21 | Santa Clause or Jesus Christ? or both? | Deut 5:6 | jalanlambert | 128421
BradK, Thank you for your input. As young christians 20 some years ago my wife and I had to decide what to tell our son when he asked about Santa. We had both been taught that Santa was real and felt pulled both ways. The decision was made when Jeff(son)at a very young age looked up at me and asked if santa is real. When I looked in his eyes I realized that I had to tell him the truth. Through the years as we had 3 more children we were able to discuss the subject openly. We explained that they were not to teach other children this truth, it is their parents responsibility. As I reflect back on the christmas we shared together, I don't think my children missed a santa clause they never knew. Also, BradK I tried to find the link you gave me but was unable to access it. Would you give it to me again, please. Thank you. JAL
22 | Santa Clause or Jesus Christ? or both? | Deut 5:6 | jalanlambert | 128425
New Creature, Thank you for the article. You can't compare the power of God with the abilities of santa, can you? As adult christians we understand that you really can't compare the two. On the other hand, when children look at them side by side, kids see and want the immediate gratification that santa offers. All God does is provide the air we breath. Compare that to a new bike. What about the excitement that the adults have and show during the Christmas season? Unless the parents are well grounded in the Lord, the only thing the kids get out of God during the season is having to go to church. It seems the world has found what it wants out of christmas, and it's not a Savior. Thanks again, JAL

DocTrinsograce, I like the illustration you give. We must all remember that lying is a sin. Children should be able to count on their parents to be truthful. Thank You. JAL

25 | Looking for a scripture | Is 28:11 | jalanlambert | 117329
8788, I believe you can find comfort in knowing that you are not alone in your circumstance in life. Also, some of Gods servants in the Bible too had to overcome trials in their life. Paul is a good example of one who served the Lord but was given a thorn in the flesh (Corr. 12:7) "the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exaulted above measure." Now Paul asked the Lord 3 times that it might depart from him.(v.9) And he (Lord) said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee; for my strength is make perfect in weakness. Paul then finishes the verse by saying Most gladly, therefore, will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.(v.10) Therefore, I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake; for when I am weak, then am I strong. I find comfort in these words knowing that God already knows my circumstances and is able to deliver me from them at any time. However, sometimes for my good and His glory he will allow such infirmities to be the very thing in my life that challenges me to draw closer to Him, and be of service to Him knowing that God only wants what's good for me and that which will bring glory to Him. May God bless you as you seek His will in your life. "MY GRACE IS SUFFICIENT FOR THEE" might be that verse you seek. JAL |

30 | Does this mean they do not go to heaven? | Rom 8:9 | jalanlambert | 131988
GreggB, Read Romans 8:5-13. V8,9 "So then, they that are in the flesh cannot please God. V9 But ye are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his." When you get saved you automatically have the presence of the Holy Spirit in you. Those that work towards God in their flesh are of the flesh and are not saved. JAL |

31 | does God intervene on a daily basis | Rom 8:28 | jalanlambert | 120043
rocketr22, I believe God is behind everything we experience in life. Just because the fall of man allowed sin and pain and suffering to enter this world and our lives doesn't mean that God isn't fully aware of each circumstance(cancer etc.). If He were not aware how could He use the circumstance for our good and His glory? God knows every sparrow that falls and even the hair on our heads. How much more does He care and know about the problems in life that come our way? He looks on the heart and sees the need. He doesn't create the circumstance but He will certainly use it, and does. Because God is so involved and intimate in our lives, I believe He knows what we need in order for us to draw closer to Him. The scripture says He will not put more on us than we can handle and has made a way to escape. There are many examples in the Bible of men who endured pain and suffering (Job Paul). They both sought the Lord in their time of trouble and God responded. Jobs health and wealth were restored. Paul asked 3 times for the thorn to be removed from his flesh. When God didn't, Paul asked for strength to endure it. God knew what was ahead for each of these men and what it was they needed in order to grow. I don't think Paul fully knew why God allowed the thorn to remain in his flesh, but as he grew in the Lord, the reason for the thorn was not as important as what it accomplished in his life. Paul couldn't know what was best for him in the future, but God did. I believe the growing we see from our circumstances in life is not so much about the KNOWN (flesh) but more about the UNKNOWN (spirit). Those are the things that prepare us for greater service. We grow in faith because we better understand what God already knows. rocketr22 because God knows all things, is everywhere, and cares about all circumstances from a cold to cancer, I can have peace in my heart that a loving God is in control, and that all circumstances in my life are just another opportunity for me to draw closer to Him. I will be leaving my office for home after this post. I hope it speaks to your heart. Christian Love, JAL |

