301 | Is sickness from satan? | Job 2:7 | Mommapbs | 83250
Greetings unisoldier. While I don't think it is appropriate to attribute ALL sickness to the torments of the devil, here are two instances in Scripture where God permitted Satan to exercise affliction. See also Paul's remark about his "thorn in the flesh" as a "messenger from Satan." 2 Cor 12:7 mommapbs |

302 | Help with bad dreams | Job 7:14 | Mommapbs | 68394
Greetings Yehoshua and welcome to the Forum. I can't ascertain if these are "spiritual attacks," but I can speak from my own experience. It does not matter what the dream is, but how you respond to it! You are doing the right thing - praying about it. (Be sure you ask GOD for the advice though!) A while back I had a very disturbing dream. It was vivid and actually woke me up. I went to the Lord in prayer about it and when I did not have any peace, I called my prayer partner to come over and pray with me. When I told her of the content of the dream, I think she was just as terrified as I was. So we went before the Lord and asked Him to reveal the meaning. As we were praying, God opened my mind to understand the dream - I had immediate comfort and peace. On the other hand, I had another disturbing dream that God has SLOWLY revealed its meaning to me. He reminds me of this dream periodically and more and more pieces of the puzzle come together. I am confident that one day, I will have the complete picture of what the Lord is trying to teach me . . . Bottom line is this - We have no control over our dreams but God is sovereign - He knows all about what we are experiencing. The only thing we have control over is HOW we respond to these troubling circumstances in our lives. Keep seeking God in this and trust Him to reveal Himself to you through this experience. Don't limit God, a "bad" dream can certainly bring about good. (God!) Blessings, mommapbs |

303 | Do animals know God? | Job 12:7 | Mommapbs | 51498
Greetings Parable! All creation is a testimony to THE Creator! But only man can KNOW God in the relational, intimate sense of the word. So often I find truths from God's Word illustrated in the world around me! It is indeed an exciting adventure. Here is what I have learned from God's Creation: "The Graveyard" Jesus said, "I am the light of the World. He that follows me will not walk in darkness but have the light of life!" John 8:12 We moved into our house during the summer and were delighted with the view of the woods in the back yard. In the fall, the changing colors of the leaves made the scene spectacular, so we didn't even have to "take a drive" into the countryside to enjoy Autumn's palette. But as the leaves were shed, a rather ugly sight came into the picture. In an adjacent lot behind us there is a lumberyard with a huge protective roof over the boards and timbers. Aside from spoiling the pristine scene, it seemed so ironic to have a lumberyard in the middle of the "woods!" If trees had emotions, they would probably all shudder as they surveyed their "graveyard." I consoled myself with the thought of winter's shortened days. We wouldn't be able to see the ugliness in the dark. But even these hopes evaporated when the owner of the lumberyard installed a huge security light! We have a constant reminder of this unsightliness even when the woods are in full leaf; the light dispels the darkness even in the summer! As I was thinking about this, I realized that although we enjoy the loveliness of our stand of trees, they are much more useful and have more potential in their "milled state." Think of all the things that are made of wood; think of all that wood can become in the hands of a carpenter! We too are like the stand of trees overlooking a "graveyard", and the light that shines for us is also a "security light", a light of warning and protection. It is a constant reminder of what WE can become in the hands of the MASTER CARPENTER! And now one called "The Truth about Cats and Dogs" Most people have an opinion about cats and dogs. Our late Pastor was a dog lover; he did not like cats and he was not inhibited or ashamed to admit this even in the company of cat people. (His wife, in fact, had a cat!) Now, I don’t have anything against cats in particular, but there is one attribute of their personality that does tend to put me off – they are aloof; they will pay attention to you only on their terms! A dog, on the other hand, is responsive; it will pay attention to you even when it doesn’t want anything from you. A dog is just content to be with the one he loves. I think this is why we refer to a dog a “man’s best friend!” I think God is a dog lover too. (In fact, even His name spelled backward indicates this!) I believe that God is deeply grieved and disappointed when people ignore Him, or when they approach Him with their “gimme” lists. God is looking for people who just want to be with Him; to love and adore Him for who He is, not for what He can do for them! When we are content to just sit at His feet, we will find that He lovingly cares for all our needs. (For He knows what we need before we even ask! Matthew 6: 24-33) We can learn a lot from a dog . . . Blessings! Mommapbs |

