641 | a time for every purpose under heaven | Eccl 3:8 | CDBJ | 139645
Hello “He-man”, Very interesting case and point and I am glad that you brought up Rome as the example. Rome in the days of their popularity or glory was better known as SPQR All of the history records will show that the fall of SPQR was due to their military infra structure breaking down. The best defense that a country can have is a great offense. No body wants to end up on the short end of the stick and as a result nobody wants to mess with a country that has a strong and powerful military. No one has ever won a war defending something; all they are doing is postponing defeat. The only way to win a war is, historically explicit, attack, attack and attack! Jesus told us what the future would be like and in order to be a survivor it was obvious what was needed to be done. This has been the life history of the Jews. Mark 13:7 And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not troubled: for such things must needs be; but the end shall not be yet. The peace doves are very delicious when prepared right!!!!!!!! Have a nice day, because some brave American has paid the ultimate price in battle so that you can have a nice day! CDBJ |

642 | Hindu belief in reincarnation? | Eccl 12:7 | CDBJ | 179220
Greetings Palau and welcome to the Bible forum. There are millions of “religions” in the world and for one too try and justify what others believe by using the Bible isn’t the actually objective of God’s Word. Technically speaking, Christianity “isn’t a religion”; it’s a “relationship”! It’s a relationship with God through the person of God’s Son, Jesus Christ. In “religion” man does the work to try to gain God’s approval but in Christianity God does all the work and the believers is Christ totally rely on what God did for them in the person of his Son. Example: Speaking of Jesus; John 1:12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, Contrary to popular belief, not every one on this Earth is a child of God. The Bible is very explicit when describing how one becomes a child of God. Galatians 3:26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. The key to becoming a son of God is by faith in Christ Jesus. That means a total trust in the person of Christ and the work He did. Have you had this experience yet in your life or is that something you’re not quite sure of at this point? I hope you enjoy the forum, CDBJ |

643 | Is this consistent with Rev 6:14-17? | Is 2:19 | CDBJ | 76302
I think Isaiah 2:19 and the verses in Rev. 6:14-17 are the same just as the verses in Matthew 24:29-31 and Rev. 6:12,13 are the same. Matthew 24:29-31 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 30And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. Rev. 6:12-13 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; 13And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. 644 | When will Jesus return this year? | Is 55:6 | CDBJ | 71253
There is a book out that is the most informative that I have ever read, with out exception on eschatology, that goes into explicit details. I have been interested in future thing ever since I was saved, back in 1965, and this is the first book that has answered all of my questions without leaving a bunch of loopholes that could be taken in several different way. I would advise all believers to read it no matter what their views are concerning future events. It backs up everything that it holds as truth and encourages any to find fault with it even to the point of listing an 800 phone number and a web site for comments an questions. It is called THE SIGN by Robert Van Kampen it is published by Crossway Books the ISBN is 1-58134-067-2 It is over 600 pages and is an excellent study guide. Matthew 24:4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. Matthew 24:36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. |

645 | Were the Jews doomed? | Is 58:2 | CDBJ | 230568
Are you trying to say that God’s Word, the Bible, is not telling the truth when it says the following? John 16:7-9 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. 8And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9Of sin, because they believe not on me; Aren’t the Jews a part of the world and if they are, the Holy Spirit is the one that reveals sin to those living in the world! Or are you saying that He isn’t doing His job??? CDBJ |

Rafiki23, Your question has set for quiet sometime now and apart form personally digging into Scripture I believe your subject is so exhaustive that a book would be needed for the answer. 647 | What does "ask the liver" mean? | Ezekiel | CDBJ | 172852
Greetings and welcome to the forum. There were some that would delve into the satanic arts of divination and the practice of looking at the liver of a fresh kill was one of the means of making decisions. It carries the same connotation as fortune tellers and tea readers today. It cracks me up when I see those little sign advertising fortune tellers, and they are always posted on the dumpiest looking places. If they were any good at all, and they aren’t, wouldn’t you assume that they would live in beautiful enormous mansions, since they would be hitting the lottery every week using their great psychic powers for personal gain? What a hoot, CDBJ |

