1642 | The theme is unleashed waters to swin in | Ezek 47:5 | stjohn | 186174
Good day to you Searcher, Good point lots of water there in the flood. But look at this please and see if there is perhaps a spiritual significance to water. I believe that we can see this throughout the Bible. Leviticus 15:13 - And when he that hath an issue is cleansed of his issue; then he shall number to himself seven days for his cleansing, and wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in running water, and shall be clean. Psalms 65:9 Thou visitest the earth, and waterest it: thou greatly enrichest it with the river of God, which is full of water: thou preparest them corn, when thou hast so provided for it. (And may I say In this next verse we can see a clear spiritual significance. Note the reference, to the soul in drought, thou shalt be (like) a watered garden. ) Isaiah 58:11 And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not. Jeremiah 2:13 For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water. Ezekiel 36:25 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. (And this next verse is clearly metaphorical.) Joel 3:18 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the mountains shall drop down new wine, and the hills shall flow with milk, and all the rivers of Judah shall flow with waters, and a fountain shall come forth of the house of the LORD, and shall water the valley of Shittim. (This next verse I believe, Refers to the spiritual cleansing we get from God's word.) John 4:14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. (This next one lends credence to my last inference.) Ephesians 5:26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, Hebrews 10:22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Revelation 21:6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. Revelation 22:1 And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. Revelation 22:17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. Can you see how one could easily derive a spiritual signefecance from water, pretty much unless it very clearly refers to something else, like the man carrying the pitcher in Mark 14:13. So Brother, may I say, if you see a spiritual significance in water, I think its ok to go with it, even though you cant prove it. God bless. John |

1645 | Did satan tempt Jesus in the Garden? | Matt 26:39 | stjohn | 186134
Hello Love Peace and Joy! You are very welcome! And may I make the humble assumption, that we all would be very pleased to have you as a member of the forum. The words you have quoted are very beautiful. Pryer is indeed a sweet fellowship with our Lord Jesus, and a time that we can, in a sense, climb onto Daddies lap, for comfort and loving affection in a time of need. I would like to also at this time, to thank Doc for his reminder that we must be very aware, and carful, that although satin is well known as 'The tempter', the human hart is desperately wicked. And we should be ever aware that we should not try to blame 'The devil' for 'all' our wicked thoughts. Sometimes we may say to ourselves when we think we are going along just fine, "gee! Were Did that thought come from?" Well may I say, that we sometimes don't have to look very far, those thoughts, may be coming from our own evil hearts. But in the light of what is said in Luke 8:28 and again in Mark 5:7; that Satin and his minions were well aware of just who Jesus was. And I apologize for my seemingly terse statement of a universal truth, you will note however that I was careful not to imply direct involvement. Only that he was perhaps close at hand. And It is only my opinion, but I tend to believe if not directly involved, he was close at hand on that night. Thanks for the reminder Doc, sorry I didn't answer your note directly, but I'm pretty sure of your very astute observation to see this. Love Peace and Joy; it would sure be great, to see a little more about you in the user profile section. I Hope you stick around for a wile. God bless. John |

1647 | how to help them off their high horse? | Prov 16:18 | stjohn | 186120
I once knew a man who was prying to God to get his haughty and prideful wife off her high horse. And while he was praying he had a picture come to him, a vision if you please. And in this vision his wife was setting on her steed, and he was on the ground standing by her with his hand extended to her, as if to help her down from her horse. and he saw that of course God was showing him that he needed to help her down. And he was thinking that he was surely God's man to do the job. But then he noticed his own horse standing of to the side. And he suddenly realized that he had to get down from his own high horse to help her!

Hello brother Edwin, It is good as always to hear back from you. And thank you for your email. In response I have something I would like to share with the forum. This is not in response to the post it is attached, I am simply jumping in to one of your resent posts, if you please. You wrote; ***** "Hi Mark. Thank you for your kind words, it's great to have fellowship with you once more. but please dear brother don't put the cart before the horse. We were not dead in sins, before we were in Christ, but we were in Christ before we were dead in sins. You and I and all other people are inside the "Space Time Continuum", a creation of the Lord superimposed upon Eternity. Eternity is timelessness, and it is in Eternity that God the Father placed us in His Son before the beginning of time, however, we do not come into existence until after time was created (but He knew that we would exist). We were dead in sins at the point of our conception onwards, (see Psalm 51:5), and remained so until we were saved, after which we discover that we have been "in Christ" from before the foundation of the earth" ****** I think I do see, as well as one stuck in this thing that we humans call time can see, that is. It reminds me of a time not long after I was given the gift of God. And filled with the Spirit, I was joyfully building a retaining wall on my property, using rocks that are extremely numerous here. And I was singing praises, feeling very grateful that He had given to me all these wonderful free rocks for my project. And it dawned on me, that in the years past, before I knew God in the way that I now knew Him, I used to damn those very same rocks, as they were rough angular inordinately heavy and so very hard to handle. But now, I could see that because of their angular shape, rough surface and heaviness, they allowed me to build a strong durable wall, and without the need of any cement mortar. And I thought that God In His wonderful knowledge and wisdom of all things past present and future, knew even before He laid the foundation of the earth, and before these very rocks were made, because as far back as we can imagine, if we go there, we will meet Him coming toward us out of eternity. And that farther back then my limited puny human mind could ever imagine, He already knew me, and He knew that some glorious day, when the angels in heaven would sing in awesome wonder of His glorious mercy and grace, that I was created to be the kind of man that would believe God, and live. And I somehow knew these rocks were created just for me, and although I once damned them, I now was only grateful to God for everything, because he created the world and us puny little humans for His good pleasure, and that we as Christians can also be grateful that it pleases Him to please us, for we are His children. Alleluia! Glory to God in the highest! God bless. John |

