1 | Praise Dance Wrong Worship? | Ps 149:3 | stjohn | 205674 | ||
Brother Jeff: You wrote: " While I prepared the massages with fervent prayer and lengthy committed study... I wonder just how much I detracted from His message out of concern for my own presentation. " Brother I've been in the same boat, though to my shame, I don't believe I gave it all that much effort, I can say, without wondering, when I reflect back, and to my discredit, I was indeed more worried about how I looked , much more so than I was about how, "He" looked. We are after all, still SO human: aren't we...... Only once was I able, by His grace, and His grace alone, to give out a message that was more about Him, and to my shock, it was actually received with applause! It was very humbling, by the way. It really made me look inside. What I did learn though, is that, I'm pretty sure that I'm no preacher. God bless John |

Yes John, and we can be grateful to those whom He has called to that ministry. Jeff |

Amen to that, Jeff, very grateful. I believe too, Sir, that, 1Cor 12:4-12 covers what comes to my mind, v4-7 pretty clearly says that God is the one, and that God surely is the one, who sovereignly does the administering of those callings -- "Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are varieties of ministries, and the same Lord. There are varieties of effects, but the same God who works all things in all persons. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good."-- than as we know Paul goes on to describe a rather short list of callings, or, ministers, and than v 11-12 once again declares to us God's "sovereignty" in making those decisions, and our unity in all of this, with each-other, and in Christ. --"But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills. For even as the body is one and yet has many members, and all the members of the body, though they are many, are one body, so also is Christ."-- Anyway, Jeff, I guess my point in all this, is that we have it on a pretty good Scriptural bases, and Scriptural authority, for not worrying whether we are good preachers or not. Thanks Jeff, for bringing that up, it brought me back to something that had been kinda bothering me, but not no more! :-) God bless John |
