I would also like (with all due respect) to suggest that it is also poor hermaneutics to suggest demons are merely fallen angels (as you have indicated in your first paragraph). That also is only one theory. Please show me where Scripture indicates angels and demons are one and the same, whether fallen or not? | ||||||

Greetings Gagnon! The evidence is pretty strong that demons are simply fallen angels. 1) Satan is called the prince of Demons - Mt. 12:23-26. 2) The demons (legion) were afraid that Christ was going to send them to the Abyss - Luke 8:30-31. 3) The ruler of the Abyss is called an angel - Rev. 9:11. Thus, these all point to demons being fallen angels who are ruled by Satan, but bound for the Abyss. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

Tim, In his book "They Shall Expel Demons" page 91, Derek Prince states two possible origins of demons: 1. fallen angels associated with Satan in his rebellion against God. 2. disembodied spirits of a pre-Adamic race that perished under some judgement of God not recorded in detail in Scripture. Mr. Prince goes into more detail in his book. He acknowledges that it is impossible to say with certainty which, if either, of these explanations is true. He considers if foolish to pursue the matter much farther than that. However, based on his experience in dealing with them, Mr. Prince tends to beleive demons are the disembodied spirits of a pre-Adamic race. I am challenging the assumption that demons are fallen angels only because scripture does NOT prove this is the case. It is only one possible explanation. Respectfully yours, Galen |

Greetings Galen! I appreciate your response. I haven't posted about the theory of a pre-adamic race before. My basic position is that Scripture doesn't ever teach that there was such a thing. So, I would say that of Mr. Prince's two options, only number one would be possible! I would be interested in what Scripture he provides for a pre-adamic race! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
