581 | John12:1-9 Mary's love for Jesus | John 12:6 | Mommapbs | 73246
Greetings sweet! Judas was not causing anyone to question the Master's worth, but his remark illuminated the attitude of his heart toward the Lord. This is not unlike folks today who put service to others in place of service to the Lord. Blessings, mommapbs |

582 | Do you forgive Judas? | John 13:11 | Mommapbs | 42740
Greetings Love Fountain! You asked, "Do you forgive Judas for delivering up Jesus?" Without Judas delivering up Jesus, would there have been any forgiveness for us? Perhaps we should be focused on thanking God for providing Judas as His instrument! Mommapbs PS: When I can't have an answer to the "whys," I focus on WHO - for I always have Him! Remember:"The secret things of God belong to God" (!) Dt 29:29 |

585 | Will there be Muslims in heaven? | John 14:6 | Mommapbs | 22709
Romans 1 declares that the righteous man will live by faith. Who then is righteous? Anyone who God imputes His righteousness to. See Romans 4. James 2:23 and Romans 3: 21-23 says:"But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Just because the Muslim believes in Allah, he is not excused for his rejection of Jesus. Allah is not Jehovah God.I believe there is a desperate need for body of Christ to KNOW THIS fact! See I John 4. The Muslim does not believe that Jesus is God's Son. According to I John 4:3, this is the spirit of the antichrist: "but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world." Also, to the Muslim, Jesus is no more than a prophet like Mohammed. And since Mohammed appeared later on the scene than Jesus, they believe that Mohammed supercedes the authority of Christ! I think you will agree that this is so contrary to what Jesus has delared in Matthew 28:18 - "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me." Why make a distinction between non-believers? All Muslims, Hindus, atheists, etc. will have to give an account of what has been revealed to them by Jehovah God within their hearts as well as within the visible creation. See Romans 1:17-21! |

586 | Had the Americas heard the Gospel then? | John 14:6 | Mommapbs | 44806
Matthew 24:14: "And the Good News about the Kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world so that all the nations will hear it; and then, finally, the end will come." Certainly this could indeed refer to the angelic announcement in Rev 14:6. But it is also interesting to consider that at the 9/11 memorial service in Washington DC, Billy Graham presented the Gospel message in his remarks. This service was carried LIVE throughout the whole world and silmultaneously translated! We have had the technology to do this for years, but never the occasion! God can indeed work everything out, including the horrific tragedy of 9/11, for the good of those who love Him! |

587 | Searching for the truth | John 14:6 | Mommapbs | 84814
Greetings FytRobert - indeed there is a spirit of eccumenicalism throughout the world, but this is NOT God's Spirit at work. For Jesus plainly tells us that there is ONE WAY. . .not many ways to ONE God! Do not be surprised at this, God's Word also tells us that in the last days men will not put up with "sound doctrine." (See 2 Tim 4:3; 2 Peter 2:3, 17, 18; Romans 1:25) Meaning that the Truth of God (His Way) will be exchanged for a lie (man's way)- it is so much "nicer" to be inclusive, etc. But again, this is NOT God's Way. Narrow is the Gate! Mt 7:13-14. Blessings on your day! mommapbs |

588 | so "cuts away" means "prunes"? | John 15:2 | Mommapbs | 47775
Greetings Parable! Your question has been on the "unanswered" list since Wednesday! Searcher56 did write a post that addresses this question; so I have taken the liberty to cut and paste it here on this thread following my observations about another illustration of barrenness. At one time I equated fruitfulness with soul winning! (Boy was I in trouble here!) but God has shown me that there is much more to this "fruit" that He expects to see IN our lives! In Romans 12:1-2, Paul exhorts believers to "...be transformed by the renewing of our mind..." and throughout Scripture God challenges, "Change the way you think and act!" How do we accomplish this? Jesus said "Apart from me you can do nothing." John 15:5; and Paul asserted, "I can do all things THROUGH Christ . . ." Phil 4:13 I believe that the following parable reveals what FRUITFULNESS really is! "Then Jesus used this illustration: A man had a fig tree growing in His vineyard. He went to look for fruit on the tree but didn't find any. He said to the gardener, 'For the last three years I've come to look for figs on this fig tree but haven't found any. Cut it down! Why should it use up good soil?' The gardener replied, 'Sir, let it stand for one more year. I'll dig around it and fertilize it. Maybe next year it'll have figs. But if not, then cut it down.'" Luke 13:6-9 Just as the gardener expected to find figs on a fig tree, so does our Heavenly Father expect to see the qualities of His Son growing in us- His children. When there is no fruit evident, He uses measures to encourage its growth. We must remember that it is the presence of Jesus that enables the "fruit" to grow; He uses different means to accomplish His purposes for us! Fertilizer adds necessary nutrients to stimulate production and the action of digging brings life-giving air to the soil as well as removing obstacles that hinder strong root formation. Yet, the ultimate expression of that fruit is dependent upon our cooperation, our yieldedness or obedience. (First to believe and then to grow by continued obedience to He who is IN us!) God is patient with us, but it is clear that barrenness has consequences! Blessings, Mommapbs From Searcher 56 Word Study: Prune (Kathairo) Take away (Airo) Prune is kathairo (Strong's 2508) and means "to cleanse, of filth impurity". It is translated purge by NASB in Heb 10:2. The root is katharos (Strong's 2513) "clean, pure". Airo (Strong's 142) gives us take away. The same word is used in Matt 16:24, when a disciple is to take up his cross. It is to move it from place to another. The fruitless branch is not pruned, only the one bearing fruit. If there was no pruning, eventually the fruitful branch would be fruitless. Hope this helps, Searcher |

