381 | Last question | Is 57:1 | Mommapbs | 46193
You asked, "So do you believe Jesus was taking the focus off the Healer and putting it on the woman with the issue of blood when he said 'thy faith has made thee whole'?" No, because FAITH must always have an object. The women's faith was not the object, Jesus was. He commended her for her actions; her response to what she believed. How can one believe if they have nothing to belive in? Atheists believe there is NO God, but this does not mean that they do not believe in something! Think about it, the action of sitting in a chair takes faith - we have to believe that the chair will hold our weight before we act on that trust and sit! But also consider does the chair hold us because we believe it will? Just something to think about! The "faith factor" does indeed figure into many area of our life. Keep your eyes and your faith fixed on Jesus - "the Author and perfector of our faith!" Hebrews 12:2 Jesus is not only the object of our faith, He is the One who has given us even the ability to believe. The woman choose to believe Jesus could heal her; and even her faith to believe came from the Lord. So when Jesus said, "your faith has made you well", He was giving glory to God! Be careful what you choose to believe in! In Jesus' Mighty Name, Mommapbs PS: Faith is a precious gift from God for us to glorify Him. God always will honor our faith in Him - even when we don't understand His ways with us or those we love. |

382 | After reading about Naaman | Is 57:1 | Mommapbs | 46274
Your wrote: "Naaman did believe or have faith in what the little maid from Isreal said about the prophet in Samaria being able to heal him of his leprosy, didn't he?" Yes, Naaman exercized his "faith factor," but remember that the issue you are addressing is the OBJECT of that faith! I think we can compare this situation to seeking advice about what Dr. to go visit! Like Naaman, when we see the Dr, we too have a choice to follow his instructions or not! What Naaman chose to believe about the prophet Elisha, determined his response. WHO was Naaman trusting in - even though he believed the God of the Israelites existed, it was not HIS god! (Sure, Dr. so-and-so went to a fine medical school, but he uses "alternative therapy" and I just can't buy into that! How 'bout some good old fashioned pills Doc?!) Notice how he rejected the instruction of the prophet - the waters of his own land were "better." This passage also suggests that Naaman felt that HE had to play a more important role in his own healing; it also appears that he was angry that Elisha had not paid him his "due" by just sending a message of words rather than seeing him personally. There is a lot to think about here! And yet when pressed to "take a chance" and comply with the instructions he was given, he obeyed. Yet, WHO did he obey? It wasn't GOD - he obeyed his servants! The faith factor Naaman exercized was NOT in God. But even through his unbelief,I believe God healed Naaman to bring glory to Himself! Indeed, God chose to heal Naaman even before he ascribed honor and Glory to The Great Physician. Another reference for you to consider: Hosea 11:1-3 says, "When Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called my son. But the more I called Israel, the further they went from me.They sacrificed to the Baals and they burned incense to images. It was I who taught Ephraim to walk, taking them by the arms; but they did not realize it was I who healed them." God still heals, even when we do not acknowledge Him. As far as other passages, I am reminded about the paralytic who was brought to Jesus by his friends.(Matthew 9) God's word say "When he saw THEIR faith" (v2); this is collective or plural. But it leaves room to wonder if the reference is to the friends apart from the man in need of healing. If this indeed is the case, how much more should we, as believers, be standing in the gap as intercessors for our unbelieving friends! Perhaps THIS is the greater issue for you to consider - for "they did not realize it was I (Jehovah) who healed them." In Christ's love, Mommapbs PS: Don't limit God by resisiting the possibility for the Lord to heal (or do anything, for that matter!) without believing faith in Him as a prerequisite. I believe that healing is God's desire for us - He wants none to perish - But this healing has an eternal objective! I urge you to keep your focus off the physical blessing of good health and recall the words of Jesus to the woman at the well, "If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water." John 4:10. |

384 | Jesus set the captives free is where? | Is 61:1 | Mommapbs | 86971
Greetings Sissy I have copied a previous post by Scribe which I though was good to consider in your study of this verse: Isaiah 61:1-3 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified. You will notice that Jesus read this passage in a synagogue and said that he was fulfilling it. But Jesus closed the book just before the mention of the day of vengeance. So we are still in that that part of the passage prior to the day of vengeance. When the day of vengeance begins then the rest of the passage will be fulfilled. This also is a great example of how prophecies do have more than one application and will skip generations from one sentence to the next. So when someone trys to establish a prophetic time table on a verse it is not always correct. The prophecy might have skipped 2000 years between two sentences and the reader is not aware of it. Luke 4:16-19 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read. And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written, The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. Luke 4:21-22 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears. 385 | How does the church respond to abuse? | Jer 5:31 | Mommapbs | 86510
Greetings - I am saddened by your experience yet rejoice with you for the healing of your spirit that has taken place. Your question about physical abuse within the community of faith is indeed serious, yet it stems from a larger issue - spiritual abuse. Thankfully, we have civil laws that we can turn to for protection and NO WOMAN should feel that this is NOT an option for her because God has established ALL authority! (Rom 13:1) Paul speaks about the authority we SHOULD find in the church,(2 Cor13:10) authority that is given by the Lord BUILDS up. However, in many churches today, this is not the case. (Jer 5:31) Bottom line is this, until the church deals with the abuse of their spiritual authority, situations like this will remain and possibly flourish. You took a stand and relied upon God - now as you look at the scars left by the past, what do you see, the wounding or the healing? I encourage you to keep your eyes on Jesus the author and finisher of our faith (Heb 12:2) - He will be your encouragement and will direct you in the way you should go. Do get a copy ot this book: "The Subtle Power of Spirtual Abuse" by Johnson and Vanvonderen May God bless you as you cling to and depend upon Him, mommapbs |

