What is meant by: the answer of the tongue is from the LORD?
2 | What is meant here? | Prov 16:1 | jow1971 | 121382
Take a look at these verses... Proverbs 1 7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. Proverbs 3 5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. 1 Corinthians 1:25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man's strength. I believe God has given mankind knowledge up to a point since we are created in his image...but that of course will only take us up to a point. As we grow in God he will be faithful to give us a greater insight into his person. Romans 12:2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will. As he changes us from the inside out he can then begin to use us as his vessels to spread his word (not our own) from a perspective not of man but inspired by the Holy Spirit. See verses below... 2 Samuel 23:2 "The Spirit of the LORD spoke through me; his word was on my tongue. (NIV) Luke12 (Jesus said) 11"When you are brought before synagogues, rulers and authorities, do not worry about how you will defend yourselves or what you will say, 12for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you should say." I thought this was a good example of how God changed a man (Isaiah) and used him as his faithful mouthpiece despite all the opposition of the false prophets around him.... Isaiah 6 4 At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke. 5 "Woe to me!" I cried. "I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the LORD Almighty." 6 Then one of the seraphs flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. 7 With it he touched my mouth and said, "See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for." 8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" And I said, "Here am I. Send me!" ...and we know how Isaiah went to God's chosen people and delivered God's warning of pending judgment but also of God's mercy. To sum up my understanding of this verse, I think that if God has control of our tongues, as he should, he will "make wise the simple" (Psalm 19:7) And if God was able to speak through a donkey to save his master Balaam's life (Num 22), I'm sure he wants to speak through us to the lost... Bringing the clarity and wisdom of the Gospel message to a very mixed up world. I believe the only real wisdom that we can cling to in this world is found in Jesus Christ. For he is the Way, the Truth and the Life (John 14:6). I hope this helps a little! :) |

3 | What is meant here? | Prov 16:1 | oneistruth | 121385
Hellow , my name is Don . I have read a few of your postings and seem to be a little confused as to weather you are speeking your own opinion or someone elses . Your use of Scripture shows that you do a lot of reading , and this is good , yet you yourself say that you ( only think ) when you answere . Myself , I try very hard not to post my opinions , for the reason of being bias . I THINK that any thing we say is bias , therefore in error , when concerning the TRUTH ( and I did say WE )so I feel that we should let Scripture answere . Let the FATHER be the TRUTH and every man a lier , well who is the TRUTH . Is it man's opinion , or want to be decernment , or a dream he had , or an experiance , what ever . There is only one TRUTH , HE is the MASSIAH , the Son of the MOST HIGH . I wait your response , and ask that you not take this post as an attack , for it is not . A brother in the TRUTH , don

And hello to you, Don. My name is Hank. Your concerns about allowing personal bias and opinion to have the upper hand are not unfounded, whether it is the Forum that you have in mind or whether it is preaching and teaching in the big world outside the pages of this Forum. Anyone who endeavors to teach the word of God by the written or spoken word in any environment has an enormous responsibility to preach the word, as Paul charged Timothy -- the word of God, not the word and opinion of man. On this Forum, in Bible study classrooms, in the church pulpit, one should teach nothing that cannot be authenticated by Scripture. It is always preferable to be able to preface one's remarks with "The Bible says..." than with "My opinion is..." Bible students want Bible answers, not the half-baked opinion of someone who has more need to learn than qualifications to teach. ..... Welcome, Don. --Hank

Nice to hear from you Hank . I realize that I come across with what I say quite abruptly and do apologize . I study the WORD continually and have done so for many years , I usually stay away from any other sorse of teaching ( books , sermons , Theological ideas and concepts , new prophacies etc. ) If it is not in Scripture as far back as Genesis , and not as Isaiah 28 teaches refering to line upon line and precept upon precept , I usually throw it out . I rather throw mans words out , because for so many years I listened and trusted them only to find out that most do not have any meat in their teaching atall , in fact they are hardy drinking milk and claim they already have a calling . Thank you for your reply . don
6 | What is meant here? | Prov 16:1 | Hank | 121410
Yes, Don, I quite agree with you that there are a lot of preachers and teachers out there who proclaim a pale version of the gospel of Christ, if any at all. One has to be careful and do as the Bereans did, search the Scriptures to determine whether what he hears squares with the word of God. But we should not discredit all preachers, all sermons, all expository and exegetical books, articles, and commentaries. There are many godly scholars past and present from whose long and dedicated labors of love in Christ's vineyard we can learn much. But we must learn how to separate the wheat from the chaff. --Hank
7 | What is meant here? | Prov 16:1 | oneistruth | 121420
Yes Hank I agree with what you are saying , but as of now I have little trust in any mans wisdom including my own for it belongs to this world , unless we can show that it is of Scripture ( TRUTH ) that is being put across . I will give you an example . Many years I wondered why Noah cursed Cannan , and could not get any answers . I questioned many and none new the reason , or made up something to go along with what I had asked . Not so much purposely yet believing in what they offered was truth . Any way around that same time in my life I decided the heck with preachers and world teaching and sank all my spare time into reading the Scripture for myself , not being swayed by man or his teachings . The first 3 or 4 times I read through the Bible I got quite frustrated and let off some steam , then it came to me that we were to love the FATHER with all our heart mind and soul and seek all things . then prayer came into my life more and more , then answers started coming slowly , but they started coming and have not stopped . I read in Isaiah 28:9-14 who one could recieve wisdom ( line upon line , precept upon precept ) and who would recieve wisdom and why most would not . Then in Matthew 13:10-15 , parables are explained as well as who would understand and who would not understand , even though they have been told . Then in Colossians 2 I learned that all treasures were in the Messiah . Well any way , after many close answers to my Noah's question , it was answered as plain as day after reading line after line and being so close that finaly the answer appeared Leviticus 20:11 . Since then every answer has been just as clear , even though I had read it so many times prior , it did not stick out as it did when the ALMIGHTY answered . May be you already knew the answer to the question I was refering to , if so then you know where I'm coming from . I have many questions that Scripture has answered the same way , most will not like the answers because it will not tickle there ears . Sorry for rambling , and thank you for listening . A brother in the Messiah , don
