681 | Verses telling why we shouldnt wear casc | 1 Tim 2:9 | JCrichton | 132135
Hi, pinoypride18! Much of the Bible is written for the believers... other than to address a particular issue we will not find very detail-specific Scripture... The reason that a dress code exists is to demonstrate honor and respect to God, our Lord and Savior, and to our brethren... If one of your schoolmates is having a birthday party where his/her parents, relatives, and friends are gathered, and you have received an invitation, would you show up in a dingy outfit, with holes and caked dirt all over it? Would you not put on, if not the best, one of the finest ensembles that you have? Clearly, it would be absurd for any Christian to enter into the House of God in an attire fit for the beach, the "hood," the gym, a slumber party, a nightclub (a place where it is questionable for a Christian to frequent) or the "just hanging with my crew/homeboys or whatever the term of the day may be... while expecting God to "accept him/her as is!" Degrating ouselves in public (either through exposure or by subjecting others to our brand of dress code (pj's, slippers, perforated clothing, etc.) is not reflective of Christ, and certainly it is not deserving of God's Community! 682 | I Tim 2:12 Paul's opinion or God's Word? | 1 Tim 2:12 | JCrichton | 123295
Hi, HISROSEBUD15! Just a quick check: How many female Levites were anointed priests? How many female disciples were part of the Twelve? There are no Biblical passages that demonstrate that a woman is called to be in the service of God in an equal responsibility and function as a man. This fact does not negate the importance of women in both the Old Testatmen and the New Testament and the Church! God Bless! Angel |

683 | angel i missed your point | 1 Tim 2:12 | JCrichton | 123636
Hi, God's servant! Look at verses 8 and 9 and 21 through 24: Barak replied, 'If you come with me, I shall go; if you will not come, I shall not go, for I do not know how to choose the day when the angel of Yahweh will grant me success.' 'I shall go with you then,' she said, 'but, the way you are going about it, the glory will not be yours; for Yahweh will deliver Sisera into the hands of a woman. But Jael the wife of Heber took a tent-peg and picked up a mallet; she crept up softly to him and drove the peg into his temple right through to the ground. He was lying fast asleep, worn out; and so he died. And now Barak came up in pursuit of Sisera. Jael went out to meet him and said, 'Come in, and I will show you the man you are looking for. He went into her tent; and there was Sisera dead, with the tent-peg through his temple. Thus God that day humbled Jabin king of Canaan before the Israelites. And the Israelites bore down more and more heavily on that king of Canaan, Jabin, until he was utterly destroyed. So the Lord used Jael to bring down an enemy of Israel when BaraK, a military leader, was ambivalent about his obligations and seeked to determine for God when and where God would bless him. 685 | turn your back on parent that left you. | 1 Tim 5:4 | JCrichton | 127724
Hi, jmsyas! Unfortunately, Christians suffer the ole catch 22 or is it behind the eight ball... Jesus commands us to be different... not just figuratively but in literal obedience to Him (Matthew 5:21-26, 38-42 and 43-48). This would definetely apply to parents... Now, notice that He did not command us to be someone's floor mat--just that we behave towards others in the service and obedience of God. Jesus also cautioned about assisting the needy not the greedy (Luke 14:12-14); as Christians,we have an obligation to help, within our means, those who are in need of assistance--even if they were, at one time, our enemies... who is to know that we, through humble obedience to Christ, would not bring to Christ those wretched people who have been living without God? How can we let pride and vengeance grieve the Holy Spirit? (Ephesians 4:30) Further, if we do not forgive those who have caused us harm (trespassed against us), how can we ask the Father to forgive our trespass against Him? (Matthew 6:9-15) God Bless! 686 | desperate for help | 1 Tim 5:8 | JCrichton | 118434
Hi, lovablelady 41! I think that you are treading on dangerous grounds... Perhaps it is not Biblical passages that you (both partners!) need but professional/spiritual counseling. From your description of your household I feel that your husband has escalated from neglectful to abusive (both mental and physical abuse)... I experienced some of that from my older brother--no one knew the Bible better than he, according to him, of course! Yet when he behaved in a manner that was not reflective of the Scriptures... he would always have an excuse for his "slight error!" My advise: * Do not use the Bible as a sparring tool. * Do not allow your husband (nor yourself) to get physically or mentally abusive. * Do not allow your anger or feeling of impotence grieve your spirit ("fall out of a plane..."). * Do PRAY! * Get professional/spiritual counseling. * PRAY some more! God Bless! Angel |