589 | Evething good that I do is a good fruit? | John 15:4 | Mommapbs | 102377
Greetings! A good motto to remember is : "Let go and Let God!" - you can never "do it right" on your own! Aixen wrote something that I'd encourage you to think about. He posted, "These are not by our own efforts, however. It is still God who works in us, both to will and to do them. And he has a way of using us to help each other to bear fruit." Notice that this is consistent with what Jesus tells us in John 15:5 - "apart from Me, you can do nothing." Unless it is God DOING the work through us, the "good" things that we do merely by self effort have no eternal value. See also I Cor 3:5-7;10-15) There are believers who are totally ignorant of this important truth. Many go about their "ministry" devoid of the power of God because what they are "doing for Him" is self reliant rather than God dependent. These "good things" are no fruit at all! Fruit comes only FROM and being IN the Vine. When asked to serve in some way, if it's something you think YOU can do for God, I'd suggest that it's YOU doing the work and NOT God. This is performance Christianity! But, when what you are asked to do is beyond your natural "ability" or out of your "comfort zone" I'd suggest that THIS is a pretty clear indication of where God wants you to be - for in this place, you MUST depend upon Him! Scary? Yes, but full of blessings as you become His instrument! Blessings, mommapbs PS: God always uses what He gives you! What qualitites has He given to you to serve Him with? There might be some talents or gifts that you are even unaware of! A way to discover them is to just experiment in different areas of service - especially those that may present a real challenge. I suspect that when you find yourself lovng God through what you are doing, you will have found where He desires to bless you. |

590 | proverbs starting men's ministry | John 15:5 | Mommapbs | 87517
Greetings jamesl and welcome to the Forum! It is not important what we think - for only God's approval matters and I trust that you already have that in Christ! I have found that when God gives me a "vision" for something He wants me to pursue, He will confirm that to me in various ways. Yes, seeking the counsel of other believers is wise (Ps 1:1)but also be on the lookout for other confimations that God desires to give you! It is always exciting (and challenging) to see God at work in one's life! The most important thing to remember is that HE DOES IT ALL - you are but the willing instrument He holds in His hand! As far a "Men in Motion" goes, I guess as long as your "men" understand that the objective of the "movement" is to draw their hearts closer to the Lord, then why not? What God sets in your heart to do, trust and obey! He will equip you in all things! May God bless you on your journey with Him! mommapbs |

591 | wish you were hot or cold | John 15:5 | Mommapbs | 90737
Greetings Fran: you wrote. "we must be sincere in what we do for Christ. and remember only what we do for Christ will last." This is works or performance based Christianity. Jesus said, "Apart from me you can do nothing." We can be sincere 'til the cows come home, but self effort profits nothing. In His condemnation of the Church at Laodicea, the Lord rebuked them for depending upon self rather than upon Him - I suspect that this is what "lukewarmedness" really is . . . ponder this a bit OK? mommapbs |

