1 | Why no sacrifices for Jews today? | Exodus | Greg Martin | 34043 | ||
I have asked an orthodox Jew this question. Her answer, I believe she got it from her Rabbi, was that the sacrifice was now good works. When I asked what prompted the move from the requirement of a blood sacrifice to good works, she said modernization. I did not press the issue by asking how men could "modernize" God's laws, because I had just pressed her on why Genesis 1 uses a plural name for God, Elohim is plural, and why it says "Let Us make Man in Our own image" (Her answer to that, again from her Rabbi, was that it "was a king's we" whatever that means...) I emphasize that I am no expert on Judaism, and any Rabbi will certainly feel free to correct or confirm. |

Hi Greg Martin, Welcome to the forum. Let *us try to tell you what "a king's we" is. Actually I don't know what it is, but that could be the name for it that I was trying to think of several days ago. I don't agree with the rabbi's assessment of the Genesis passage, but I do believe that there are some possible examples of this. I have in mind John 14:31,"...but that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father gave Me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let *Us go from here." From the heart, Ray |
