Well, we have the Gen. account about the waters parting for the land at creation. And then don't we have another time in Gen. when the land parted, wouldn't that also part the waters? Sorry for lack of scripture references, at work right now, just using (hopefully not faulty) memory :-). Shalom Cheri |

562 | Today, Christians are Israel | Heb 8:8 | skccab | 193684
Doc, Excellent!! Rom. 8:6-8 But it is not as though the word of God has failed. For they are not all Israel who are descended from Israel; 7) nor are they all children because they are Abraham's descendants, but "Through Isaac your descendants will be named." 8) That is, it is not the children of the flesh who are children of God, but the children of the promise are regarded as descendants. Please, Doc, do share those scriptures, I would love to read them. There are a few that I know of but right now they escape me (I've been up for 24hrs now). Shalom Cheri |

Jesusfreak, Right off the bat, I can't think of exactly where, but in the book of Acts, there was the girl that kept harassing Peter and his companion. They cast the demon out of her and her owners got angry cos she was their money-maker? Cheri |

564 | Wearing the clothes of the Priests? | Lev 19:19 | skccab | 193623
Hey Doc, You should know by now that those aren't "my" words (I'm pro-Torah), but in previous studies of Hebrews, that's pretty much how it would be approached - like the writer of the book is telling the audience that it's bad and done away with. I've always had a problem with that approach, but knew no other. Til recently. :-) Still learning Cheri |

565 | Wearing the clothes of the Priests? | Lev 19:19 | skccab | 193619
Hi Lionheart, How are you? Thank you for your encouragement (you too, Doc). I'm studying Hebrews from a comparative (rather than a contrasting) perspective and it's making me see things quite differently. Instead of the writer telling these people that the temple system is bad and abolished (because they were from the system and the system had worked and served its purpose)- and the writer never does say this. I'm looking at the time period - they had been a part of the temple, then accepted, then tolerated, but now they are being kicked out unless they renounce Yeshua. The writer is telling them to hang tough, the Temple was good but Yeshua is better; that the sacrifice system they are having to leave behind for Yeshua was good and did its work as it was supposed to do but they still have a better High Priest offering better sacrifices. This is just opening up Hebrews so wonderfully. I don't know if I worded this well or not but seeing it in a good to better view works so much better than in a bad to good view. :-)???? Shalom Cheri |

566 | Wearing the clothes of the Priests? | Lev 19:19 | skccab | 193586
Hey Doc, morning, I'm doing sooo good!!! I attached this to my own previous message duh!!!!! As I mentioned before, I'm doing a study of Hebrews and this verse showed up: Heb. 8:3-4 (4 in particular) For every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices; so this High Priest too has to have something He can offer. (4) Now if He were on earth, He wouldn't be a priest at all, since there already are priests offering the gifts required by the Torah. (I swear the last time I read Hebrews verse 4 wasn't there!!!!) :-) But doesn't that kinda clear up the Ezekiel temple problem? It must be the heavenly Temple that Ezekiel sees. You think? Still hanging in there :-) Cheri |

571 | Wearing the clothes of the Priests? | Lev 19:19 | skccab | 193456
Afternoon, Doc, Thank you, Doc, for answering so quickly. I'm doing an in-depth study of Hebrews and it took me to Ezekiel's temple. This time, I noticed for the first time that the yom kippur sacrifice is noticeably NOT cited among the sacrifices that are mentioned and thought that very interesting (and must be meaningful). I guess if Charles Spurgeon doesn't know what it means, and you don't know what it means - then I'm in very good company :-). Shalom Cheri P.S. I'm not sure what the "doctrine" or "theology" of dispensationalism is, but if it's what I think it is, I don't buy into it either. I used to own a Dake's Annotated and I kinda get the picture of God scratching His head going, "Oops, I didn't see that one coming, let's see what I can do to fix this and get things back on track." (I over-simplified it a bit, I know.) Our God doesn't change. And again: After I'd posted this morning, I read that you had had some surgery. It sounds like you are well on your way to a remarkable recovery!! This is a good report. I will continue to lift you up in my prayers. You are much loved and appreciated, my brother. |