592 | True Christians break commandments? | John 15:10 | Mommapbs | 72830
Greetings dat:From reading your earlier posts, this has been disturbing your spirit for quite a while and it concerns me that you still do not have closure on this issue. I strongly recommend that you seek the counsel of your Pastor for on-going suppport. As far as listening to your brother . . .I suggest that you seek the approval of God rather than the approval of men!(John 12:43) I encourage you to re-read the Scriptures that others have posted and add to it a HUGE DOSE of 1 John 1:9 - "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." Do you remember the “Comet” cleanser commercials? Comet gets the stain out. This is a picture of what the blood of Christ continues to do for believers when they sin - it gets the stain out! This “washing” prepares us to be a vessel, fit for His use. Notice that this verse doesn't say anything about "losing" one's salvation. It talks about what to do when we sin - and sin is a reality that we will have to deal with until we get to Heaven! Believers in Jesus still sin! Recall Jesus washing the feet of the disciples. Read John 13:5-14 – This is a portrait of what Jesus does for us when we confess our sins and also what we are to do for others – forgive them! And remember that only God can judge another’s salvation. Read the account (John 8) of the woman caught in adultery as she stood before her accusers. Note what Jesus said to her in verse 11. As we grow in Him and are more conformed to His image, the action of the Holy Spirit in our lives causes us to recognize sin, respond to it with confession and repentance and enables us to choose to "sin not!" Once we recognize sin for what it is, we also realize that we have a choice repeat it or forsake it. (Paul addresses this issue in Romans 6, 7, and 8).Do we slip up? Yes. Can we expect to be disciplined or suffer the consequences for our (continued) sin? Absolutely. But the one thing we need not fear is condemnation or eternal separation from God. (Romans 8:1) Re-read Eph 2:8-9 and Galatians 2:16. Breaking the 10 commandments (et al) happens. God knew this from the start – that’s why He gave us Jesus! The law was given so that we would recognize that we cannot keep it! Remember, in order for a man to be acceptable to God he had to keep the WHOLE LAW - and this meant in his thought life as well! No one could ever do this. But Jesus did. That is why He is our perfect substitutionary sacrifice for sin. He alone could pay God's penalty for sin (death)! Once you have trusted that He has done this for YOU personally, the penalty for YOUR sin is erased. With faith in Jesus comes the presence of His Spirit which assures you of your right standing with God. Romans 8:16. According to Romans 8, a believer can be in the flesh or in the Spirit. But when one lives to please his carnal nature, the Spirit within is grieved. When one is in a right relationship with God, one experiences peace, not conflict. Read Phil 4:4-9. You know that you chose to be disobedient. God's forgiveness does not depend upon anything other than your confession. It is not conditionall upon any performance or action other than 1 John 1:9. IF we confess . . . .Therefore, it is my opinion that having a right relationship with God does not mean that you should leave your unbelieving husband! See 1 Cor 7:13-14. Can you expect the consequences of being unequally yoked? Yes. But with God, all things are possible . . . trust Him with your marriage. God desires that we choose to live according to His desires - which are of the Spirit. "Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?" 1 Cor 3:16 The word "dwells" has some serious implications as it causes me to ponder how "at home" God is within me, especially when I recognize those times when I have given in to the desires of the flesh or my carnal nature. Does this mean that God departs? NO, but He is most uncomfortable with my lack of hospitality! Our lives must be like cleansed vessels – but we can not clean them on our own. This is why 1 John 1:9 is such a significant verse for it prepares us for God to be at work in us. God removes our sins from us as far as the east is from the west. The remembrance of our sin should only serve to drive us to our knees in grateful adoration of the One Who paid the penalty for that sin and continues to present us spotless before the Throne of Grace! For more study, do a word search on repentance with the "Quick Search" feature at the upper right corner of your screen. I hope this helps you to discover the forgiveness that is ours in Jesus! Mercy is not getting what we do deserve and Grace is getting what we don't deserve - keep this in mind. mommapbs |

593 | why would God allow his son to die fo us | John 15:13 | Mommapbs | 137802
Greetings - first of all, when you are with co-workers, I encourage you to not use company time to engage in spiritual discussions. The simplest answer to why did God allow His Son to die is God loves people and He wants us to live!- See Romans 5:8; 1 John 4:9 What makes me think that God will protect me if He didn't protect His Son? His love for me that sent Christ to the cross, to pay MY debt for sin. Since Jesus paid the penalty for my sin in His body - what do I have to fear? The only thing to fear is the wrath of God that remains upon those who reject the substitutionary atonement of Jesus See Romans 5:9 and John 3:36. One who refuses to recognize God sould be the subject of our prayer. It is only through the work of the Holy Spirit that this person can be enlightened. Just keep speaking the truth in love, live as a light before her and don't engage in pointless arguments. Evolution is just a theory - it was proposed to eliminate a Creator. There is much more evidence for "creation" then there is for evolution. You are on the winning team, but don't be arrogant about it! Do read up on creationism so if asked, you will have a ready defense. See 1 Peter 3:15 Blessings, mommapbs |