1651 | Triumphal Entry of Christ | Luke 19:28 | stjohn | 186023
Thank you brother Tim; Sense you mentioned palm sunday, that reminded me of something I had recently read in a sermon by, C. H SPURGEON ********* Having all his life long carried their sicknesses and sorrows, he bore the burden of sin to the place of its annihilation, and by his death he made an end of it. Apart from the atonement, the chosen of God, like other men, lay under sin; the black cloud was over all the race, but Jesus took the dense mass of all the transgressions of his people, past, present, and to come, and obliterated the whole, even as a cloud is blotted out from the face of heaven. Jesus took the whole incalculably ponderous load, all charged with tempest as it was, and bore it all upon those shoulders, which must have been crushed to the earth had they not been divine: on the tree he bore that sin and the wrath which was due to it, feeling all its crowded tempests in his own soul, until in that moment when he had borne all, and ended all, he sent up the victorious shout of "It is finished." Then shone forth the unclouded glory of boundless love; then was gone for ever the threatened storm; then righteousness sprang out of the earth, and peace looked down from heaven, and the reconciled ones might well exclaim, "Sing, O heavens; for the Lord hath done it: shout, ye lower parts of the earth: break forth into singing, ye mountains, O forest, and every tree therein: for the Lord hath redeemed Jacob, and glorified himself in Israel." Sin was put away, transgression was cast into the depths of the sea, and loud o'er all rang out the jubilant challenge—"Who shall lay anything to the charge of God's elect? who is he that condemneth, now that Christ hath died?" I scarcely need to sketch that experience, for, my brethren, you know it well. Oh, the blackness of the darkness above; oh, the horror of the tempest within, in the dreadful hour of conviction of sin, when my weary soul longed for nothingness, that it might escape from its own hell. Oh the dread of the wrath to come. I saw all God's indignation gathering up to spend itself upon me, but glory be to God it spent itself elsewhere! ... C. H SPURGEON "The tempest's awful voice was heard; O Christ, it broke on thee! Thy open bosom was my ward, It braved the storm for me. Thy form was scarr'd, thy visage marr'd, Now cloudless peace for me." ************ "Jesus, thy blood and righteousness Their beauty are, their glorious dress; 'Midst flaming worlds, in these arrayed, With joy shall they lift up their head." ************ "Come every soul by sin oppressed, There's mercy with the Lord; And he will surely give you rest, By trusting in his word. Only trust him! Only trust him! Only trust him now! He will save you. He will save you. He will save you now." Good words: Peace. |

Dear Mr. Heretohelpno-onebuthisownspirituallyignorantmisunderstandingofscripture, It is precisely, for this reason, we who have spiritual discernment, through the indwelling of the Holly Spirt: (Who Is God!) And because; we are in Christ: (Who is God!) That we; have not fallen off the same cliff that the Jehovah wittiness, the Mormon, The Christian scientist, and every other ism and cult that is out there has fallen off. |

Hi doc, I dont know who wrote this, just something I thought was fitting. LIBERAL CHRISTIANS ARE, SYNTHETIC SAINTS; THEY HAVE, HUMANIZED CHRIST, NATURALIZED THE BIBLE, SOCIALIZED THE GOSPEL,DEVITALIZED SALVATION, IMMUNIZED THE CROSS, EMASCULATED REGENERATION, AND FUMIGATED SIN; THEY APPLY REDEMPTION AS A COSMETIC! God Bless. John |

hello Brother! So true, and more wise words to keep in our heart. It does seem so hard to pull them back. But I am reminded of the prodigal son, If they are truly His, the good shepherd will get them out of the pigpen, and bring them home. I was listening to sermon today and he was saying how so many Christians, like to hang around the edge of the cliff instead of running as far from it as they can, and to Jesus, and the Cross. Thanks doc. God bless. John P.S. Having a problem enrolling at setting captives free? Can you help? |

1659 | eph 1:4-5 what is predestination, chosen | Bible general Archive 3 | stjohn | 185914
Hello Edwin! Greetings! I can see your point, and it is well taken and I know what you mean. but there is sometimes a problem with the terms that we as Christians use. Conversion for example can be one of them. here are just three definitions given in the dictionary. 1. the act or process of converting; state of being converted. 2. change in character, form, or function. 3. spiritual change from sinfulness to righteousness. Some use this term to mean the same thing as being born again, and this is understandable. And being born again, is certainly a one tine shot, if you please. But lets look at this please, if you will. And, I'm not debating your your inference, I'm just trying to come to an understanding of terms. Although we know that we are born once in the Spirt, there is as we know an ongoing process of sanctification, and looking at the definition of conversion, this can certainly be construed as the same as sanctification, i,e. the ongoing process i.e. we are being transformed/converted/sanctified. to the image of Christ. I hope this can bring us to a unification of terms. Again, I am not disagreeing with inference, just definitions. thank you brother. God bless. John |