572 | Wearing the clothes of the Priests? | Lev 19:19 | skccab | 193442
Howdy Doc, Ezek. 43:18-27 Many say this "prince" is Yeshua in the future temple. I don't have an opinion yet either way - but I do take notice of the fact that there is NO lamb offering being cited. Ezek. 44:1-31 These verses do have much to say about the clothing of the priests (of whom Yeshua is the High Priest). What have you learned about these scenes, Doc? You always have good answers, and I haven't gotten as far as Ezek. in my studies yet. But I don't think I believe that all these chapters are about an imaginary Temple, and because there is no LAMB sacrifice, I think this Temple is a future temple, in the millennium? in Heaven? I'm wanting to know. Shalom Cheri |

574 | sarah and abraham children | Gen 11:30 | skccab | 193365
Hi mzdnl, The Bible says nothing about Sarah having more children - so it stands to reason that Isaac was the only child she gave birth to. After her death, Abraham remarried and had children by this second wife. |

575 | Must Christians keep the Sabbath today? | Ex 20:8 | skccab | 193341
God's day to you xcaret, I agree with you that Shabbot is the day that sets apart the nation of Israel (original and grafted-in) but WOS is absolutely right in bringing to your remembrance "that where there are two or three" gathered in His name, there He is in the midst of them - on Monday or Wednesday, and, yes, even on Sunday! Please, don't take G-d's Word and beat your brethren up with it! Our G-d is One of love and patience and understanding - I think He'd sooner we all worship him at 3pm on Thursday than we get into strife over it :-). Remember He is our Sar Shalom Cheri |

578 | How do we see ourselves? | NT general Archive 1 | skccab | 193267
Steve, It's been such a pleasure having this discussion with you. I've really enjoyed it. And I'll happily agree with you!! We were both horrible empty sinners headed for hell that got saved by the grace and mercy of our God. And now we are brand new creations, our minds are being renewed to think the thoughts of God and to do His good works. We are a mighty, marvelous work in process, being transformed into the image of the Son Himself. We have the tendencies of sin within us, and we miss the mark sometimes, but if we continue to forge onward with the prize of the mark of God's HIGH calling before us, we are far more than just sinners saved by grace. Have a blessed day, Steve Cheri |

579 | How do we see ourselves? | NT general Archive 1 | skccab | 193243
Good evening Steve, How's your day been? Blessed, I pray? Thank you so much for joining me in my journey. I hope you enjoyed the moments of contemplation on the subject of just who we are in the Lord, I know that I have and have learned a few things. I can see where you are coming from and freely concede that sin definitely does remain in us - but I still think it's more to do with comfortable habits, natural human inclinations, laziness and pure stupidity rather than the "original" sinful inclinations that we as humans inherited from Adam's deed. Rom. 14:12-14 The night is almost gone, and the day is near. Therefore let us lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. 14:13 Let us behave properly as in the day, not in carousing and drunkeness, not in sexual promiscuity and sensuality, not in strife and jealousy, 4:14 But put on the Lord Yeshua Messiah, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts. Those verses tell me we have a choice. (Which you also stated.) But I think I choose to see myself more as the "new creation," being re-born of the Spirit and the Water and having all things be new. Then I can relate much better to Paul's exhortation of Phil 3:13-16 3:13 Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, 3:14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Messiah Yeshua. 4:15 Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, have this attitude; and if in anything you have a different attitude, God will reveal that also to you; 4:16 however, let us keep living by that same standard to which we have attained. Personally, I have trouble reconciling the thought that I or any of my brethren in the Lord (and you , definitely included!) who are "perfect" (4:15) can possibly be "sinners" also. If we keep looking back at what we once were, at where we once were, it's going to be very difficult to stay focused on what we are becoming and where we are heading. Don't you think? Doesn't that give the "old man" opportunity to take the lead, so to speak? I'm not trying to argue with you, dear brother, and I am taking to heart everything you are sharing with me; and I'm not trying to get you to go with my way of thinking either, I'm just trying to make the two aspects somehow make sense, meld. Still in a quandry!! Cheri |