304 | what understanding DO animals have? | Job 12:7 | Mommapbs | 51529
Greeting Parable! Of all God's creation, only MAN was made in His image. Also, man is the only creation of God that possesses a soul (Gen 2:7) Since God is relational, so are we. Note how God said in Gen 2:18 "It is not good for the man to be alone so I will make him a companion . . ." We know that since the Fall,God is actively seeking to restore His love relationship with man that was lost in the Garden. (God's quest begins in Gen 3:8!) Re: awareness and relationship Numbers 22:21-34 tells that a donkey is aware of the presence of the angel of God. But our awareness of God is different - note that although the donkey saw, the LORD had to open Balaam's eyes to see the angel.(v 31)It is also interesting to note that the angel would have killed Balaam and spared the donkey if the animal had proceeded! The donkey knew an obstacle was in the way and acted instinctively. Note how Balaam responded when he learned the truth! Animals react, people "respond relationally." We (not animals) are aware of God because God sets eternity in OUR hearts (Ecc.3:11) There is indeed a future to hope for with a God who loves us and just longs to have us return His love! You asked:"if Creation is a testimony to the Creator, to whom is this testimony directed?" Romans 1:18-20 has the answer. "For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they (MANKIND) are without excuse." v 20 What else does the Bible say about animals and God? 1. Man was made to be a master over the animals.(Gen 1:26) 2. Adam was charged with naming them. (Gen 3:19-20) 3. God used animals to "clothe" Adam and Eve (Gen3:21) It's interesting to note that the first substitutional sacrifice parallels God's desire to provide a suitable companion for man. The blood of animals was not "suitable," and thanks be to God, just as He provided Eve as a suitable companion for Adam, He came Himself- Jesus, the ONLY PERFECT sacrifice- to pay the penalty for our sin!)Boy that was a tangent! 4. Might we infer that God loves his creatures as He spared animals from the flood as well as Noah and his family? (Gen 6:19-20) 5. Jesus is called the LAMB of God. (John 1:36) 6. A horse is seen by John in Heaven (Rev 19:11) Well, this is about all I have time for. Perhaps others would like to add to this so why not re-post your question? Blessings! Mommapbs |

305 | God as creator should be obvious | Job 12:7 | Mommapbs | 51572
Aren't you glad God has made His truth so plain that even a mere child can believe? Childlike faith was affirmed by Jesus.(Mt 18:3;19:14) Perhaps this is because a small child trusts so completely. We train an animal to trust; yet too often our children grow up and learn to doubt. |

306 | what percentage did david increase israe | Job 12:23 | Mommapbs | 72451
InGodsWill, not to be disrespectful, but why would percentage matter? It is God who enlarges the territory or takes it away! See also Deut 19:7-9. David recognized that God's Hand of blessing was upon him. He knew that it was God who gave him the victory over his enemies. Throughout the Psalms, David was ever mindful of God's presence and His blessings in his life - we should be too! mommapbs PS If this trivia is important to you, may I suggest re-phrasing your question to ask, "By what percentage did God increase the size of Israel during the reign of David?" |

307 | old testament - heaven and hell | Job 19:26 | Mommapbs | 75860
I suspect the reality of entering God's presence upon physical death was a reality in the Old Testament. There was no debate or question about "heaven or hell;" it was a certainty. King David, upon hearing of the death of his infant son declares in 2 Sam 12:23, "I will go to him, but he will not return to me." Recall also that Elijah's call heavenward was witnessed by Elisha. (2 Kings 2:11) We would be wise to understand the reality of life as well - it is eternal . . . but WHERE will it be spent? Perhaps if we endeavored to truly grasp the horrific consequences of eternal life separated from God, we would be more passionate about the souls of those who don't know Him! Just some thoughts, I hope this helps. mommapbs |

308 | Usury, extortion and the poor | Job 27:17 | Mommapbs | 153393
God's justice will prevail. That ill-gotten wealth will eventually be given to those who have needs. I'm reminded of the story of Zaccheus - Luke 19:1-8. mommapbs |

