441 | Covenant of Salt | OT general | skccab | 195815
Thanks Doc, I thought maybe my Bible was just lacking some references. Glad to know that isn't it. It sounds like Num. 18:19 is speaking of a specific covenant that was made using salt and I was trying to find what the covenant is. I guess that's one of the Deut. 29:29 things :-). Shalom Cheri |

442 | Phinehas and the plague | Num 25:4 | skccab | 195806
Shalom brother Let me know what you find, even if it's days or weeks from now. I've got that question written now in back of Bible to keep a look out on it. Never know what may pop up in some other study that will relate :-). And you're right about sister Val. Aren't we blessed to have such a network of Spirit-filled believers to walk with us on our journey? |

443 | Phinehas and the plague | Num 25:1 | skccab | 195802
Shalom dear Val, Thank you. I somehow missed the part about the two being in a position of influence or distinction. Between you and John the picture is coming into better focus :-) Cheri |

444 | Phinehas and the plague | Num 25:4 | skccab | 195796
P.S. John I'm asking because in Ps. 106:30-31 is says that Phinehas' action was counted for him as righteousness. That's why I'm wondering about the 2 people in particular. |

445 | Phinehas and the plague | Num 25:4 | skccab | 195795
God bless you John, I was afraid I should have added those passages in my question. It all leads up to the one leader and his Midianite woman going into the tabernacle and Phinehas running them through with his saber or sword/spear and then the plague is stopped. So I was wondering if somewhere in scripture (that I missed or didn't understand) it was stated exactly what the significance of these two deaths in particular, at the hand of Phinehas, had to do with the plague stopping. Or am I trying to "over" understand it? Cheri |

Shalom Val, I liked the way you tried to bring things back around to where they should be - our focus back on what is important. :-) The One who has appeared to all of us - Our King!! Thank you!! Cheri |

448 | Where does Cain's wife come from? | OT general | skccab | 195693
And an Amen! to Azure. Nightmare, the line of Cain was destroyed in the Flood. Biblical genealogies are given to prove the heritage of the Promised One. The line of Adam to Seth goes to the line of Noah and his sons, who alone began the line that would lead to Messiah. That is what all the genealogies are presented for. Before you post again, I would suggest you yourself re-read Genesis, and get your facts straight, dear. |

beguile in Hebrew, nasha, can mean to "morally" seduce, but also to lead astray or to mentally delude. The latter two meanings fall into the context of the conversation that took place between the serpent and Eve, and the last meaning fits perfectly. Be careful when using only one interpretation when there are more - you'll find yourself in much trouble trying to get out of the mire!

Shalom Brad, Thank you for sharing that piece from Torrey. It helps. I don't believe that there are any errors or contradictions either, but like Torrey said, sometimes our limited knowledge makes it appear so. Case in point: the genealogy found in Matthew 1 - it gives 3 breakdowns of 14 generations each, but the 3rd breakdown stops at the birth of Messiah which is only 13 generations. To someone new, or just reading with the intellect that would appear to be an error or contradiction. It is probably listed elsewhere what the missing generation is but I kind of like to think that the 14th generation is us, the believers who have been born into the Family of God by grace through trust in Yeshua. still learning Cheri |

452 | during the 3 days? | Matthew | skccab | 195362
I knew that Scofield was dispensational but didn't know that Ryrie was. Thanks for the insight. But I've reached the place where I won't use a bible that has anything more than cross-references, for that reason. Too many differing opinions!! Cheri |

Hey Jesusman, I always thought that that statement kind of went along with what we read in Hebrews about the heavenly utensils being cleansed. That He shouldn't be touched prior to this being done in the heavenlies. |

Shabbat Shalom Linda, I'm not sure if you'll get a response from homechurch, the post you have so sweetly responded to is almost 7years old. If you look to the right of the threads you will see the date on which it was posted. But I enjoyed reading your response :-). Cheri |

Shabbat Shalom y'all, Jesusman, I think maybe the original poster of the question may have had Col. 2:14-15 on his mind. The WOF'ers (especially K. Copeland, K. Hagin and B. Hinn) teach this verse as Yeshua having gone into the depths of hell and wresting (spelling) the keys from satan and the making an open show of "them" and triumphing over "them" in it with the "them" being the beings in hell. Then according to this teaching, Yeshua preaches the gospel to those in the upper region known as Paradise, to Abraham, Isaac, etc. (Some teachings are the opposite, Yeshua preaches then goes into the depths to do battle.) Just thought you might like to know that this teaching is prevalent among the WOF'ers. (I know this cos I used to listen to them many many many years ago :-) ). I would be interested in your views on that verse. Cheri |

Shalom T'oma, I didn't recognize your name as Hebrew, what does it mean? And no, I didn't think you spelled Chanukkah wrong - I know some spell it and pronounce it with a chet and some with a hei - I actually don't know which way is correct. Glad you got a laugh - I'm from Atlanta Ga and you can really tell it when I'm trying to pronounce Hebrew words, it's a riot. And yes, to the best of one's ability, I am Torah-observant. Cheri |

Shabbat Shalom T'oma Actually, I was speaking more of Shabbat, Sukkot, etc., the feasts and observances found in Lev., not Chanukkah (that one was indeed man created). Those (found in the Torah) were instigated by the Lord and to be observed forever. Cheri |

459 | Did Stephen see the Father? | Acts 7:55 | skccab | 195336
Afternoon Lionheart, I can tell you He's no longer in a box that I've created! I've given up trying to understand with my little mind. And like Doc said, it's awe-inspiring, it's frightening - but it's also liberating. It frees me up from "trying to be" to letting Him do. Do you know what I mean? Cheri |

Shalom y'all This is not directed at you, specifically Doc, it's just yours is at the end of the thread. My wondering is why is everyone so concerned about observances that were not spoken of by God? All observe Christmas, Easter, and worry over Halloween, none of which were created nor ordained of God (they were created and ordained by man) and refuse to observe those were created and ordained by God (and His were "forever" ordinances). Why is this, I"m still struggling with it? Cheri |