386 | Are we impatient that wicked prosper? | Jer 12:1 | Mommapbs | 28237
Matthew 5:44"But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?" We will not be impatient that the wicked prosper if we keep eternity in mind! This should be a very sobering reality check for every Christian. What am I more concerned about: the wicked prospering NOW or their prospects for eternity? I don't want to make light of your question, for we all wrestle with unjustices. But God assures us that HE will exact vengence upon evildoers. "Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, 'VENGEANCE IS MINE, I WILL REPAY,' says the Lord." Romans 12:19 Honestly, how do you feel about Osama Bin Laden? From his actions, we would call him wicked, and yet he is enormously wealthy or prosperous from a worldly perspective. Is he not your enemy as well as mine? Do you pray for him? I confess, I have not. |

387 | Is the drunkenness figurative? | Jer 13:13 | Mommapbs | 28236
I believe the reference to drunkenness in this passage is spiritual and therefore figurative. My immediate response to your question took me to passages in Revelation. Revelation 17:2 . . . the kings of the earth committed acts of immorality, and those who dwell on the earth were made drunk with the wine of her immorality. I feel Paul explains this quite well in Romans 1:18-32. Because of mankind's refusal of God, as a result of this choice, He allowed our foolish minds to be darkened. I believe the drunkenness Jeremiah is talking about is akin to a mind without God - limited, impaired, confused, rebellious, immoral, unable to make sound judgments or wise decisions, etc. . . Physical drunkenness sometimes leads to death; but death is always the result of spiritual drunkenness! There is no difference for Jews or Gentiles: those who refuse Jesus (the new wine from the True Vine!)" . . . will drink of the wine of God's fury, which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath. He will be tormented with burning sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb." Revelation 14:10 |

388 | Did Israel dwell securely at that time? | Jer 23:6 | Mommapbs | 28204
If you look at the previous verse (5), "Behold, the days are coming," declares the LORD, "When I will raise up for David a righteous Branch; And He will reign as king and act wisely And do justice and righteousness in the land. . . it causes me to think that this is referring to the not only the birth or first coming of Christ,(I will raise up for David a righteous Branch) but His Second coming! This is when He indeed will come as THE King, to reign, act wisely, and do justice and righteousness in the land. Only then, will Judah be saved and Israel dwell in safety. Certainly history shows that this is not yet the case! "For I do not want you, brethren, to be uninformed of this mystery--so that you will not be wise in your own estimation--that a partial hardening has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in; and so all Israel will be saved; just as it is written, "THE DELIVERER WILL COME FROM ZION, HE WILL REMOVE UNGODLINESS FROM JACOB." Romans 11:25,26. |

389 | 1 Thess. 5:17 | Jer 29:12 | Mommapbs | 149795
Greetings - God listens to us! Jer 29:13 says 'You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.' Prayer is simply communication with God. Talking to God as you would talk to a friend. What do you talk about? Things in your life that concern you, delight you etc. You also talk with a friend to learn more about them; their likes and dislikes, what makes them who they are. As you discover who your friend is, you understand what you can do to please them. If you only want to be with a friend for what they can do for you, what does that say about your friendship? Same way with God. One thing that I try to consider is this: Am I looking for God's Hand or what is in it? Do I desire His presence or what His presence can do for me? God knows the motives of our hearts, and even in our self-centeredness, He loves us still. See Pslam 37:4. When we delight in God, just take pleasure in who He is, for His sake, He will give us the desires of our heart. Who do these desires belong to - God! God's deisres are given to us! Now whose deisres would you rather have - yours or His? When His desires are given to us, they become ours - think about this. Blessings mommapbs |

392 | angel | Jer 33:3 | Mommapbs | 148793
regguh - history can give us the answer to your question, these men have ruled and are dead. This is the 21st century, and apart from the current pope, chosen by the college of cardinals, no one but God knows what the future will hold. Dan 2:45 tells us that God does reveal the future, but whether or not He did reveal the number or descriptions of the popes to Malachy is unknowable - it is not recorded in God's Word. Thankfully, we have God's Word as our reference to the past and a key to the future. God has revealed Himself and His established principles for us to depend upon. We know that God will accomplish His purposes on the earth. How He chooses to do this should not be a source of divison or even concern among us. Let us endeavor to love the Lord with all our hearts and our neighbor as ourselves. This verse in Jeremiah reminds us that God will tell us great and mighty things that we do not know. What are great and mighty things? The predictions of a dead man or the promises of a living God? mommapbs |