311 | What is God saying these days? | Ps 19:2 | Mommapbs | 126166
Axien7z4 - I am reminded of the verse, "always learning, and never never able to come to the knowledge of the Truth." 2Tim 3:7 Also,"remember thy Creator in the days of thy youth" The whole of nature points to "intelligent design" yet men reject this because the want to deny the existence of a Designer! How thankful I am that I am "fearfully and wonderfully made." . . . "It it He who has made us and not we ourselves." (!) God's message has not changed. He still calls sinners to come to repentence. "Come" See Heb 11:6 How do you come to something you don't believe exists? God reveals His existence in what He has made (Romans 1) Axien, since our relationship with God is personal, perhaps a more important question to ask is,"What is God saying to YOU these days?" ! Also, is there a way that you "hear" Him most clearly? Where are you most conscious of His voice? Blessings, mommapbs |

312 | What is the meaning of delight ? | Ps 37:4 | Mommapbs | 109467
Greetings! To delight in the Lord means to find satisfaction in Him. Happiness depends upon happenings or circumstances - not all of our experiences are pleasant. But this does not mean that we can not continue to "delight in the Lord" while in the midst of them. As we focus on Who God is (a study of the names of God is a great place to begin) and what He has done for us, we can ALWAYS "delight in Him." In fact, He is the ONLY ONE worth delighting in! Focusing our attention on the desires of our heart, (ie, to be happy as suggested by another post)is to violate the first commandment: "You shall have no other gods before Me." Ex 20:3 Anything we put before God is an idol. I hope this helps. Blessings, mommapbs |

313 | desires of the heart | Ps 37:4 | Mommapbs | 137711
nae-nae 04 - keeping God's commandments does not manipulate God into doing what YOU want. When we "delight in the Lord" we seek to please Him for WHO He IS, not for what we can get Him to do for us. God looks at the heart - if our motives are self-centered, they are impure. Read the notes (green N) on this verse. Blessings, mommapbs |

314 | How can the gentleness of the opening ve | Ps 37:8 | Mommapbs | 151393
Pastorryan - Our God is a loving God, patient with us, (2 Peter 3:9) but our God is also a wrathful God. This passage reminds us of another side of God's nature -"A jealous and avenging God is the LORD; The LORD is avenging and wrathful. The LORD takes vengeance on His adversaries,And He reserves wrath for His enemies." Nahum 1:2 See also: Dt 32:35, Heb 10:30. The One who "repays" is the Lord. See the post by Kalos on Ps 137:9 ID# 111190 This Psalm laments the state of beloved Israel and should encourage us as we understand that God will rescue His people in the last days. Speculation Alert here! this might be referencing the harlot that "sits on many waters" in Rev 17. Saudi Arabia, which sits on many waters (look at a map), could be called the "daughter of Babylon" because the false religion that Saudi Arabia proclaims as truth came right out of Babylon in Iraq and was established by Mohommed at Mecca. The worship of allah descends from the moon god of Babylon and it is destined to be destroyed (Jer 5:42; 51:33)According to Hastings' Enc. of Religion and Ethics (vol 1. p.326) states that "Allah is a pre-Islamic name . . .corresponding to the Babylonian god known as Bel. 'Bel' means 'lord' and this is a title of reverance to the moon god 'Sin'.(Isn't this interesting?) Just as immature believers are called newborn babes or infants in Christ (1 Peter 2:2; Cor 3:1), the "infants" in this verse might also be offspring or followers of the false religion of the "daughter of Babylon" - Islam. God will destroy the all who reject Him as Lord. Just something to consider. mommapbs |

