1 | Does God hate people? Psalm 5:5 | Ps 5:5 | andreaparker | 139694
In Psalms 5:5 it says "The arrogant cannot stand in your presence; you hate all who do wrong." Does God really hate people? I thought it was supposed to go "hate the sin, love the sinner" ??? |

2 | Does God hate people? Psalm 5:5 | Ps 5:5 | srbaegon | 139695
Hello andreaparker, Look at the context of the verse (from ESV): 4 For you are not a God who delights in wickedness; evil may not dwell with you. 5 The boastful shall not stand before your eyes; you hate all evildoers. 6 You destroy those who speak lies; the Lord abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man. Notice the descriptors: boastful, liars, bloodthirsty, deceitful. This is not your typical "man on the street" who sins without thinking. This is describing the one who who goes out of his way to do wickedness and is proud of it. That's who God hates. Steve |

3 | Does God hate people? Psalm 5:5 | Ps 5:5 | hopalong | 216748
Are we not all evildoers? I know that I am. Rom 7:14 For we know that the Law is spiritual, but I am of flesh, sold into bondage to sin. Rom 7:15 For what I am doing, I do not understand; for I am not practicing what I would like to do, but I am doing the very thing I hate. Rom 7:16 But if I do the very thing I do not want to do, I agree with the Law, confessing that the Law is good. Rom 7:17 So now, no longer am I the one doing it, but sin which dwells in me. Rom 7:18 For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh; for the willing is present in me, but the doing of the good is not. Rom 7:19 For the good that I want, I do not do, but I practice the very evil that I do not want. |
