481 | FOLLOW UP FOR MY QUESTIONS | Bible general Archive 4 | azurelaw | 212140
DEAR YELLOWROSE, WHEN YOU DID THE SEARCH, DID YOU CHOOSE "Amplified" FROM THE TRANSLATION BOX? I HAVE JUST TRIED THAT OUT WITH THE WORD "BEAUTIFIES" FROM YOUR POST 212108. THE VERSE WAS FOUND PERFECTLY IN PSALM 103:4. BY THE WAY, YOU SAID "I WAS VERY GLAD THAT I HAD FOUND A WEBSITE WHERE I COULD FIND SOME HELP BUT I SEE THAT I WAS WRONG". I LOOKS LIKE TO ME THAT YOU ARE ACCUSING THE FORUM BEING NOT HELPFUL. I AM SORRY THAT YOU FEEL IT THAT WAY. BUT PLEASE THINK AGAIN...IS IT TRUE THAT WHAT YOU'VE GOT WAS FAR BEYONG HELPFUL AND CONSIDERATION? HAVE YOU THOUGHT ABOUT THAT WHEN WE SUGGEST YOU SEARCH THE SCRIPTURE BY YOURSELF DO NOT MEAN THAT WE DON'T WANT TO HELP BUT HOPE THAT YOU CAN MAKE GOOD USE OF THE FEATURE OF THE FORUM TO SOLVE YOUR PROBLEM FASTER INSTEAD OF WAITING FOR A REPLY FROM THE USERS. I WOULD NOT HAVE PROPOSED YOU DID THE SEARCH YOURSELF IF I HAD NOT FOUND THAT THE VERSES WERE PERFECTLY MEMORIZED AND COPIED BY YOU IN YOUR QUESTIONS (BUT JUST LACKING THE BOOK AND VERSE). IT AMAZED ME AND I ADMIRED YOU! WE TREASURE EVERYONE (LIKE YOU) WHO SINCERELY SEARCH AND STUDY THE HOLY WORD ON THE FORUM. HOWEVER, IF YOU CHOOSE TO QUIT BASE ON YOUR MISGUIDED FEELING, I PRAY THAT YOU STILL PERSEVERE IN YOUR STUDY. EPH 4:15 SPEAKING THE TRUTH IN LOVE... SHALOM AZURE |

YOU MAY JUST DO THE SEARCHING BY YOURSELF BY TYPING A LESS COMMON WORD IN THE SCRIPTURE, SAY, IN YOUR CASE OF PT. 1, YOU MAY TYPE "BEAUTIFIES" ONTO THE SEARCH BOX OF BIBLE TEXT AT YOUR RIGHT HAND CORNER OF THE SCREEN. IT WILL LIST ALL THE RELEVANT SCRIPTURES BEARING THE WORD "BEAUTIFIES". TRY THAT OUT TO SEE WHAT YOU FIND. SHOULD YOU HAVE ANYMORE PROBLEMS, PLEASE DO COME BACK AND LET US KNOW. SHALOM AZURE |

Dear yellowrose, Welcome to the forum. 1/ Do you know the book, chapter and verse (it seems to me that you do) of the scriptures you are searching? If so, you just need to type "book/chapter/verse" e.g. Gen 1:1 onto the search box at the bottom of your right hand side of the screen and choose "Amplified" for the translation then click "go". 2/ It would be much visual friendly if you could use the lower cap for your posts. 487 | Difference between Psalm and song | Psalm | azurelaw | 211944
Dear Rolff, "The book of Psalms is a collection of inspired Hebrew prayers and hymns...the Bible also contains words spoken to God or about God, and that these words, too, are God's Word...The Psalms are just such words. That is, because psalms are basically prayers and hymns, by their very nature they are addressed to God or express truth about God in song." --- Fee and Stuart Shalom Azure |

494 | Wishful praying? | John 14:13 | azurelaw | 211183
Dear pgs, Welcome to the forum. I would say that you are partly correct in saying that : ...answers them according to our best interests, not always what we "wish" for... Don't remiss v13 in Chapter 14 and v8 in Chapter 15 which are the key idea or main focus for our prayers. Do you remember the Lord's prayer in Matthew 6 that Jesus clearly state our first and main concern in the beginning few sentences: Matt 6:9 "Pray, then, in this way: 'Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Matt 6:10 'Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. In other words, our "wish" or "will" should be guided by God's wish and will. When we trust in Him and abide in Him, we will pursue in knowing more about Him and His will and submit to what He wishes and wills and pray accordingly with the ultimate goal or purpose that His name be glorified and honoured. Hope the above is helpful to you. Shalom Azure |

498 | SEAERCHING FOR THE TRUTH | Bible general Archive 4 | azurelaw | 211006
Dear Robert, Although scriptures do not explicitly say when, by whom and why is hell created, I believe the below citation from C.S. Lewis’ and Tim Keller’s (his echo with the thought of Lewis’) should worth us ponder. “Christianity asserts that every individual human being is going to live for ever, and this must be either true or false. Now there are a good many things which would not be worth bothering about if I were going to live only seventy years, but which I had better bother about very seriously if I am going to live for ever. Perhaps my bad temper or my jealousy are gradually getting worse – so gradually that the increase in seventy years will not be very noticeable. But it might be absolute hell in a million years: in fact, if Christianity is true, Hell is the precisely correct technical term for what it would be. And immortality makes this other difference, which, by the by, has a connection with the difference between totalitarianism and democracy. If individuals live only seventy years, then a state, or a nation, or a civilization, which may last for a thousand years, is more important than an individual. But if Christianity is true, then the individual is not only more important but incomparably more important, for he is ever-lasting and the life of a state or a civilization, compared with his, is only a moment.” --- C.S. Lewis (Mere Christianity) ******* C. S. Lewis's depictions of hell are important for postmodern people. In The Great Divorce, Lewis describes a busload of people from hell who come to the outskirts of heaven. There they are urged to leave behind the sins that have trapped them in hell. The descriptions Lewis makes of people in hell are so striking because we recognize the denial and self-delusion of substance addictions. When addicted to alcohol, we are miserable, but we blame others and pity ourselves; we do not take responsibility for our behavior nor see the roots of our problem. Lewis writes, "Hell … begins with a grumbling mood, and yourself still distinct from it: perhaps even criticizing it…. You can repent and come out of it again. But there may come a day when you can do that no longer. Then there will be no you left to criticize the mood or even enjoy it, but just the grumble itself going on forever like a machine." --- Tim Keller (Preaching Hell in a Tolerant Age - Brimstone for the broad-minded) Source: http://www.dbu.edu/jeanhumphreys/DeathDying/preachinghell.htm ***** Shalom Azure |