594 | what is jesus saying to mankind ? | John 16:12 | Mommapbs | 145156
Greetings, I suspect that the things that Jesus had to say required the indwelling Spirit to reveal them to His disciples - and at this point the Holy Spirit had not been given! Read the next verse here! The things of God are spiritually discerned, the man without the Spirit cannot understand them - see 1 Cor 2. Blessings, mommapbs |

595 | Gods will for your life | John 16:13 | Mommapbs | 48933
Greetings TrayCee! You have received good counsel! I wholeheartedly agree that the barometer of peace is a good indicator - Jesus, is the Prince of Peace, so when He is present in your circumstances, peace should be too. But what about those times when peace is absent? This is a call to respond - to pursue Christ and His righteousness. How do we do this? Prayer and fellowship with Him through His Word, relying upon the Holy Spirit to guide you into all truth. Stop striving to "know God's will" and trust that He will reveal it to you! The more desperate you become for God, the more you will realize that He is right there cheering you on to follow Him. Jesus is you biggest fan, He is at the right hand of the Father, interceeding for you! As you consider decisions or directions, some will be obvious - it this God-honoring and God glorifying? Other choices may not be so clear and will require the wisom of Solomon to discern and the patience of Job in the process. But remember that God gives you these gifts to enable you to know Him and to "wait" upon Him! Jer. 33: 3 'Call to Me and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know.' Hope this helps! God bless you as you seek Him and His will for you! Mommapbs |

596 | Scriptural basis of bible codes. | John 16:13 | Mommapbs | 84652
Greetings and welcome Merle! What makes the Bible Code attractive to you? Do think about your answer. Are you looking for special revelation? Or are you looking for God? God is Truth. You will find Truth in His Word, it does not need a "code" to be understood! God has given us His revealed Word and the Holy Spirit to be our guide. Indeed God keeps secrets,(Dt 29:29) yet it is HIS decision to reveal them to us . . .and He does this NOT through some "code" but through the activity of the Holy Spirit. I'd be very careful to keep my distance from those who claim to have special knowledge! "Woe to those who call evil good . . ." Is 5:20 For a time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine . . . (1 Tim 6:3; 2 Tim 4:3; Titus 2:1)Please read these Scriptures and ask God to reveal HIS Truth to you. mommapbs |

597 | When does Scripture apply to us? | John 17:12 | Mommapbs | 132523
2 Tim 3:16 - ALL Scripture, not "some" is profitable. With God ALL things are possible. If He chooses to speak to us by a donkey and we fail to heed His voice, who is responsible? Listen to what the Spirit says as you read the Word . . . If you read God's Word and don't expect to hear God speaking individually to you, you won't! For God's Word also says, "As a man thinks within himself, so is he." (Prov 23:7) Frankly, we must choose to listen first! Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. Dalcent, I encourage you to choose to "believe" that God will speak individually to you through His Word, not through His church, but by His Spirit directly to you. How about completing your user profile? Blessings, mommapbs |

598 | Prayer without an Answer??? | John 17:23 | Mommapbs | 101686
Greetings! Jesus prayed for our unity almost 2,000 years ago. Has this prayer been answered? I suspect most of us who have been around the FOrum for a while would say , "No." Does this mean that God will not respond to Jesus' prayer - again, "No." When I am frustrated by unanswered prayer I must remember that sometimes God says "Yes;" sometimes God says "No;" and sometimes God says "Wait a while." You are in the "waiting room" right now. Why? Good question. First of all, God is at work. He is preparing to answer you according to HIS will - do you seek that first? James tells us that we have not because we ask with the wrong motives.(James 4:3) Examine yours and ask God to search them - as David exclaimed, "see if there be any wicked way in me!" See Psalm 37:4 - as you continue to read and meditate upon God's Word, HE will give you the deires of your heart. When HE gives you YOUR desires, whose are they? They are God's. When we pray, asking God to give us HIS desires, we are praying in accordance with His will. Therefore, even if His answer seems to be taking a long time, or if His answer is not what you were expecting of Him, do not be discouraged. The Lord hears and will respond, but in His Way (and remember His ways are not our ways) and in His timing. 3 years is a very short time to pray for something when we consider the Old Testament saints. They had the promise of God and earnestly prayed for its fulfillment - without seeing it happen (Heb 11). But we, as believers, have the promised Savior AND His promises! God keeps His promises. He will answer you. Keep trusting Him to work all things together for good! Blessings, mommapbs |

The following verse also tells us that John was present yet the others watched from a distance.(Luke 23:49) I have often thought about this and wonder if this is the way that I sometimes "see" my Savior and Lord. . . Just as Jesus spoke to His mother and to His disciple John (John 19:26-27), I have learned that I must remain close if I want to hear His voice! Blessings, mommapbs |