687 | Be content | 1 Tim 6:9 | JCrichton | 137879
Hi, Nakia! I think that you are confusing two terms... True God demands that we become active servants (as the parable of the coins--Matthew 25:14-30); yet it is not material wealth that He demands that we engage in acquiring! (Matthew 6:19-21) Paul commends himself when he preached during his mission at Corinth (1 Corinthians 9:3-23) and he warns that those who do not work should not eat (2 Thessalonians 3:6-15)... Yet, neither Jesus nor Paul is saying that if a person does not strive to be wealthy (material gains) he/she is not a disciple... in the case of Jesus, He is speaking in terms of spiritual gain; in the case of Paul, he is speaking against freeloaders, who were like leeches sucking the life out of the early Church (where the Christian community deposited their individual goods for the communal distribution), and the "preachers" that would make evangelization a for-profit enterprise... There are people on Public Service because their health or their particular situation impedes them from getting gainful employment--they do not cease to be children of God... conversely, there are wealthy people who live wretched lives because they reject God's Authority or because they judge themselves more spiritual than those who cannot afford their lifestyles... Jesus made it a point that God sees the content of the heart rather than the outward appearance! (Mark 12:41-44; Luke 18:9-14) Build yourself up in the Lord and build those around you... this is where God demands that you and I (all Christians) excel, all of the times! God Bless! Angel |

688 | What is it about the Gospel? | 2 Tim 1:12 | JCrichton | 123844
"The words “Gospel” and “shame” do not seem to belong in the same sentence" Hi, Aixen7z4! Paul is making reference to Jesus' own words: For if anyone in this adulterous and sinful generation is ashamed of me and of my words, the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels." (Mark 8:38) As you say the Gospel and "shame" should not go together--at least as far as the Christians are concerned... But they do! Every single time that a person professes to be Christian and he/she circumvents God's Word, accommodates society and any anti-Christian doctrine/behavior, ignores God's command to serve the world's, rejects Jesus' teachings because they are inconvenient or outdated... EVERY SINGLE TIME THAT A "CHRISTIAN" IS SILENT IN THE FACE OF INJUSTICE, HATRED, IMMORALITY, OPPRESSION... EVERY TIME THAT A CHRISTIAN FEARS LOOSING HIS/HER PLACE IN SOCIETY AND BLATANTLY DISHONORS GOD BY SIDING WITH MAN'S VALUES WHILE REJECTING GOD'S... It happens on the way to work or at work; it happens on the way to school or at school; it happens on the way to Church and in the Church; it happens at home, with family, friends, acquaintances; it happens on the road; in the public transit system; it happens at the theatre, in front of the TV, and the computer! Every time we choose ourselves over God we are behaving as though we are Christians but ashamed of the Gospels! The Gospels convicts us of what is right and wrong, and, when we are silent or rebelious, we are being ashame of the Gospels--this is a futile attempt to circumvent God... yet, whether we acknowledge the Gospels or not Jesus' Words Judge us and either set us free or condemn us! Have you noticed what happens when a person lends money to a friend? Even when that person does not demand that he/she repay the debt, the person who borrowed the money, and has not intention of repaying the debt, begins to project his/her guilt on the person that loaned out the money; eventually the relationship could even be severed due to the the guilt and the obstinance to not repay the debt! It is the same with a Christian and the Gospels: when the Christian rejects God he/she becomes ashamed of the Gospels in a desperate attempt to silence the Word! God Bless! Angel |

