Shalom Jessi, The Bible does not tell us what the condition was as that was not the focus of the lesson, and we are not medics with that kind of knowledge here on Bible Study Forum. You might do a google search and find some possibilities. :o) Cheri |

242 | Hell can't be much worse than I feel now | Luke 16:26 | skccab | 193804
Hi Larry, Just remember - while this moment is called TODAY - there is HOPE for TOMORROW. If in heaven - there is no need for HOPE for our hope has been fulfilled. If in hell - there is no HOPE, no TOMORROW - it's eternal, a done deal; and like Brad said, definitely not a place anyone would want to be! Again - while now is called today, hope lives for tomorrow. Shalom Cheri |

243 | Days between the cross and empty tomb | Luke 23:43 | skccab | 186504
Hi Rholliday on another thread we've been discussing this somewhat. Luke 23:43 says Jesus told the thief that he would be with Him that day in Paradise. My take on that is Jesus had to go to Paradise Himself for the thief to be with Him there. And I believe he told those righteous saints that He was the Messiah they had hoped for. Matt. 27:52-53 says the graves of the righteous were opened and they appeard to many. My take on that one is those are the ones to whom Jesus preached and accepted what He said. I believe they went at that time to dwell in heaven after Jesus presented Himself to the Father. Any thoughts from others? Blessings Cheri |

244 | Illustration of this verse | Luke 23:46 | skccab | 186161
Hi Ngqabe, Jesus was trusting His human spirit into the keeping of the Father, as he was assured that He would soon be reunited with the Father (see Ps. 31:5). The Amplified Version uses the word "expired." That's just simply another term for "died." Hope this helps. Blessings Cheri |

245 | Searching for the truth | John | skccab | 190116
God's morning to you FytRobert, You have been given numerous clear, concise answers to your question about praying in Jesus' name. It appears you have taken your stand, and you are not wrong (nor are any of the fine folks who have given you their answers). It's perfectly alright to end your prayers with "in Jesus' name" and it's perfectly alright not to do so. What isn't alright is why you are doing it. Only you and your heavenly Father will know if you're doing it because you feel bound to do so and fear you won't be heard if you don't, or because you just simply love saying that precious Name. (And if you do feel bound and you have fear of not being heard, please, please speak to your pastor.) You also stated that He is known by many names and asked which name to use. He has only one name - in English it is Jesus, in Hebrew Yeshua. He has many titles: Christ, Messiah, Counsellor, King of Kings, Lord of Lords and so on. Stand in the Liberty He has given you, Cheri |

246 | the smallest bible passage | John | skccab | 214593
Shalom Emcee, Welcome to SBF!! I think the smallest Bible verse has to be John 11:35 Jesus wept. (But one that says a great deal about our Master!!) Cheri |

247 | Thoughts on Hegg? | John 1:1 | skccab | 211634
Shalom MJH, You've been around the Forum long enough to know that this is not the place to expound on the good or bad attributes of any person we happen to personally like or dislike - This is a Bible study forum. Please email me (in my profile) and I'll be more than happy to talk to you about Tim or anyone else we may happen to have knowledge of :o) But just for the record: I didn't say I did not like him, I simply said that I was not a BIG fan... 249 | What changed? | John 7:8 | skccab | 202939
Shalom Thomas8 The "answer" is in your question. The others wanted Him to enter Jerusalem with a bang, with a "Hello, here I am!" vs.8 "...my time is not yer." vs10 "...but as it were in secret." No changes between verses. He went quietly to fulfill the command, as this was a "pilgrimage" feast, but it wasn't the season for Him to make a public entrance, so to speak. Cheri |

250 | Jesus washes the feet of his disciples | John 13:1 | skccab | 186528

251 | How do i get back on track with god?. | John 15:4 | skccab | 202268
Shalom Mittens, Welcome to the forum!! Steve, Lionheart and Tenderheart have directed you very well. I just wanted to add one thing: You may find that those whom you have been "hanging out with" will attempt to stop you in your tracks, cause you to feel condemned, even try to convince you that God couldn't possibly forgive you for having backslid. DO NOT buy into that, not for one second!! Luke 15:11-37 is about you (and me!!) Welcome back to the family, we've missed ya!! Cheri |

252 | Jesus Died for all, why speak in parable | John 17:9 | skccab | 212202
Shalom Flyman, Why don't you tell us a little something about yourself in your user profile. It is only optional but most of us have filled ours in - it's nice to know about our brothers and sisters in God's family. Just tell what you are comfortable revealing for now and you can always edit it later with more info. Thank you. Cheri |

