1 | Is God's name YHVH or JHVH? | Gen 2:4 | JCrichton | 107462 | ||
Hello, BD@GA! The one source I have is a notation from the "GOOD NEWS BIBLE" (Today's English Version): Genesis 2:4 footnote f: THE LORD: Where the Hebrew text has Yahwey, traditionally transliterated as Jehovah, this translation employes LORD with capital letters, following a usage which is widespread in English versions. (Transliterate--Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary--to represent or spell in the characters of another alphabet.) From this notation I surmise that, though commonly accepted, Jehovah is not the original word--it is Yahweh! God Bless! |

Hello, BD@GA! Again, from the same source: Exodus 3:14 footnote f: I am who I am... I AM; or I will be who I will be... I WILL BE. "I am sounds like the Hebrew name Yahweh traditionally transliterated as Jehovah. Hope this has helped! God Bless! |