689 | Bible Observation How to's | 2 Tim 2:15 | JCrichton | 105703
Hi, mel! I just read through Makarios's postings and I would like to add the following: Firstly, I defer to the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:26); I've learned that I will not always see the answers or meanings of Biblical passages regardless of how much I may strive to get it. Secondly, I employ patience and humility! and, lastly, I use a good study Bible and a concordance dictionary. An example of one of my projects is Genesis 14:18-20: These verses seem to be full of mystery; they act as a dangling participle. But they are oh so juicy! Here's Abraham coming back from a fierce battle and out of the blue this man drops in on him. Though Abraham has no discernible connection to the stranger, this man: a) blesses Abraham, b) is aware of the immediate circumstances that brought Abraham to that particular place and time, c) praises God on behalf of Abraham, d) mediates for Abraham, e) offers Abraham bread and wine, and, f) vanishes into the mystery that bore him. It would appear that Abraham just fell into more good fortune. But on the recap... The man Abraham just happened to have met is Melchizedek, who is both a priest of the Most High God and the king of Salem. A good study Bible and a concordance could shed a 2K-watt light on these three verses. The Bible and/or the concordance would expand these verses (Psalm 110:4 and Hebrews 4:14 thru 5:10, 6:19 thru 10:18), clarifying the office, duties, and identity of the High Priest. The Bible's footnotes and the concordance can identify the names and titles while offering a more rounded correlation between Melchizedek and Jesus. The mystery: Melchizedek is both priest and king. Salem is Melchizedek's kingdom. He appears out of nowhere and greets Abraham with blessings and revelations, then offers him bread and wine. Abraham, on his part, offers the priest a tenth of the plunder gained from the battle. The mystery unfolds: Since Melchizedek is the priest of the Most High God, we must conclude that he is also the king that represents the Most High God (Salem being identified as Jerusalem--a kingdom that will not be established for over hundreds of years). Melchizedek demonstrates that he has both spiritual authority and intimate knowledge of Abraham (he lbesses Abraham and praises him, praises God for bringing victory to Abraham, and intercedes on Abraham's behalf by asking God for further blessings). The offering of bread and wine, on the surface, could be interpreted as simple hospitability; but this is Abraham's backyard, it is he who should offer Melchizedek hospitability. And, finally, Abraham offers Melchizedek the tithing, a religious practice that will not come into existence until hundreds of years later, when the priesthood is established. Genesis 14:18-20: These verses, in effect, highlight, in one simple encounter, a mysterious priestly king who typifies the Law, the Commandments and the Lord's Supper! God Bless! |

690 | Send My messenger before Your face | 2 Tim 2:15 | JCrichton | 109041
Hi, Ray! Please compare the following Biblical passages: 'Look, I shall send my messenger to clear a way before me. And suddenly the Lord whom you seek will come to his Temple; yes, the angel of the covenant, for whom you long, is on his way, says Yahweh Sabaoth. (Malachi 3:1) he is the one of whom scripture says: Look, I am going to send my messenger in front of you to prepare your way before you. (Matthew 11:10) Ray, there is no confusion about the messenger; Jesus told of John the Baptist that, though he was the greatest of earthly origin, the least in Heaven is greater than he. John the Baptist also did not presume greatness for he said of himself that he was not worthy to untie His (Jesus') sandals. [Where there's no direct quote, I am paraphrasing.] The point I am making is in reference to Jesus' changing the pronouns in the original prophecy: Malachi: clear a way before ME Matthew: in front of YOU and to prepare YOUR way before YOU Malachi reflects Yahweh as the One who speaks and who is to come, hence "clear a way before me," and "the Lord... to his Temple." While in Matthew Jesus replaces the pronoun to conceal His Divinity (as He constantly did during his public years) because as the Christ He did not come to demonstrate that He is equal to the Father; He came to take on our iniquities and to bring us to the Father, not just by preaching but by real life example! Like Thomas finally learned, Jesus is my Lord and my God, so I will never down grade His Sacrifice and His Love by denying or deminishing Him! God Bless! |

