781 | Do you think US has these people? | 2 Tim 3:5 | prayon | 24690
coop1, It is in the human nature to want to kill someone who has wronged you so deeply as OBL has done to us. It is also human nature to "follow the crowd". Many people who are doing the "chanting" are doing it because everyone else is doing it. These are both the results of Adam taking a bite of the apple 6000 years ago. And it will get worse. The bible has been quite clear on that. Let me ask you a question - when the going gets rough in your personal life do you give up on God or start doubting him? The United States has taken a strong blow from some very evil men, and she has staggered a bit, but she will come out of this proud. What your son is partaking in is defending God and the right to honor God - and it didn't just become very evil and sinister. What is happening here is a war in spiritual places because Satan knows his time is about up. America had to go to war and I stand beside her 100 percent! I am not proud of some of the people in this country but I am proud of America! America is defending the right to be free to worship the way God has called us to worship not only for us Americans but for others as well. America is defending the right to "feed the poor". America is taking a stand in defending women and widows and orphans who should not be abused and disregarded but who should be loved and cared for. America is defending what the country was built upon - one nation under God, indivisible, with LIBERTY and justice for all. And to some that will mean the right to worship idols and false gods. But if America withdrew from this war or had never started it just where would we be? Probably being beaten for not worshiping Allah. How would we witness for our Lord then? prayon - a veteran |

785 | 'Reinvented' Gospel | 2 Tim 4:3 | prayon | 110168
Greetings New Creature, I too have to agree with the article. Too many pastors today are watering down the gospel to make it sound more appealing to people. It is so sad. Many people are not hearing the true word of God. There are a few reasons I believe that this is happening. 1) Pastors want large congregations and will do whatever it takes to get one. They know that if they step on people's toes that they are going to loose those people from their congregation. 2) Another reason is that some pastors do not want to loose their financial contributors. They feel that their church will go under if they do not have these people to give. What they don't understand is that if they would just trust in God they would be just fine. 3) Another thing is that they want popularity. preaching the true gospel is going to step on toes. These Pastors however in the end will have to answer to God for their watered down messages. prayon |

786 | 3 things that are a must for ministers | Titus 1:7 | prayon | 22146
Greetings loveforHim! The first and most important thing is that you are called by God to be a minister. Next, you must have a Godly nature, you must be able to walk the walk - be a lover of goodness, and be upright, humble. Finally, you must have a firm grasp on the Word of God so that you can shepherd your flock and teach them in the ways of God. prayon |

787 | What did Onesimus do? | Philemon | prayon | 8562
Onesimus was Philemin's slave. Onesimus ran away from his master. He meet Paul probably in Ephesus and was converted to Chrisianity. Onesimus had been useless (Philemon 11) but now he would live up to his name which means useful or profitable. Paul appealed to Philemon out of love to not kill Onesimus as was allowed when dealing with run away slaves, but to instead return him to Paul to serve Paul while imprisoned. Prayon
788 | 4 person in NT who had church at home | Philem 1:2 | prayon | 112004
Note: Greetings and welcome to the forum, I was able to find 3 of them for you but I can't seem to locate the other. Below these 3 are some possibles. 1Co 16:19 The churches in the province of Asia greet you. Aquila and Prisca and the church that meets in their house send their warmest Christian greetings. . Col 4:15 Greet our brothers and sisters in Laodicea, especially Nympha and the church that meets in her house. Phm 1:2 our sister Apphia, our fellow soldier Archippus, and the church that meets in your house. One of them would be where Eutychus was sitting in the window and fell out while Paul was preaching or at Cornelius' house. A third possible could be the prison guard that was converted after the earthquake at the jail. Another could be Lydia's house, Hope this helps, prayon |

789 | Can I trust this Pastor? | Hebrews | prayon | 16848
Greetings Jensen! Do not use the fact that the pastor insists that Paul is the author dictate whether that is the church for you. He may be right - he may be wrong, no one knows. In looking for a church, especially being a new Christian, try a variety of churches that profess to be a bible believing, Word teaching church. When you get to a church that you feel comfortable in (or have a inner peace about) then that is where you belong. Just pray and ask God for His direction. Your spirit man (or the Holy Spirit that now lives in you) will direct you if you let him. If you feel uncomfortable then that is not where you should be - keep searching. You should definitly get involved in a good bible study also. No matter where you end up, in any church, always see if what the pastor teaches lines up with the word of God. prayon
790 | Loss of Salvation? | Hebrews | prayon | 20609
Greetings! Christ here is warning against hardness of heart that would make repentance inconceivable for the sinner. Anyone who deliberately turns his back on Christ is cutting themselves off from God's forgiveness. This includes those who returned to the Judaism. (footnotes in the Life Application Bible). prayon

