361 | Will every man hear the gospel? | Ps 19:1 | skccab | 209741
Kcab, I coulodn't tell you the explanation on that. But I do believe that adding baptism to the equation takes away the "free" from salvation by the Grace of God and adds a "works" to it. And asking a question when you already have an answer and an argument for a given position is NOT a good thing. :-) Cheri |

362 | Will every man hear the gospel? | Ps 19:1 | skccab | 209756
Shalom Kcab, Forgiveness isn't an issue, I just stated a point as it appeared to me. It seemed to me you already had taken a position on the subject prior to asking the question. If I was wrong, then YOU forgive ME!! And we'll just start over again. Yes? Yet, my answer does remain the same, just as stjohn told you in a later post - salvation is free, by the Grace of God, if baptism is part of the equation, then the gift of salvation is no longer a gift, nor is it free, we have worked for and earned it. Baptism is an act of obedience to a command of our King, nothing more, nothing less. Cheri |

363 | Will every man hear the gospel? | Ps 19:1 | skccab | 209761
Kcab, Well, then, thank you kindly. I'm actually glad to be the one who was wrong in this case :-) for it means you were not being deceitful - and that's a very good thing. It is sometimes difficult to properly weigh what someone means when it's just words that we have to deal with. Being in person in the world to come is going to be so much nicer, isn't it? I'm sure we will all find each other and sit in a big circle as we get to know one another! (About a million years after we get there!!) Cheri |

Thank you believer, I had missed the list in Ezek (been several months since I read Ezek). I've been pretty much used to the listing as seen in Gen and then the one in Rev. kind of threw me for a loop!! Shalom Cheri |

368 | Can prayer change perfect will of God? | Ps 115:3 | skccab | 195025
Hey Brad, I have a question then concerning intercessory prayer. In Exodus 32:9-14, God is telling Moses that He'll destroy the Children of Israel and make of Moses a great nation. Moses intercedes for the people and God relents. Which was His perfect will - to destroy the people or not? Would He have destroyed them if Moses had not interceded? If so, then prayer must somehow change God's decisions in some matters, don't you think? And the other instance that comes to mind is Abraham and Lot. Wasn't God's perfect will changed there by prayer also? Not wanting to argue the point, just wanting to clear up my confusion here. :-) Shalom Cheri |

369 | Can prayer change perfect will of God? | Ps 115:3 | skccab | 195037
Good afternoon Brad Thank you so much for your effort, but it didn't do the trick. Confusion still abounds. If what you and Spurgeon state is correct, then what is the purpose of prayer? The narrative of the two events remain - God was going to do one thing and man intervened by prayer and God did something else. I don't understand why He conferred with these 2 men of His about His plans, but the narratives clearly state that He did and He listened and events were changed. :-) Cheri |

370 | Can prayer change perfect will of God? | Ps 115:3 | skccab | 195039
John, I didn't say that I "need" to understand! But what is being said goes against what is clearly in the Scriptures. The Scriptures clearly show that man can make a difference. If this is not the case, then why are we told to pray in situations? What purpose does it serve other than to soothe our finite minds with false hope/assurances? I don't think our God would tell us to do something that would be a total waste of time (seeing as how we have so little of it) doing something that ultimately is of no avail. Prayer MUST change situations! :-) Cheir |

Howdy John, I thought that was an awful fast reply right above mine!!! :-) I know prayer is commanded and I know that it works. That is what is confusing to me about the other posts - they make it sound like NOTHING will change God's mind. And that is where my confusion is coming from. Well, you can read the thread, I won't be redundant by repeating. Shalom Cheri |

372 | Can prayer change perfect will of God? | Ps 115:3 | skccab | 195060
Hey Val, Shalom I'm not "picking" on you, your's is just the end of the thread so I'm posting to here :-) (In fact, I've thoroughly enjoyed reading what you have written before, very enlightening!) The problem I'm having is that it sounds like at the beginning, He was wanting to destroy the whole lot of them and re-make a nation of Moses, but Moses interceded for the whole lot of them and God relented of His anger against the nation, and did not destroy all of them. I'm not arguing the point of God's sovereignty, not at all, I'm just trying to understand those passages (and the ones of Abraham and Lot) in the light of the previous posts. That's all. Cheri |

Shalom Brad I have just read your post on the attributes of God. I agree with everything it said (I even agree with what you originally said), I guess that's what's causing the problem with me (note operative word :-) ) I guess I'll just have to leave this one for that glorious time we are all gathered together before Him. But thank you soooo much for taking the time and effort to un-confuse me!! And thank you to everyone else who has tried also. I'll get there, eventually, truly I will :-) Cheri |

Shalom Jonn Thank you for your reply. Maybe that's my problem, I'm pretty young in the faith, full of awe, and I can get confused very easily, especially if I try to "overthink" something. Thank you for your efforts, they are much appreciated. I hope someday I can be of such assistance! Cheri |

Val Shalom After yours and many others help yesterday, I finally "got it" about intercessory prayer. Thank you for your efforts. The Abrahan and Lot episode in question begins at Gen. 18:16 to the end of the chapter. Shalom is Hebrew for "peace" and is also used as a welcoming "hello" and a promised "see ya later." :-) Cheri |

God bless you, Gye, and all of God's SBF'ers for the much needed help. Cheri |