692 | Getting closer to the Creator | 2 Tim 2:15 | JCrichton | 134172
Hi, Inprocess! I offer to you the book of John... unlike the rest of the books in the Bible it begins by telling us that God existed alongside of God, that He became incarnate (one with His creation) in order to rescue us and grant us the Divine Adoption--making us in Him Children of God! (This is just on the first 14 verses of the first chapter!) The book continues to point our way to God in baptism (both of water and Spirit), in fellowship (with the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit as well as with our fellow Believers), in worship, in submission, in freedom, in a new Life in Jesus! It reveals God's Plan of Salvation (Jesus), God's mysterious existence as Spirit and as the Father, Son and Holy Spirit coming to each and every believer and dwelling in us! It reveals the Paraclete coming to continue Jesus' Teachings and revelations (guide and teacher of the Church)! It reveals the special relationship Jesus has with His disciples and His command for us to abide in Him so that He can be One with us and extend that special relationship that He has with the Father! Hope this helps... God Bless! Angel |

693 | How do you know the Bible is the word of | 2 Tim 3:16 | JCrichton | 129722
Hi, Cariad! Have you heard about Faith?: Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. (Hebrews 11:1) This said, Christians must adhere to God's Word and God's Word testifies thusly: All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17) Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. (2 Peter 1:20-21) Now to him who is able to establish you by my gospel and the proclamation of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past, but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God, so that all nations might believe and obey him--to the only wise God be glory forever through Jesus Christ! Amen. (Romans 16:25-27) The Resurrection of Christ Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born. For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them--yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. Whether, then, it was I or they, this is what we preach, and this is what you believed. (1 Corinthians 15:1-11) So, if we choose to believe in Christ, we must obey His Word as the Holy Spirit testifies that Scripture is the Word of God! God Bless! Angel |

694 | old testiment of use today | 2 Tim 3:16 | JCrichton | 132407
Hi, bsc! It seems that for every flavor/color there's a theme/theory... There are many practices of the Old Testament that have become obsolute with the Coming of Jesus (Romans 7:4; 10:4; Galatians 2:16, 19; 3:24)... but even Christ Jesus Himself quoted the Old Testament Scripture! And the Apostles and disciples knew how important the Old Testament was as they quoted it and revealed the existence of Christ, as well as the Holy Spirit, in the Old Testament's times! Here's what Paul said about the Old Testament: And all these things which were written so long ago were written so that we, learning perseverence and the encouragement which the scriptures give, should have hope. (Romans 15:4) Scripture is not composed of books inspired by man's wisdom and understanding... Scripture is an inspiration of God's Holy Spirit (2 Peter 1:21; 2 Timothy 3:16-17) All Scirpture is Inspired by God and usefull for our learning and development in Christ Jesus! God Bless! Angel |

695 | Who wrote the bible | 2 Tim 3:16 | JCrichton | 133412
Hi! The Holy Scripture is God inspired... holy men of God were guided by the Holy Spirit as they made known God's revelations, admonitions, commandments, statutes, and prophecies: All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17) Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. (2 Peter 1:20-21) but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God, so that all nations might believe and obey him--to the only wise God be glory forever through Jesus Christ! Amen. (Romans 16:26-27) God Bless! Angel |