648 | Compare Creatures Ezekiel Revelations | Ezekiel | CDBJ | 211266
Greetings and welcome to the forum. Here is the subject from the (Bible Knowledge Commentary) with reference to Ezekiel Ezekiel 1:10 As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle. CF Ezekiel 10:14 And every one had four faces: the first face was the face of a cherub, and the second face was the face of a man, and the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle. (BKC) 1:10. In recording more details of the cherubim (vv. 10-14), Ezekiel first described their faces. The front of each cherub was the face of a man, and on the right side was the face of a lion. The left side was the face of an ox, and the face of an eagle was apparently in the back. Some interpreters feel that these represent intelligence (man), power (lion), service (ox), and swiftness (eagle). However, it seems better to see the faces as representing the highest forms of life in God’s created realm. Man was mentioned first because he was the acme of God’s creative work. He was followed by the lion, “king” among wild beasts; the ox, one of the strongest of domestic animals; and the eagle, the “lord” of the birds. 10:14. Ezekiel then described the faces of the cherubim a second time (see comments on 1:10). However, an apparent discrepancy exists between these two descriptions. In chapter 1 the cherubim had the faces of a man, a lion, an eagle, and an ox; but in chapter 10 they had the faces of a cherub… a man… a lion, and an eagle. Some have suggested that a later scribe mistakenly copied “a cherub” in place of “face of an ox.” A second view is that the face of an ox was, in fact, the normal understanding of the face of a cherub. In Akkadian literature the (cognate of “cherub”) appear to have nonhuman faces I sure hope you enjoy the forum, CDBJ |

Greetings kicknchick and welcome to the forum, The Bible is a lot like math when it comes to its understanding. There are some portions of the Bible that could be compared to trigonometry in mathematics. The mystery in understanding the Bible is found in the New Testament. The New Testament is like the addition, subtraction multiplication and division, as it were; you need it first before the rest is made clear. The fact is, the natural man, with out the help of God Himself, can’t understand most of the thing that are written in the Bible. 1 Cor. 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. I have a suggestion that might clear the Bible up for you. Start reading the New Testament and ask God to reveal the truth that is contained in the New Testament and the Lord might open up your understanding and be your personal instructor. John 6:45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me. God has a very special life for you, and that Life will come about due to a personal relationship with the person that God sent. You can have your own personal link to God as a result of this relationship. 1 Tim. 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. The book of John was written so that you might have this new life, and understand the things of God. John 20:30-31 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: [31] But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. My suggestion, CDBJ |

651 | Who was the fourth beast? | Daniel | CDBJ | 112163
The final dominion will be that of Christ. Daniel 7:13-14 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. 14And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed. It would be better to call it the final or last dominion, CDBJ |

652 | Daniel 11:11-12 two different days | Daniel | CDBJ | 213109
Greetings, This is from the, (Bible Knowledge Commentary) The angel said that 1,290 days will be measured off from the time that the daily sacrifice is abolished (cf. 9:27, “he will put an end to sacrifice”) and the abomination that causes desolation is set up (cf. 9:27, “one who causes desolation will place abominations on a wing of the temple”). The last half of the 70th “seven” of years is “a time, times, and half a time” (7:25; Rev. 12:14), which is three and one-half years. It is also designated as 42 months (Rev. 11:2) or 1,260 days (Rev. 11:3). How then can the variance of 30 days (1,290 compared with 1,260) be explained? Some suggest that the 30 days will extend beyond the end of the Tribulation, allowing for the judgment of Israel and the judgment of the nations. Another possibility is that the 1,290 days will begin 30 days before the middle of the 70th “seven” of years when the world ruler will set up “the abomination that causes desolation” (Matt. 24:15). The 1,290 days could begin with an announcement (about the abomination) made 30 days before the abomination is introduced. This abomination, as stated earlier, will be an image of himself (Rev. 13:14-15) and will be the symbol of this religious system. 12:12-13. Blessing is pronounced on one who waits for and lives to see the end of the 1,335 days. This is an additional 45 days beyond the 1,290 days (v. 11). Forty-five days after the end of the Tribulation Israel’s long-awaited blessings will be realized. This may mark the blessing of the Millennium; or it may be when Christ, who will have appeared in the heavens (Matt. 24:30) 45 days earlier, will actually descend to the earth, His feet touching down on the Mount of Olives (cf. Acts 1:11). For believers Christ’s coming is a blessing and a glorious hope. Daniel did not live to see many of his prophecies fulfilled. He, the angel said, would rest, that is, in death (cf. v. 2). But he will be resurrected (you will rise at the end of the days), and he will receive his allotted inheritance in the Millennium. Because of Daniel’s faith in God he led a life of faithful service for Him, and for that faith and that obedience he will receive a glorious reward. All who like Daniel trust the Lord will share in the blessings of His millennial kingdom. CDBJ |