792 | Is eternal life possible right now? | Heb 1:1 | prayon | 15571
First of all I think that you need realize that the bible says that we need to be in a church. It is impossible to serve the body (be a servant) if you are not in a body. It also sounds to me like you are judgeing pastors, churches, kalos, and those who speak in tongues. Who are you to judge? You can not say that those who "repeatedly babble" the same words are not truly speaking in tongues. I am sure that you do not know all the languges every used. You say repetitive - Is it not possible that they are repeating the same word over and over again as many do when they call out for Jesus, Jesus, Jesus. We are told in Matthew not to judge - We are also told to be humble. Forgive me but you sound awfully jugemental and vain in your post. |
||||||
793 | I would like a personal opinion of this | Heb 4:12 | prayon | 175177
Greetings Mack, Although the Word is comforting and nourishing to those of us who believe, it is also a tool of judgement and execution for those who do not believe. It cuts through all the topical layers of our being and delves deep into our inner most being. He knows all and sees all and we will be accountable at the time of judgement. Sometimes when I just can't grasp the meaning of a verse it helps me to look at other translations. Here are a couple other wordings of the same verse. Message Bible: Heb 4:12 God means what he says. What he says goes. His powerful Word is sharp as a surgeon's scalpel, cutting through everything, whether doubt or defense, laying us open to listen and obey. God's Word: God's word is living and active. It is sharper than any two-edged sword and cuts as deep as the place where soul and spirit meet, the place where joints and marrow meet. God's word judges a person's thoughts and intentions. International Standard Version: For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any double-edged sword, piercing until it divides soul and spirit, joints and marrow, as it judges the thoughts and purposes of the heart. Hope this helps, prayon |

794 | How does Romans 8:38-39 fit in with Heb | Heb 6:4 | prayon | 24968
The author of Hebrews was refering to the pagans who investigated Christianity and then went back to the paganism from which they came. Some Jewish Christians did the same thing and returned to Judism. By turning away from God at the most knowledgeable time in their lives, they cut themselves off from God's forgiveness. However, even when you turn away from God He will never turn away from you. Nothing can stop His constant presence with us.
795 | Tabernacle/Sacrificial Animals? | Heb 8:5 | prayon | 35671
Greetings Charis! The only information on that that I can find is related to the fellowship or peace offering. In this offering all that was burnt was the kidneys, tge appendage fo the liver which shall be removed with the kidneys and the fatthat covers and surrounds the entrails. The rest of the animal was to be eaten by the worshipper, his family and his friends in a fellowship meal. (Lev 7:16). I will see if I can find the answer to answer your question in a broader sense. prayon
796 | details of curtain in temple splitting | Heb 9:1 | prayon | 11282
Hebrews chapter 9 describes the curtain as the symbolic barrier between God and humanity, created by humanity's sin. Sinful ones are not allowed in the presence of God. Once a year the priests entered with the veil, his symbolic protection was the blood of the lamb sacrificed in substitution for sinners (9:22). When Christ died he became the sacrificial lamb. He substituted for every believer in suffering the wages of sin which is death. Jesus death and the torn curtain have a two-fold purpose. 1) The ceremonies of were all fulfilled at the death, resurrection, and ascension of Christ. This was later confirmed by the destruction of the temple in 70 AD. Because sacrifices were only permitted to be offered in the temple, all Jewish animal sacrifices ceased after 70 AD. They should of stopped with the torn curtain. At the cross Christ became the high priest bearing blood. 2) The torn curtain symbolizes that there is nothing between God and the believer. God's presence is open to us whereas before it was only open to the priest. We can now experience complete oneness with God. I might add the curtain was 20 feet by 60 feet by 4 inches thick. It took 300 priests to move the curtain. The curtain was also completely torn - nothing stands between us and God, not even a thread. We have total access to Him. The curtain was repaired by the priests because they thought the earthquake had caused it to tear. It is also interesting that the curtain ripped at the time of the evening sacrifice. Some priests became believers because of the curtain. |

797 | Was the temple curtain repaired? | Heb 9:1 | prayon | 152255
Greetings Songbird. I must apologise - I am moving and all my reference material is packed. I believe that the priests attempted to fix the curtain but never did. If they had there would of been a curtain between us and God but there is not. As I said I have no scriptural back-up for that at this time. prayon
798 | why blood for sin-offering? | Heb 9:22 | prayon | 59386
Greetings turtlesrcool,The blood is an important part of the sacrifice becuse the life of the flesh is the blood. Blood carries life sustaining elements to all parts of the body; therefore it represents the essence of life. In contrast, the shedding of blood represents the shedding of life. Since blood contains the life, blood is sacred to God. Shed blood from a substitute atones for or covers the sinner, who is then allowed to live. In the OT when a sacrifice was given the worshiper was to lay his hand on the head of the burnt offering, which would then be accepted on his behalf to make atonement for him. Putting one's hands on the head of the animal was a smbolic way of transferring sin or the guilt of sin to the animal which was then killed on the sinner's behalf. Hope this helps, prayon |

799 | important | Heb 10:24 | prayon | 144746
Greetings 9-1-1, It is important to go to church because God has instructed us to. Heb 10:25a says "We should not stop gathering together with other believers, as some of you are doing". Believers gather together at church. Rom 10:14 says "But how can people call on him if they have not believed in him? How can they believe in him if they have not heard his message? How can they hear if no one tells the Good News?". You hear his message by going to church to hear the Word. prayon |
