Happy New Year to you Azure. Your question is an interesting one. I am slowly going through Hebrews precept upon precept. In it I have learned that the christian life is a journey. We start out as babes in Christ. We are to grow and mature. Just as it is impossible for a newborn baby to stay a child it is impossible for a christian to stay a babe in Christ. As a newborn baby falls many times and makes many mistakes he does reach adulthood. It is a natural process. Also a newborn christian will grow and mature in Christ. He also falls and makes many mistakes. He does mature though. It also is for lack of a better phrase "a natural process". Mark 12:29-34 | ||||||

Dear Val, Happy 2008 to you, too. (I'm already in a beautiful and sunny morning, the first one, of 2008 while you still have an hour or two to go). The old post triggered me to think about how to love God (this I mean in a "practcal?" way - well, this might not the right word) as commanded in the 1st greatest commandment since we cannot see God and Jesus is in heaven. Therefore, the Bible teaches us to walk by faith, not by sight and we are so much blessed as Jesus said in John 20:29. Still, in our daily lives, every moment, how do we follow the 1st greatest commandment? We, human, are always so absent minded and less faith. Then I think of our gracious Lord who also gave us the 2nd one "to love your neighbour as thy self" which leads me to John 21:15-17 where after Peter replied he LOVED Jesus, our Lord told him to tend His sheep; to Matthew 18:5-6 and Matthew 25:37-40. How great and awesome is our Lord that He would not burden us with unbearable load. "His yoke is easy, His burden is light." (out of context from Matthew 11:30) Shalom Azure |

Thank you Azure. The wind is blowing at my door. Its about 35 degrees here. Actually it is about seven or eight hours until morning. It sounds beautiful at your home. My mother taught me to be thankful for the weather no matter whether it rained or was sunny. She was a farmer's wife so she knew how much rain was needed for the crops. In my years the best way I have practically fulfilled the first commandment has been a challenge in my relationship with others. Constant communication with the Lord and a determination not to ruin my witness for Him by not controlling my emotions such as anger and temper. I find the greatest challenge is to bring my thoughts and language into obedience to Him. I agree when the load gets heavy - He carries it for us when we take it to Him in prayer. Daily prayer is the key I believe. Starting the day with Him makes a difference. His yoke is easy when I do not pull in a different direction. That is the challenge too to follow Him and not wander from His path. I believe Paul said it best: live a life worthy of our calling. We are ambassadors for Christ. Kind and tender words go a long way. Praise Him, praise Him Jesus our blessed Redeemer. Ps 19:14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my rock and my Redeemer. Grace and Peace Val |