393 | name of the ethiopian eunuch | Jer 38:7 | Mommapbs | 152159
Read the account in Jer 38:7-13. Why do you think he used worn out clothes and rags in v. 12? Might it be that even when we think we have outlived our usefulness, we can still be used by God for His purposes? Note that even the eunuch, although unable to procreate, is still "productive." mommapbs |

394 | define a 'pastor' and an 'elder'? | Jer 50:6 | Mommapbs | 87641
Greetings! Yes there are differences in administration that vary with different denominations. You will find (using the Quick search feature) a lot of discussion on this topic. As believers in Jesus - we all follow the Great Shepherd. However, the Lord has given an awesome task to men (pastors and elders specifically) to "tend His sheep." Read John 21:15-17 Their responsibility is to LOVE THE LORD and lead us and encourage us in our walk with the Lord. God's Word (Acts 20:29)warns us that there are those who will infiltrate the church and lead the sheep astray . . . our responsibility is to "test the spirits" Please read 1 John 4:1-6. Be sure that the one you are following is following the Leader! I hope this helps! mommapbs PS: always remember that someone is following you too! 'Thus says the Lord GOD, "Behold, I am against the shepherds, and I will demand My sheep from them and make them cease from feeding sheep. So the shepherds will not feed themselves anymore, but I will deliver My flock from their mouth, so that they will not be food for them.""' Ez 34:10 |

397 | Danial's afe lion's den? | Daniel | Mommapbs | 50024
When Daniel was first taken into captivity, he is described as a "youth." (Dan 1:3-6) However, at the time of his experience in the lion's den,(under Darius) he had lived through the remaining reign of king Nebuchadnezzar and the reign of Belshazzar, his son. I could find no specific age given Scripturally for Daniel, but we can conclude from the records of the ruling monarchs, that Daniel was a mature man at this time. Hope this helps. I just use "google" to search for the reigns of specific kings. Mommapbs |

398 | Daniel's age when taken captive? chp.1:6 | Dan 1:4 | Mommapbs | 83258
Greetings! Welcome to the Forum. From this verse we cannot determine Daniel's exact age other than to know that he was old enough and young enough to be taught. It is remarkable that even in his youth, Daniel's faith in God was grounded so that he was not swayed by the influence of the Chaleans! (This is something to consider: What do we REALLY believe about GOD? Are our beliefs, grounded in HIS WORD?) Just some thoughts! mommapbs PS: How about completing your personal profile? Thanks! |

399 | 12 horns of david | Dan 7:24 | Mommapbs | 28636
Where in God's Word do you read about 12 Horns? Could you be thinking about this portion of Scripture in your question? "He gave me this explanation: The fourth beast is a fourth kingdom that will appear on earth. It will be different from all the other kingdoms and will devour the whole earth, trampling it down and crushing it. The ten horns are ten kings who will come from this kingdom. After them another king will arise, different from the earlier ones; he will subdue three kings. He will speak against the Most High and oppress his saints and try to change the set times and the laws. The saints will be handed over to him for a time, times and half a time. But the court will sit, and his power will be taken away and completely destroyed forever." Daniel 7:23-26 From Scripture, this union of ten kings, as described in Daniel, will come out of a kingdom that is different from any other kingdom prior to it in history. Some prophetic scholars suggest that this confederacy may be the EU. A "kingdom" based upon a global economy. I may be thinking out of the box here but could this "fourth kingdom" be a religious one - consider Islam? Certainly this would be different from other kingdoms! And is not jihad a different kind of conquering? Could this coalition described in Daniel possibly be an Islamic Confederation that has yet to arise? From God's Word we are assured that this union from a kingdom will come to be; and God will reveal it in His time. “Then the sovereignty, power and greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven will be handed over to the saints, the people of the Most High. His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all rulers will worship and obey him. This is the end of the matter. I, Daniel, was deeply troubled by my thoughts, and my face turned pale, but I kept the matter to myself." Daniel 7:27-8 Jesus said, “Don't be troubled. You trust God, now trust in me. There are many rooms in my Father's home, and I am going to prepare a place for you. If this were not so, I would tell you plainly. When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. And you know where I am going and how to get there . . . I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” Even so, Come Lord Jesus! |

Greetings! Aside from obeying God, read Hos 3:1-5. How would you feel if you were Hosea? I believe that God wants us to understand that He loves us just as we are - for we too have chased after other gods . . . even as believers, we become as harlots or adulterers in our relationship with Him when we put other people or things before the Lord. How patient He is with us . . . Blessings, mommapbs |
