Bible Question:
Why in these convusing times we live in are we to believe the Bible is really our Creators words, why would'nt or Creator make it obvious so there would be no confussion atleast on that matter? Whats the point of all the mystery? Just confirm to me the Bible is the word of our Creator and would'nt I Love God all the more and not spend all my extra time trying to proof it to myself and others! |
Bible Answer: Hi, Kate! Can you imagine people from the 14th century speaking about a super computer that has remote access, DVDR, with a Pentium or what ever chip and with 200 Gigabites of RAM? Now take that back a few thousand years... here's this messenger complaining that his boss refuses to give a cell phone with a built-in camera... get the picture? The Bible is not an unabridge farmer's almanac... it is Salvation History... it is the Word of God full of doctrinal teachings and prophecies... full of revelations and warnings... all dealing with our spiritual well-being! God has revealed enough for the human mind to ponder and asimilate... we are called to learn about God through His Word... but God is intertwined with the Holy Scripture so we must depend on His revelation, through the Holy Spirit, to gain understanding of the Truth! But no one can convict us of God's existence! No one can convict us of God's Word! We must humble ourselves to God and He will make Himself known (1 Peter 5:6-11): If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. (James 1:5) God has allowed you and I to know Him through His Word and through the world around us: 19since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. 21For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles. 24Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen. 26Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. 27In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion. 28Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. 29They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them. (Romans 1:19-32) Ultimately, though, it is up to us to believe or not believe: 14Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, 15that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life. 16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. 19This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God." (John 3:14-21) Christ is God and this is what He says about the Word: 47"As for the person who hears my words but does not keep them, I do not judge him. For I did not come to judge the world, but to save it. 48There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; that very word which I spoke will condemn him at the last day. (John 12:47-48) I will pray that the Holy Spirit enlinghten and guide you to the Truth: Jesus! God Bless! Angel |
