584 | Fasting? | Mark 2:20 | azurelaw | 200170
Dear blue.eyes, I have no idea where in the scripture teaches that fasting is to get the lord's attention for an urgent answer to our problem. Could you please direct me to that specific scripture? Thanks and Shalom Azure |

585 | Fasting? | Mark 2:20 | azurelaw | 200213
Dear Irene, Thank you so much for providing the scriptures. May I also suggest you search the below posts in the search box at your upper right hand corner of the screen for more understanding of fastings. 6261 6280 141257 Zech 8:19 is not talking about a joyful fasting (or I should say people do not fast with joy Mat 9:15) for fasting is usually attached to sorrow, repentance (as you have written), afflictions. Please read again the context of this scripture. As to the idea that "fasting is to get the lord's attention for an urgent answer to our problem", I hope this is done with the drive of the Holy Spirit in an earnest plea and submissive to the sovereignty of God rather than a means to appeal to the Lord to get Him do anything for us. (see how sorrowful and yet submissive when Jesus prayed in the garden of Gethsemane) God has been and is watching over us without a blink (Prov 15:3) in the eyes. From the day of my birth to this very moment of my earthly life, He watches and helps at His time be it urgent or not, be it with my awareness or not...some are even fatal to my life and He helps and saves before I could realize its danger or emergency. Needless to say could I mutter an SOS to Him. Just a bit of my sharing. May we grow together by His inerrant Word. Shalom Azure |

587 | Why related it to the feeding of 5000 | Mark 6:52 | azurelaw | 220380
Dear Brother Doc, Thank you very much. The additional insight is very helpful :-) I have also observed the contrast of Mark's portraying the incidents about the reaction of Jesus'(v34) and the disciples' attitude (v36) toward the crowd. It looks like though they had obtained the power of healing, doing miracles and preaching the gospel (v7-13), they have little (or no) compassion/love to the people. As you have rightly said that they would be feeding the sheep and forming the church. And I believe this was Jesus' fore-shadowing their future role in this discipleship incident. Yet, they failed to understand and they did not have the shepherd heart, too. Shalom Azure |

I believe Steve wants you to be careful about your comment of "split personality" in post 210812 which appears to be inappropriate since this is a public forum and we should be mindful with our words :-) Shalom Azure |

589 | "him" refers to which one? | Mark 9:42 | azurelaw | 219174
"Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe to stumble, it would be better for him if, with a heavy millstone hung around his neck, he had been cast into the sea...." "him" refers to "one of these little ones" or "whoever"? I've heard both explanations. But which should be correct according to the kione Greek grammar? Thanks for your help. Shalom Azure |

590 | "him" refers to which one? | Mark 9:42 | azurelaw | 219179
Thanks, John, for the response. What I've heard in the past rendering the same meaning as yours that "the person" who causes other (even the little one) stumble, it would be better for "the person" to be cast into the sea. However, recently, I've heard another explanation that "him" refers to the stumbled little one for it is a contrasting statement that the stumbling in faith is worse than casting him into the sea/killing him physically. Or, in another sense, if I caused you stumble, it is similar to that I killed you (castng you into the sea). Grammatically, how do you think the English version support the ideas? The context seems both explanation are possible. Thanks for your help. Shalom Azure |

I will come back to you as soon as possible. I think a word study for "good" and "perfect" is necessary. Thanks again for the input. Shalom Azure |

600 | Hello and thank you azurelaw | Mark 12:31 | azurelaw | 216870
Dear Jessica, You say : "he is very hsrd headed " "he also said that it says in the bible that all women are wicked and simple minded." What you've said in the above concern me much. I don't care (and you should not either) whether he professes himself a believer or not, take the advice of brother Tim Moran and Grafted in. Leave him immedately. You will not be regret. One day, he will abuse you with the claim that the Bible teaches him to do so. To prove you are not a wicked/simple minded woman, LEAVE HIM! Shalom Azure |