Greetings inmyheart! Thanks for the nice welcome! After many weeks away from a comuter terminal, indeed,it is good to be back. 316 | Why seek healing for this flesh? | Ps 46:10 | Mommapbs | 75311
Greetings Cyclist! When our teenage son, also named David, was undergoing treatment for cancer, he made an observation that has continued to encourage and comfort me. Perhaps it will you too! We had a habit of reading from God's Word just before bedtime. This particular evening, he was too ill to read so I read to him. We were in Ephesians 2. After I finished, I asked him which verse stood out to him and he replied, "That workmanship verse." How stange I thought to myself. Ephesians 2:10 says, "For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works which God has prepared in advance for us to do." So, I asked my son why this verse was important to him and he said, "This verse tells me that God has a plan for my life." "How do you know that, David?" I asked, And without missing a beat he said, "Because I'm still here!" He continued, "If your work for God is done, you should be happy to go home to heaven." "Be still, and know that I am God;I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." Psalm 46:10 “Because I am still here.” These were our son David’s words to express his confidence in God’s plan for his life. He is still here; his work is not finished yet! He has “being” in this present life, for God has ordained it. In light of this, God’s command to “Be still” reminds us of God’s sovereignty over life. Each day we are permitted to draw breath is a God-given privilege. It is also an opportunity to be obedient - show our love for the Giver of life. Notice in this verse that there is a reason for the continuity of our existent – of “being still.” God commands us to know that HE is God! Each day brings with it a chance for us to know more about God. Our being is not necessary for God; He knows all about us. There is nothing hidden from Him nor anything new we can tell Him that He doesn’t already know ompletely. “Being still” is God’s gift for us to know Him! Blessings in Him! Your sister, mommapbs PS: Just as we fill our cars with gas or make repairs so that they will continue to serve the purpose for which they were designed, we too should take care of these earthly bodies; for they are the instruments that God uses to carry out His purposes too. So while you are "still here," take care of what God has given you so that He can be about His work through you! |

317 | Holy Spirit or wind, breath, spirit? | Ps 51:3 | Mommapbs | 116151
Greetings Ray, After reading John 14:16,17 and 26 it makes sense to me to keep both Ez 36:27; 37:14 with Spirit. IMO this reference alludes to the passage in John. As far as Psalm 51:11 goes, if David is connecting God's presence with recognition of His Spirit, why lower s? Blessing, mommapbs |

318 | what does I thirst mean in the bible | Ps 69:21 | Mommapbs | 81244
Greetings! Although this prophecy was fulfilled at Calvary(John 19:28-30), Jesus, in death, provided the model for us to follow which found in couple of other scriptures: My soul thirsts for God, for the living God; When shall I come and appear before God? Psalm 42: 2 O God, You are my God; I shall seek You earnestly; My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You, In a dry and weary land where there is no water. Psalm 63:1 What I understand from these additional verses is that the TRUE thirst we must recognize is for God. Secondly, we must recognize the inability of man to quench the thirst for the Divine. Yet, how often does mankind attempt to do just that! From the first encounter with evil in the Garden of Eden, some confuse their desire for God with the lie that they can become like Him! (Gen 3:5) Jesus said, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink." John 7:37 ". . .whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life." John 4:14 May God bless your day as you consider these great Truths from God's Word! mommapbs |

319 | Verse Proving Devils Cant Hear Thoughts? | Ps 94:11 | Mommapbs | 62684
Greetings! Do a little reasoning with me. According to Psalm 94:11, God knows our thoughts. In Mt 12:24-28 Jesus knew the thoughts of the Pharisees. No where else in Scripture do we find a recording of anyone knowing the thoughts of another except God! Hope this helps! Blessings, Mommapbs PS: God is Eternal; He is Alpha and Omega; He is Omnipotent, Omnipresent and Omniscient - Satan is none of these, he is just a created being! And his time is almost up! |

320 | what is worship | Ps 100:3 | Mommapbs | 87519
Greetings Sept1963. According to a previous post by Searcher56, "Worship, by what the Greek and Hebrew says, it bowing low before the Almighty in reverence." As I consider this passage, it humbles me as I see the awesome magesty of the Lord. I worship Him because of WHO HE IS! Yes, we respond to God because of what He does, but as we come to know Him more, I believe our worship assumes a more reverent spirit of loving adoration than distant honor. I once had the arrogance to ask "Why worship?" and a very wise woman told me that I would have to discover the answer. I know WHO; I know WHY; and I am still discovering HOW! I believe that Lord esteems our feeble desires to ascribe the glory due His name!(Ps 29:2) Blessings, mommapbs |
