way they may view new translations in general? Will it lead to a trend away from "dynamic equivalent" and paraphrased versons and toward conservative and literally accurate versions? Will it cast doubt upon the motives and integrity of translation committees and Bible publishers? --Hank
2 | TNIV: How Will It Affect Us? | Prov 30:6 | Makarios | 33332
Greetings Hank! I certainly hope that the effect of the TNIV will cause us all to be much more 'wary' of Bible translations! I can only pray that the effect of the TNIV will "backfire", leading to the abandonment of "gender-inclusive" language within Scripture, and lead us back to conservative traditional versions. I believe that the motives and integrity of translations committees have already been challenged! Praise the Lord that those who can and will challenge these committees do take a stand and show their collective voice of outrage against this planned destruction of God's Word. I no longer respect the Zondervan/IBS team, and the NCCC has never really gained my respect. There is no such thing as a masculine "gender-biased" translation!!! Blessings to you, Makarios |