8788, I believe you can find comfort in knowing that you are not alone in your circumstance in life (stuttering). Also, some of Gods servants in the Bible too had to overcome trials in their life. 34 | Does God hear me when I pray? | Eph 1:6 | jalanlambert | 177842
Hi Mark, Thanks for your insight, and scripture. I agree with you that sin in our lives is when we need God most. I believe that the Holy Spirit is busy making us aware of such sin. It is a really great opportunity for us to grow in our faith and learn dependence on the Lord. Our pastor said that because of the unconfessed sin, that a believer has no access to God until this is corrected. I disagree, but wanted to hear from others. How could a christian not be able to communicate with God because of unconfessed sin, yet if that same person died in that condition they would have access to God through the finished work of Jesus Christ and would immediately be in the presence of God. That analogy seems to be contradictory. Please help with any thoughts you might have or any scripture reference you might know of. jal |

37 | Can salvation be lost? | Jude 1:5 | jalanlambert | 123974
Country Girl, Scripture says, (Romans 6:23) "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord". God is Holy and cannot look upon sin. We by our very nature are sinful, and according to you subject to lose our salvation at any time. Scripture says that if we say that we sin not we are a liar and the truth is not in us. I think you will agree with me that we all sin. James 4:17 says "Therefore, To him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin." Every time the Spirit of God speakes to you to do Gods will and you ignored it you would need to be saved again. James 2:10 says "For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all." Sin separates us from God, and if we think we can keep ourselves saved, we are wrong. My question to you is how many times have you been saved today? Because the thinking that you present requires a continual effort that is beyond human ability. Every sin would require you to repent, then get saved once more. So I ask, how many times have you been saved today? And now is your being saved a result of the finished work of Jesus Christ, or your own ability to keep saved? Country Girl you would be getting saved several times each day. Remember when you first accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior, and how that felt? Do you feel like that when you repent for not doing Gods will, or for that bad thought you had about someone? Why would you not declare before the Church and/or your friends that you were saved again and again in any given day? In love Jal |

38 | Can salvation be lost? | Jude 1:5 | jalanlambert | 123985
Country Girl, If someome that was never saved lived a perfect life (we know they can't) except for one sin. Would God condemn that person to a lost eternity? Of course He would. What makes your occasional sin (not practice of sin) acceptable to God? And if unacceptable then God must judge it for what it is. SIN. Sin separates us from God. Again, How many times have you been saved today? We are saved by grace, the grace of God alone. Our relationship to Him is affected by our sin not our position. We are called heirs of God, joint heirs with Jesus Christ.(Romans 8:17). In Love, Jal |

39 | Can salvation be lost? | Jude 1:5 | jalanlambert | 124042
mommapbs, I agree and appreciate your explanation of grace and Gods unconditional love through His Son Jesus Christ. I think it is sad to see people torn between loving God for His gift of salvation to us and their need to accomplish some work to prove their love, in order to continue to be saved. If it were up to me to keep myself saved, I wouldn't have a chance. My flesh will keep me from God. I will never be perfect in this body. However, my desire to be perfect (pure) is not because I want to stay saved. It is because I understand that I can't keep myself saved and that that was accomplished for me on calvery's cross. It comes from the love I now have for Jesus for saving me. When in heaven if asked why should I let you in, my reply will be because Jesus Christ paid for all my sins, and that alone. On the other hand some will want to give an account of the works that they did, as if that will wash away any of their sins. Works are just an expression of obedience to Him and our love for Him. It has nothing to do with staying saved. In Love, Jal |