696 | Is the Bible itself evil? | 2 Tim 3:16 | JCrichton | 135675
Hi, Never! (Part 1 or 2) I think that part of your problem is that you seem to reject something you do not even begin to understand (“I have never read any bible from beginning to end,” “I am still reviewing the bible to try and get a bit more knowledge.”)… apparently you are searching for the proverbial needle… though not in a hay stock, but in a needle manufacturing plant (can’t see the forest for the trees type of analogy…) You can’t dissect the Holy Scripture and expect to discover God!: There is no room for self-delusion. Any one of you who thinks he is wise by worldly standards must learn to be a fool in order to be really wise. For the wisdom of the world is folly to God. As scripture says: He traps the crafty in the snare of their own cunning (1 Corinthians 3:18-19) (See also: Romans 10:11; 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Romans 8:6-8; 11:33-36; 1 Corinthians 1:19-31; 2:6-16; James 3:13-18.) “I don’t believe in” You have the right not to believe in God; you have the right not to believe in Jesus; you have the right not to believe in the Holy Spirit; you even have the right not to believe in the Holy Scripture… but you do not have the right to call yourself “Christian” and doubt any of the above!: Then he told them, ‘This is what I meant when I said, while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law of Moses, in the Prophets and in the Psalms, was destined to be fulfilled.’ He then opened their minds to understand the scriptures, (Luke 24:44-45) ‘It is the spirit that gives life, the flesh has nothing to offer. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life. (John 6:63) So we have confirmation of the words of the prophets; and you will be right to pay attention to it as to a lamp for lighting a way through the dark, until the dawn comes and the morning star rises in your minds. At the same time, we must recognise that the interpretation of scriptural prophecy is never a matter for the individual. For no prophecy ever came from human initiative. When people spoke for God it was the Holy Spirit that moved them. (2 Peter 1:19-21) (See also: Romans 1:16-25; 15:4; 1 Corinthians 9:10; 10:1-12; Acts 24:14-15.) “What if the Bible is simply one more diversion of Satan?” Here’s what Jesus had to say to those that were claiming that He was working with Satan: Knowing what was in their minds he said to them, ‘Every kingdom divided against itself is heading for ruin; and no town, no household divided against itself can last. Now if Satan drives out Satan, he is divided against himself; so how can his kingdom last? (Matthew 12:25-26) …so if it is as you claim… what would Satan achieve by setting up a anthology which, for the most part, speaks about his demise and his impotence? I mean, what scary plans is he brewing where some of his commands are to reject the devil and to get closer to God (James 4:7)? What super mind concocts his own destruction (Genesis 3:15; Revelation 20:9-10, 14, 15; 21:8) and cedes victory to his nemesis (John 16:33; Matthew 4:10-11; 8:28-29; John 12:31; 14:30; 16:11; Revelation 11:15, 17; 19:6; 20:4, 6; 22:5; 1 John 4:4)? “I am still reviewing the bible to try and get a bit more knowledge.” Faith, my friend… what you are searching for will not reveal itself in worldly ways and worldly wisdom… you must subject yourself to God and He will exalt you (Hebrews 11:1-40; James 4:10; 1 Peter 5:6; James 1:5; 1 Corinthians 1:20-31; 2:7-16; Ephesians 3:10-21)! |

697 | Is the Bible itself evil? | 2 Tim 3:16 | JCrichton | 135676
Part 2 of 2 “how can we beat Satan” I have told you all this so that you may find peace in me. In the world you will have hardship, but be courageous: I have conquered the world. (John 16:33) Still, I am telling you the truth: it is for your own good that I am going, because unless I go, the Paraclete will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. And when he comes, he will show the world how wrong it was, about sin, and about who was in the right, and about judgement: about sin: in that they refuse to believe in me; about who was in the right: in that I am going to the Father and you will see me no more; about judgement: in that the prince of this world is already condemned. (John 16:7-11) Only in Jesus are we able to defeat Satan: I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in me, with me in him, bears fruit in plenty; for cut off from me you can do nothing. (John 15:5) There is nothing I cannot do in the One who strengthens me. (Philippians 4:13) “My ideal world ” There’s nothing wrong with a good imagination--as long as we are able to separate fiction from reality… I am a Sci-Fi aficionado… I would love to travel in a spaceship or do some time travel… we are a miniature copy of God’s essence so we are able to dream and create and discover… He has not set limits to our healthy growth… when we read Scripture, we will find limitations that curb only those fields which Satan can use to cause our spiritual and physical bankruptcy… in Christ, we have the power to build the Church, His Body, with the full capacity of our creative, intellectual, and spiritual being! …much of what you envision is already granted in God… you must search, in humble faith, Scripture and you must submit your will to God’s Will! God Bless! Angel |

