1 | God being lonely? | Gen 1:1 | Mommapbs | 151669 | ||
Angel - The genesis of this thread questioned the nature of God. "Is God lonely?" I commend you for recognizing human loneliness as a symptom of the need for God, but let's be careful when we consider His nature. IMO, your answer: "Lonely? Only in the sense that deep inside we, humanity, long for His companionship!", has the appearance of goodness -man is lonely for God therefore God is lonely (for man), but is this what the Bible says? Does our desire or longing for God make what we think true? (Thy Word is Truth) See Jer 23:28 Thinking that because we are made in His image does not elevate us to be the same - apart from what God has revealed to us about Himself, I believe it is dangerous to ascribe human characteristics to the Godhead Is 55:8-9. Apart from the mind of Christ, our thinking is human, fallen and flawed. Kalos wrote:'God did not lack anything in Himself that prompted His creative act. He wasn't lonely or bored. To say such a thing about Him would be to imply He is not eternally self-sufficient and perfect.' (www.carm.org/questions/whydidGodcreateus.htm) To me, this makes God's love for us even more amzaing! Hi, Mommapbs! Because we yearn for that which we are missing, we can come to believe that it is a reciprocal feeling... however it is not! If you notice my first expressions about God: "God is Omniscient, Omnipotent, and Omnipresent..." anyone reading it would have to understand that in such a being there's no loneliness... Yet, we are creatures of habit and of feelings... sometimes projecting our failures/inadequacies on others and on things and animals... We have a tendency to think that if we feel something the object of that "feeling" is caught in the wake of our feelings... projecting loneliness, as well as other human traits, on to God is an error caused by those who seek to measure God in human terms and condition--yet His Ways are above our ways as high as Heaven is from earth... we can never equate God (lessening Him) to us/our "feelings." If you have read from my post something other than what I have attempted to convey to the originator of this thread, I apologize for not being clear enough... God Bless! Angel |
