1 | How would you respond to their claim? | Romans | lionheart | 168201 | ||
John, You know how Paul talks about disputable matters in Romans 14. We will always have them. But there is one thing that is not disputable.Where God and His Word are concerned truth is absolute whether anyone believes or not. This is why we need to be able to approach people on a heart level.Because the vast majority of the time in spite of the arguements thrown at us it's not the argument in and of itself,it's an underlining heart issue. When we we learn to look beyond the in your face arguments that we will encounter and get to a persons heart because thats where the real answer is then we can help people deal with what there core issue really is. It's usually the heart that is the reason and not necessarily argument itself. The argument can many times can be a smoke screen for whats going on in ones heart. Keep on holding it forth. In Christ, lionheart |

Lionheart I am a sola scriptura guy also. However I do think we need to be creative in gaining an opportunity to actually present the Good News to the lost. Tim 2:24 The Lord's bond-servant must not be quarrelsome, but be kind to all, able to teach, patient when wronged, 2 Tim 2:25 with gentleness correcting those who are in opposition, if perhaps God may grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth, 2 Tim 2:26 and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, having been held captive by him to do his will. Gently correcting those whom are in opposition, seems to me, to indicate that argueing from reason is appropriate. If we are confronted with foolish philosophy should we not be prepared to refute it? Dear John, I'd suggest this page of links: http://www.monergism.com/thethreshold/articles/topic/postmodernism.html It isn't your answer in a nutshell, but I'm afraid that the answers you seek will not be available in a short, concise form. Depending on who you are talking to, it might take a bit more study. I'd be interested in seeing some of the study material that you've found so far. If you don't mind, please contact me via my email address to that end. (It is in my profile.) In Him, Doc |
