Hi Finder, Hope this will help you out a bit - one of our brothers suggested reading Clark and many others. I can identify with your lack of money for purchasing books. If you follow the link for more Biblical sources on this home page, you will be taken to a site called e-Sword. When I found it last week, I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. It's wonderful and mostly free and contains much information. You might even find some of those answers you're looking for (or in the very least, a direction toward those answers needed). But also keep in mind that some things are as they are because they are. They were deemed that way by our Father God. It will all be made clear in That Great Day, but not before. After all, if we had all the answers, where would the need of faith come in? Blessings Cheri |

Hello Finder Thank God we don't need to be knocked on the side of the head - we have His blessed written Word; it would indeed be nice but we don't need flashing lights and voices from heaven (which last but only a moment) - we have the eternal blessed Word of God; we don't need a visit to the third heaven - we have the written Word of God (Paul did not, at least not all of it). On the other side of the coin, Paul was beaten and left for dead, shipwrecked, and thrown into prison numerous times, he had to be sneaked out of town or murdered - his life was full of perils - how would you have fared? Even with lights and voices and visits, would your works have the substance to stand the test of fire as his did? And don't put Paul on a false pedestal. He had his moments of doubt, of wondering - you can hear it in his letters - but you can also hear the renewing of his mind in his letters - the part that says "I believe," "I am convinced," and "I am fully persuaded." I am very happy God chose him, and not someone from 2007 to do that job. Quite frankly, I honestly don't think people today have that kind of muster. The first time someone in authority told us to quit speaking that Name or be imprisoned we'd be on our cell phones to our lawyer to find a way around the law, instead of just doing what God told us to do. Just as an afterthought: someone once said: "Some things are commanded because they are right, other things are right because they are commanded." And faith, sanctification, work, and ministry are commanded. Blessings Cheri PS I just realized I didn't address your actual question, so let me put it in the venacular, with a picture anyone can identify with. You are a parent, you tell your child that next month you are going to take him to Disney World. Child has a choice of two reactions: cross arms over chest and say "yeah, I'll believe it when I see the tickets and the castle" or "oh boy, oh boy, wow! Thanks. I gotta tell somebody!" Which is pleasing to a parent? I know that oversimplifies the subject but it does simply boil down to Heb. 11:1 "calling those things which be not as though they were." I mentioned the written Word at the beginning of this note and that Word has been fulfilled time and again. It's God's way of telling His children He's gonna take us to a much better place than Disney World. What is your reaction to that promise? |

Hi Finder, I don't understand your reaction of 'Yesterday is too late' (although in general that's absolutely true). Please explain? Also, why is faith in God such a struggle for you? You exercise faith on a daily basis on things and people far less proved and reliable. I'll bet if your weatherman tells you it's gonna be 30 or below tomorrow that you won't plan on wearing your shorts and sandles - yet how many times a month is he wrong? And he's somebody who doesn't give a flying leap about you personally. Yet you trust him. God has been proved true over and over again, and He's much more reliable. And He cares for you like no one else ever has or will. Also, I didn't use the word "flare," I said "fare." Makes a difference in the rendering of the question. Blessings Cheri |

Finder, I'll respect that but I'll leave the offer open. And the rest of your note has me baffled. I'm not sure what you're trying to say. 1John 2:12-14 John speaks to little children, sons (young men) and fathers. Maybe you're trying to delve into things meant for fathers before you've gained revelation for sons....? We are spiritual beings but our growning is still going to mimic that of growing in the natural. We can't run if we haven't learned to walk, and we can't stomach the meat of the Word if we haven't been weaned off the milk. Blessings Cheri |

finder yes, that is a good scripture. and i'm gonna bow out of this discussion for now, there are others on the forum who know a whole lot more than me. Maybe one of these will be able to help you with your difficulties. Blessings and I pray you find your answers Cheri |

412 | find . NT.."call things that are not... | Is 55:11 | skccab | 191155
Hi imani5, I come out of the WOF group (I was in it many many years ago) and they love to use Heb. 11:1 and rephrase it as - 'calling those things that are not as though they were' - thus inspiring speaking words of faith and not words of doubt. They are not completely wrong (in some areas of their teachings) but there is enough error in their doctrine to be very dangerous. It's best to stick to what the Bible actually says. :-) I hope this helps. Cheri |

Hi Doc, I've had to do some major dumping out over the last year - happy to say it took me a few minutes to remember to make that connection :-). And I am learning that the Word does indeed interpret itself most of the time. Jesus Reigns! Cheri |

414 | Bride - Church or New Jerusalem? | Is 61:10 | skccab | 185878
OK, thanks. So it is probably just a matter of semantics. As I noted in v9 The bride Is The city of New Jerusalem. It is as before, just an identification. As a single parent may sometimes be identified as the missing parent to suit a given situation, he/she is never seen as actually that parent. OK - getting stonger back in the old view. It's just that everyone now seems so comfortable calling themselves "the bride" rather than "as a bride." But personally, I am much more comfortable calling myself and brothers/sisters in the Lord as "the body of Christ" - a term that actually links the two. Christ and the bride have to be two distinct entities. Alright. This works. Thanks for listening to me and helping me work thru what was trying to become a confusion. Cheri |

Fellowlaborer Thank you for your thoughts. I'm just getting off midnight shift so my brain is not so swift. I orginally didn't have a scripture reference when I posed the question (I'm not sure how it got there, I'm very new to this and all forums and their mysteries!), I was just wondering mainly about the part of Rev. 21 where there is no question about who/what "the bride, the lamb's wife" is. I will ponder what you wrote prayerfully, and follow your references tonight at work. Thank you for them. And isn't this place such a blessing? So many new family members to get to know. Blessings Cheri |

416 | Trouble with Pronouns | Is 63:11 | skccab | 212931
Doc, Thanks, didn't think to do that. In the suggested versions it reads "His people remembered..." so it would be safe to conclude that it is in lowercase by error and is indeed referring to God - "Then He remembered..."? Cheri |

Keliy, Thank you so much for the research!! I really like the NKJV. I have the CJB that I use when checking out OT verses, but had misplaced it (have found it since) and it agrees with your understanding (it uses, I think, the JPS version of the Hebrew Scriptures). That verse just stopped me in my tracks. That happens sometimes :o) BTW, good work on the John the Baptist response! Cheri |

418 | Saved or not ? | Jer 17:9 | skccab | 189033
Hank, I know this has been gone over before, but not to the point of answering my question. You stated: "God has not made it His business to make any man privy to whether another man is saved or lost. It's the same with who's elect and who is not elect" You make it sound like one can be saved but not elect. How is this possible? What is the difference? I always thought that if you are saved then you are elect. Did I misunderstand you? blessings cheri |
