381 | What are 'Ancient Paths?' | Jer 6:16 | prayon | 2115
According to the International Bible Commentary the ancient path is defined as this: "The basis of God's relationship with His people is still the ancient path of His law expressed in their history and religion".
382 | Elaborate, please? | Jer 6:16 | prayon | 2345
Dear Charis, I believe that it is the Isrealites that refuse to walk in the path. At this time the Isrealites had forgotten God and had "stumbled in their ways in the ancient roads" (Jer 18:15). Verse 17 says that He has sent sentinels (the prophets) to warn us. Today He continues to send us messengers to warn us. Many today are not listening either. It reminds us of the fact that we MUST walk in the narrow path of God's word. In Christ, prayon |

385 | Isn't Lamentations a book of poetry? | Lamentations | prayon | 63782
Greetings, Lament means to mourne or mourning. "Lamentations" is believed to of been written by the prophet Jeremiah. Jeremiah had predicted the calamity to befall Jerusalem in his book and In Lamentations, he concentrates on the bitter suffering and heartache in more detail. Since it relates so closely to the book of Jeremiah and can be considered "part 2" of the prediction of Jerusalem it is placed after Jeremiah in the prophetic section of the bible even though it is written in the form of poetry. prayon

Greetings hy4jesus81, It was Ezekiel that prophesied from Babylon. prayon
387 | suggest a meaning for the coals (10:2) | Ezek 10:2 | prayon | 60450
Greetings and welcome. To add to what Timothy Paul said: God specifies that the angel reach in and grab the coals. The coals picture the fires of judgement which God's angels were to "scatter" on Jerusalem. In Isa 6 "coals" were used for the purification of the prophet; here they were used for the destruction of the wicked. Fire did destroy Jerusalem in 586 BC. prayon
388 | EXPLIAN TO ME A WHEEL IN A WHEEL | Ezek 10:10 | prayon | 133736
Greetings. The four wheels on Go's chariot mingled with the 4 angels coordinated with each other with such percesion and looked so much alike that it was as if one wheel blended entirely with another. Since their appearance was so unified and their action was so in unison that it was if they were one inside another. prayon
389 | scriptual suport for Ezekiel 14:14 | Ezek 14:14 | prayon | 55276
Greetings, I am not quite sure what you are looking for but I will give it a try. The 3 OT heros mentioned here exhiited power in intercession on behalf of others (Gen 16:18; Job 42:7-10; Dan 1,2) at strategic points in redemptive history, and even they could not deliver anyone but themselves if theey were praying earnestly. see also Jer 15:1. prayon |

390 | SHOULD CHRISTIANS EAT PORK AND SEAFOOD? | Ezek 22:26 | prayon | 92653
Greetings Lorranbow, Acts 9:23 tells us of a vision that Peter: The next day, as they went on their journey and drew near the city, Peter went up on the housetop to pray, about the sixth hour. Then he became very hungry and wanted to eat; but while they made ready, he fell into a trance and saw heaven opened and an object like a great sheet bound at the four corners, descending to him and let down to the earth. In it were all kinds of four-footed animals of the earth, wild beasts, creeping things, and birds of the air. And a voice came to him, “Rise, Peter; kill and eat.” But Peter said, “Not so, Lord! For I have never eaten anything common or unclean.” And a voice spoke to him again the second time, “What God has cleansed you must not call common.” This was done three times. And the object was taken up into heaven again. These verses are believed to release us from eating that which was unclean in Lev and Deu. prayon |

391 | The kingdom in Nebuchadnezzars dream? | Dan 2:36 | prayon | 18654
Greetings Alex, His dream symbolized different periods in history. The gold head symbolized the Empire of Babylonian of which Nebuchadnezzar was ruler from 606 BC until 539 BC. The chest and arms which were made of silver represented the Medo-Persian empire which ruled from 539 BC until 331 BC. This kingdom belonged to Nebuchadnezzar's grandson. The Bronze body and thighs represented Alexander the Great who ruled the Grecian Empire from 331 BC to 146 BC. The fourth kingdom represented by the legs of iron was the Roman Empire. Being strong as iron was referring to the great military of the Romans. The times of this Empire are 146 BC until AD 476. As the feet and toes are made of both iron and clay it was to be a divided kingdom. The kingdom will be partly strong and partly brittle. The stone that was carved out that smashed the clay and iron symbolizes the rock of Jesus Christ. Hope this helps. prayon |