654 | How can we know the saints are only Jews | Dan 7:25 | CDBJ | 70553
Hello Chusarcik, Just to make it easer, the word Saint in the Old Testament comes to us from the Hebrew word, qadowsh, kaw-doshe'; or qadosh, kaw-doshe'; from Hebrew 6942 (qadash); sacred (ceremonial or moral); (as noun) God (by eminence), an angel, a saint, a sanctuary :- holy (One), saint. In the New Testament the word Saint comes to us from the Koine Greek and was, hagios, hag'-ee-os; from hagos (an awful thing) [compare Greek 53 (hagnos), Hebrew 2282 (chag)]; sacred (physical pure, moral blameless or religious, ceremony consecrated) :- (most) holy (one, thing), saint. It is basically those set aside who have believed in Jesus as the Son of God. |

655 | Agan,does it mean saints are Christians | Dan 7:25 | CDBJ | 70578
I am in 100 percent agreement with you on that one, when ever it mentions saints in the New Testament it is always referring to believers in Jesus Christ no mater if the are Jew or whatever. Romans 10:12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. |

656 | Please expound on your previous comments | Dan 7:25 | CDBJ | 70580
I would like to call to your attention to a verse that will cover all the doctrine of Scripture and this should be taken into consideration in all studying of God’s Word. Psalm 119:160 (NASB) The sum of Thy word is truth, And every one of Thy righteous ordinances is everlasting. Notice that it says, The sum of Thy word is truth, That means in order to have truth that all the verses that pertain to a certain subject have to agree before the truth of the subject is correct. If one verse seems to contradict your thesis then you better change your thesis to match up with Scripture or find what they call in fractions common denominator. |

657 | what time was evening sacrifice | Dan 9:21 | CDBJ | 220837
Greetings and welcome to the forum. The sacrifice was at 3:00 Jewish time and it was the Passover feast which took place on the 14Th of Nisan. The Passover lamb was to be picked out on the 10th of Nisan which that year was a Sunday, the day that Jesus came riding into Jerusalem on the foal. He was literally picked that day and four days later at exactly time of 3:00 o’clock He was sacrificed as the perfect lamb of God. The next day was a high Sabbath not a regular Saturday Sabbath as many think so it was mandatory that he be taken down and buried by 6:00 o’clock, in what we would call the evening but to the Jews it was the 15th of Nisan in the morning and the beginning of the feast of unleavened bread which lasted for seven days. Jesus was already dead on Wednesday and was in the earth as He stated for three day and nights. The first Sunday during the feast of unleavened bread contained a feast within a feast, and on Sunday Jesus arose from the grave during the feast of first fruits; Jesus Himself is the first fruit from the dead. The feast represented the spring feast of the barley pointing to the fact that the latter rain feast or the fall feast was to be the wheat harvest and much larger of which all believers will be a part. All of the feast, demanded by God in Lev. 23, point to the work that God would perform in the person of His Son. The first four were accomplished at Christ’s first coming and the last three feasts will be completed at His second coming. The next spring feast was the feast of weeks or Shavuot which was seventy times seven or 49 days with the celebration being of the 50th day and referred to as Pentecost. These four feast where in the spring and tied in with the former rains. When Christ returns it will be as the latter rains and the remaining feast will be fulfilled. Hosea 6:3 Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth. I hope this helps and I hope you enjoy the forum, CDBJ |

658 | Where is this king from? | Dan 11:36 | CDBJ | 35751
There are types and antitypes throughout the Bible and the verses in question, Dan. 11:36 were already played out once by Antiochus in the second century B.C. (I macc. 1:16-24) This can't be found in most of the protestant Bibles but it is nevertheless a written record of history. Antiochus was a type of the Antichrist to come, i.e. the final world ruler who will probably follow the same path right up to the abomination of desolation that was spoken of by Christ, Paul and John. This path included attacking the Kings of the South then returning to the land bridge that we call Israel. He is also referred in the Book of revelation as the little horn. Up until Russia was split apart as a nation this was rather difficult to figure out but now things are starting to fall into place since that nation has split apart. At least that how I see it, CDBJ (Ref.) The Sign by Robert Van Kampen pages 195, 196 |

660 | Where is Valley of Jehoshaphat? | Joel 3:2 | CDBJ | 176116
Hi Janet, This could be the answer to your question from the (Bible Knowledge Commentary) Joel 3:1-3. In the future day of the Lord Judah and her enemies will be carefully distinguished. The Lord will restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem, in fulfillment of Moses’ promise (cf. Deut. 30:3). At the same time God will gather the nations for judgment. The site of the judgment will be the Valley of Jehoshaphat, mentioned only in Joel 3:2, 12. Whether such a geographical site was known by this name in ancient Israel is not certain. Some scholars suggest it is a yet-future valley, to be formed by the splitting of the Mount of Olives at the Messiah’s return (Zech. 14:4). At any rate, the importance of the name is not in its geographical location, but in its meaning, “the Lord judges (BKC) CDBJ |