698 | who could have been taken up like jesus | 2 Tim 3:16 | JCrichton | 136191
Hi, Greenhornet! Though there are Scriptural references to two who were taken up to Heaven (Enoch: Genesis 5:22-24 and Elijah: 2 Kings 2:11), neither were taken up into Heaven as Jesus was--since both Enoch and Elijah were taken into Heaven bodily and for the purpose of serving God, they differ from Jesus in that He had a Glorified body, Willed Himself to ascend into Heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father, begining His Eternal Reign! (Acts 2:32-36; 7:55-57; Romans 8:34; Ephesians 1;20-21; colossians 3:1; Hebrews 1:3-13; 8:1; 10:12; 12:2; 1 Peter 3:22) God Bless! Angel |

699 | The Bible, Creators word or what? | 2 Tim 3:16 | JCrichton | 150463
Hi, Kate! Can you imagine people from the 14th century speaking about a super computer that has remote access, DVDR, with a Pentium or what ever chip and with 200 Gigabites of RAM? Now take that back a few thousand years... here's this messenger complaining that his boss refuses to give a cell phone with a built-in camera... get the picture? The Bible is not an unabridge farmer's almanac... it is Salvation History... it is the Word of God full of doctrinal teachings and prophecies... full of revelations and warnings... all dealing with our spiritual well-being! God has revealed enough for the human mind to ponder and asimilate... we are called to learn about God through His Word... but God is intertwined with the Holy Scripture so we must depend on His revelation, through the Holy Spirit, to gain understanding of the Truth! But no one can convict us of God's existence! No one can convict us of God's Word! We must humble ourselves to God and He will make Himself known (1 Peter 5:6-11): If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. (James 1:5) God has allowed you and I to know Him through His Word and through the world around us: 19since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. 21For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles. 24Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen. 26Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. 27In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion. 28Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. 29They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them. (Romans 1:19-32) Ultimately, though, it is up to us to believe or not believe: 14Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, 15that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life. 16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. 19This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God." (John 3:14-21) Christ is God and this is what He says about the Word: 47"As for the person who hears my words but does not keep them, I do not judge him. For I did not come to judge the world, but to save it. 48There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; that very word which I spoke will condemn him at the last day. (John 12:47-48) I will pray that the Holy Spirit enlinghten and guide you to the Truth: Jesus! God Bless! Angel |

700 | How does God determine the difference? | Heb 6:1 | JCrichton | 133729
Hi, Mommapbs! I read through the thread... I think that part of the problems we (Christians) have is that we come to Scripture and take away different understanding of what God is saying because we breakdown Scripture to individual passages and subpassages that support our personal views... I look at Scripture as a whole... sometimes it seems that Scripture contradicts Scripture... but that is only if seen from a limited perspective... ie: We find Scripture that tells us that those who call on the Lord will be saved! ...so many people run with that particular verse/s and any others that support it... Yet Jesus Himself tells us that not all who call Him Lord will enter the Kingdom of Heaven! So... are we saved if we call Him Lord or are we not saved?... Jesus further explains that only those who do as He commands can be saved... and He offers a comparison with those who merely claim to know Him and those who actually obey Him (Matthew 7:21-27; Luke 6:46; Matthew 25:31-46). Clearly, we ourselves can do nothing to merit Salvation but our faith is not mere chanting of words because they are found in Scripture, we must be doers of the Word (James 1:22) and the call of the Word is that we humbly obey Christ and His Command (Matthew 17:5). Obeying Christ is doing His Will and His Will is quite clear (Luke 22:25; Matthew 5:20; 25:31-46). God Bless! Angel |
