1 | There is no impossible with GOD? | Ps 34:8 | fatherchuck | 17059
I know this isn't fair, but He did die, on a cross in Jerusalem, about 2000 years ago. But He just was to full of Life to stay dead. |

It is not only, not fair but it is not correct. God didn't die on the cross, the humanity of Jesus died. That's why God had to become a man, because God can't die. God was in Christ reconciling the World to Him self. God's Messiah died, not God! Look up the doctrine of the Hypostatic Union. The word translated death, in the English was the Greek word, THANATOS, It actually meant separation. I.e. physical death is when your soul leaves your body. Spiritual death, as mentioned in Rom. 6:23 (A) For the wages of sin is death. This is in ref. to being separated from God. Therefore the wages of sin is separation from God. Jesus Christ paid this price while on the cross at the ninth hour when our sins were poured out on Him. He screamed out in Matt. 27:46 (My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?) While Jesus was hanging on the cross, He actually died twice. The first time was for out sins. John 19:30 spells is out very clearly. The word that Christ used for, it is finished was the Greek word, TELEO. The etymology of the word teleo, shows that this was a term used in the ancient slave markets to signify that the desired price for a slave was paid and the transaction was over, they would always say TELEO. Christ has actually purchased us from the slave market of sin by paying the price demanded by God, which was separation from Him. That's why the issue now isn't sin, but Jesus Christ and believing in Him for salvation. After Christ work was finished He died physically. It is to be noted in John 19:30 that Jesus said it is finished before he gave up his spirit. The results are, Christ was born once and died twice; believers are born twice and die once. Fatherchuck, I read all of your comments on your personal profile and I must say that I have learned a few things from some of your threads. It is nice when we can edify one another in the Body. The Lord uses all the members to that extent. If we could just obey the command to ( study to show thyself approved unto God a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.) By adding this to an attitude like they had in Berea; where they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, to see if the things that were spoken, were inline with other scripture, we would all be a lot wiser. Yours in Christ, CDBJ
