2 | is masterbation a sin? | Galatians | popdzl | 43097
This is a very good question which touches on at least two aspects of sin. When one is engaged in the act of masterbation, there is at least the physical desire to ejaculate which one might consider fornication hence a lusting of the flesh and thus a sin; commonly, the act involves either looking at or visualizing an object which would fill the mind and thus the heart with lustful desires and this makes the act covetous (because one desires something out of the lust of the flesh) and thus a sin. Jesus states (Mt 5:28) that even if looking at a woman (object) with lust in your heart, one has committed adultery (coveted). This is why we are to try to keep our minds free of sinful and evil thoughts; eventually, theses thoughts find there way into the heart.
3 | What if you visualize your wife? | Galatians | Steve V. | 71216
What about if you are visualizing your wife that you have recently divorced due to her cheating on you and you are still actively trying to work things out with? We are putting God first this time and have been "hanging out" for a little over a month and have not even kissed yet..
4 | What if you visualize your wife? | Galatians | Makarios | 71221
Steve, I will pray for you and your wife, that the Lord will reconcile you both back together again in marriage. Divorce is displeasing to God (Malachi 2:13-16). Jesus spoke about divorce (Matthew 19:3-9; Mark 10:11-12), and so did Paul (Romans 7:1-3; 1 Corinthians 7:10-11). I also believe that divorce is very hurtful for any children that are involved (1 Corinthians 7:14), and I cannot find any Scripture verses that mention divorce in a "positive" light. I believe that it is God's will for his children not to divorce or to annul a marriage relationship. I believe that masturbation is a sin, but what you really need right now (and need to be focusing on) is some good, Christian counselling from a loving pastor and nurturing church family that will emotionally help and guide you and your wife back to a healthy marriage again. Blessings to you, Makarios |