392 | Daniel 8:21 the shaggy goat. | Dan 8:21 | prayon | 60118
Greetings just me, In Daniel's interpretation of Nebuchadnezzar's dream in Chap 2 Daniel told us that the belly and thighs of bronze represented a kingdom which would rule over all the earth. This was the kingdom of Macedonia and Greece. These countries were under the leadership of Alexander the Great beginning in 334 BC. In Daniels perspective all the earth would be conquered by his leadership. In verse 8:21 it tells us that the goat was the kingdom of Greece. Alexander the Great knew that he fit the profile of that prophecy. I believe you could get the history part from any ancient/biblical history book. prayon |

393 | dan 10 what was the vision daniel saw | Dan 10:5 | prayon | 50063
Greetings tuli, In this vision Daniel saw a heavienly being. Some believed that it was an appearance of Christ because of the appearance of the being described in verse 6 (see Rev 1:13-15). Others believe it is an angel (because he required Michaels help (see v. 13). In either case, Daniel caught a glimpse of the battle between good and evil supernatural powers. prayon
394 | who was the i beast in daniel 7; | Dan 11:30 | prayon | 128529
Greetings, The 4 beasts that came up from the sea represent the 4 kings on Earth. These kings are the same empires as the image in chap 2. The Lion - Babylon The Bear - Medo-Persia The Leopard - Greece, The 4 heads on this beast represent the 4 generals that divided the kingdom after Alexander the Greats death. They ruled Macedonia, Asia Minor, Syria, and Egypt. The 4th beast represents Rome and the Anti-Christ. prayon |

396 | How to resist "back to slavery" tempts? | Hos 8:3 | prayon | 124276
Greetings Imforgiven, Eph 6:12 This is not a wrestling match against a human opponent. We are wrestling with rulers, authorities, the powers who govern this world of darkness, and spiritual forces that control evil in the heavenly world. Eph 6:13 For this reason, take up all the armor that God supplies. Then you will be able to take a stand during these evil days. Once you have overcome all obstacles, you will be able to stand your ground. To stand against the temptation that tries to bring us down put on your armor! Notice that all the armor the bible tells us to take up protects the front of us, not one peice covers the back. This tells us that no matter what the battle face it head on - never turn around and leave your back open for the enemies knife. Stand stong! To fight the devil use the weapons God gave you for that purpose. Pray, have faith, use wisdom and discernment in battle. Remember if you place yourselves under God's authority. Resist the devil, and he will run away from you. (James 4:7) If you keep your mind on Christ you will win every attack. prayon |

397 | Day of the Lord? | Joel | prayon | 10886
The "day of the Lord" is a common phrase in the OT and in the book of Joel (2:1,11,31;3:14). It always refers to some extraordinary happening, whether a present event (like a locust plague), an event in the near future (like the destruction of Jerusalem or the defeat of enemy nations), or the final period of history when God will defeat all the forces of evil. Even when the day of the Lord refers to a present event, it also pictures the final day of the Lord. It can be referring to the same thing as 1Thess 5:2 or it can be referring to the 2nd coming. I believe it is refering to the 2nd coming. Another good one to ask Jesus when we see him......prayon
398 | Was prophecy fulfilled at Pentecost? | Joel 2:28 | prayon | 5612
Nolan, prophecy was only fulfilled in part at Pentecost. In Acts 2:17-20 Paul tells the men of Judea and those who live in Jerusalem that these persons were not drunk but that the first part of Joel's prophecy had been fulfilled and this was that fulfillment. However, not all of Joel's prophecy was fulfilled that morning. Verse 17 starts off "In the last days", of which we are still in. He continues to pour out His spirit on those who desire it today. Verse 19 states that He will show signs on the earth below - blood, fire, and smoky mist. I believe these are still to come. He also states that the sun shall be darkened and the moon turned to blood which we are told in Revelation 6:12 will be during the tribulation.
399 | Who is 'at ease in Zion?' | Amos 6:1 | prayon | 3514
I believe that it could portray New Testament people as well as those in the Old Testament, maybe even more so. Wealth and complacency is more of a problem today than ever before. We need to start placing the concerns and needs of others ahead of our wants.
400 | what sin does obadiah point out? | Obad 1:4 | prayon | 167163
Greetings and welcome to the forum! The theme of the book is the judgement of Edom for cursing Israel. Pride was the main sin. It also gives out a few warnings - 1) Anyone who does not help God's people is God's enemy 2) No matter how safe you think you are God can change it 3) You will reap what you sow 4) Destruction comes for those who defy God. Hope this helps. prayon |