253 | Why can't I speak in tongues yet ? | Acts | skccab | 204296
Shalom Joann, Doc is certainly right, you most likely have been taught wrongly. I know that I was taught that speaking in tongues was the ONLY sign of baptism of the Holy Spirit. But in Torah (I'm sorry, I donlt know exactly where, and my Bible has been packed away for vacation), when God took of the Spirit that was on Moses and distributed it to the 70 elders who were to help him, my bible says that they prophesied (not spoke in tongues or unknown utterances), that one time, and that one time only So now we have 2 different signs of the Holy Spirit. And how about the 3pack a day smoker who, without thought or effort suddenly no longer lights up. Or the one who could put a football locker room to shame by their foul mouth suddenly, also without thought or effort on their part, their language is totally cleaned up. I think the sealing of the Holy Spirit is different with each individual as God sees fit. Which is what everyone else has been telling you. Just live you life to glorify the Lord in all you do and what He has planned for you will happen just as He wants it to, in His time. Meanwhile, relax, and enjoy the journey. :-) Cheri |

254 | "can you explain to me Acts 2:46-49 | Acts | skccab | 213081
Shalom Dcmartin, My bible only has to verse 47 in Acts 2...(some times they vary). I'm not sure what you don't understand, but I'll try to explain what I understand of the passage... This was the extreme infancy of the church and it was still mainly made up of Jews, just another sect of Judiasm. They continued daily in the temple with one accord - they still said the prayers 3 times a day in their local worship area (the Temple, for these spoken of), preached there the gospel that the promised Messiah had come, they took their meals with fellow believers in their different homes V. 47 they were continually praising God as He showed them favor and more and more people were added to their fellowship. If you're confused about the statement "those who were being saved" - salvation in a one time thing but a life time of attaining. Little by little, day by day, one's life changes as they follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. Hope this helps Cheri |

255 | Ananias and Sapphira paid for their sin | Acts 5:9 | skccab | 213051
Shalom Keliy, Let me say first that I'm at work and not on my own puter, so if you need scripture references, I can get to them way later tonight. But I consider the act of these two NT people goes back to the Torah where it says that once a thing is purposed in one's heart to give to God, it's His - it's not to be changed, not even for something better (and if one did change what was purposed then BOTH would belong to God). Annias and wife purposed to give ALL and then held some back - what they held back already belonged to God, it had become holy because it was His and they abused it. (I figure you probably know where this law is but if you need me to reference it, I can do so when I get home.) :o) Cheri |

256 | Followers of "The Way" - meaning? | Acts 9:2 | skccab | 193441
Morning MJH, I've heard that the sages believe that the way back to the Garden, to the Tree of Life is through a death. Yeshua became that Way, to take us past the "cherubim" amd the two-edged sword guarding the way to the Tree. What was it that you heard? Shalom Cheri |

257 | What is "patient in Tribulation"? | Acts 14:22 | skccab | 187996
MRoyal, What makes you think that if the Church should be taken away before the tribulation, that there would be no believers after the rapture? Is it so inconceiveable that absolutely no one after that time would come to the Lord - and it's these that must be patient? Just a thought. blessings cheri |

258 | Is demonic possession relevant today? | Acts 19:13 | skccab | 193658

259 | who was Jesus talking about | Acts 19:15 | skccab | 210850
Good evening jchelve I'm sure john will see your question and answer you, but I'll give you my opinion. Messiah was speaking to those who had been just playing a game (and there are many of those around today!!). They crave the notoriety, the money, the esteem, etc that comes from performing miracles and healings. They actually manage to convince themselves, as well as many others, that they are truly born-again believers, but they have never really surrendered their lives to the Lordship of Messiah. How do you think that they practice lawlessness? Later in ch. 24 vs. 34-46 will give you better enlightenment on what it means to practice Torah, to live as a redeemed child of God, or to practice "lawlessness." Shalom Cheri P.S. In the future, if you want to answer a post/note of a specific person, just click on that person's post and then you can reply and an email will be sent to that person, and that also keeps the home page free. 260 | God will write it on their hearts | Acts 20:32 | skccab | 192911
God's morning to ya! Could these be the verses you were looking for? Jer 31:32 not like the covenant which I made with their fathers in the day I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, although I was a husband to them," declares the LORD. Jer 31:33 "But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days," declares the LORD, "I will put My law within them and on their heart I will write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. Jer 31:34 "They will not teach again, each man his neighbor and each man his brother, saying, 'Know the LORD,' for they will all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them," declares the LORD, "for I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more." Shalom Cheri |
