342 | Ephs 4:30; 1:13-14 | 2 Tim 1:12 | Wild Olive Shoot | 165810
You stated: “David’s little romp with Bathsheba and the resulting murder of Uriah prove that a follower of God CAN lose salvation. And you can’t argue with the Bible. Revelation 22:15 says that murderers will have their place in the lake of fire.” I beg to differ. All this proves is that David was a sinner and that he was human. Throughout all of what we read concerning David, where is it mentioned that he had lost his salvation? You made the statement, now back it up, because until you do, it’s your word against God’s and I’ll believe His. John 3:15-16(NIV) 15that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life. 16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. Ephesians 2:8(NIV) 8For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God Titus 3:4-5(NIV) 4But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, 5he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, 2 Corinthians 1:21-22(NIV) 21Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, 22set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. “Nothing can render God's promises more certain: his giving them through Christ, assures us they are his promises; as the wonders God wrought in the life, resurrection, and ascension of his Son, confirm faith. The Holy Spirit makes Christians firm in the faith of the gospel: the quickening of the Spirit is an earnest of everlasting life; and the comforts of the Spirit are an earnest of everlasting joy.” – Matthew Henry. Philippians 1:6(NIV) 6being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. 1 Peter 1:3-5(NIV) 3Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade—kept in heaven for you, 5who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. Shielded by God’s power. If that doesn’t give you a sense of security… “No one will come, till Divine grace has subdued, and in part changed his heart; therefore no one who comes will ever be cast out.” – Matthew Henry 1 John 4:4 (NIV) 4You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. John 10:27-30(NIV) 27My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. 29My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand. 30I and the Father are one." “This is true of "my sheep." No power created is sufficient to pluck them out of His hand. Even the "free will" of the sheep cannot, and will not, bring him to the point of perishing.”… …“Not only is it revealed that God is disposed to keep the one whom He has saved, but the true child of God is also a gift of the Father to the Son (Jhn 10:29; 17:6, 9, 11) and has been committed to the keeping power of the Father by the prayer of the Son. "Holy Father keep." That prayer will be answered.”… …” Thus it may be concluded that should the saved one be lost, the eternal purpose of God will have been thwarted. Admitting this, it must be concluded that He Who can design a universe whose remotest star shall not deviate by a second from its appointments throughout the ages; Who can plan the universe from the highest arch-angel to the marvelous organism of the smallest insect; Whose purpose has never yet been known to fail—that such a God may be defeated by the mere creature His hands have made. If the saved one is finally lost, it must also be concluded that God is, to that degree, lacking in power. He Who has testified that not one of His sheep will ever perish, must yet retract His bold assertions and humbly submit to a power that is greater than His own. He Who created and holds the universe in His hands; Who calls things that are not as though they were; Who could speak the word and dismiss every atom of matter and life from existence forever must retire before the over-lordship of some creature of His hand.” - Lewis Sperry Chafer Read Romans 8:35-39 and then consider if we could lose our salvation, we would have to say that Jesus and Paul were liars, for they tell us that it is eternal, once we have it, it will never end. What more do you need? WOS |

Dear Bibleman3, Although some on this forum may claim that they can see into another’s heart and know the motives behind their questions, most will approach the question with honesty and in accordance with God's word to the best of their ability, taking the question at face value. With that, I believe brothers Hank and Kalos have already answered your question. I just wanted to reiterate that questions only appear to be illegitimate if answered illegitimately and in haste. Like Hank stated, it is an appropriate question there just isn’t a precise answer. Welcome to the Forum. WOS |

344 | What are the limits of salvation? | 2 Tim 3:15 | Wild Olive Shoot | 165545
If salvation is by the grace of God, then there aren’t any restrictions, no limits. "Jesus Christ takes many to his bosom, whose company we should have shunned, when they were in their evil state. Sovereign mercy can dash into sinful places, and take captives! Free grace can go into the gutter, and bring up a jewel! Divine love can rake a dunghill, and find a diamond! There is no spot where God's grace cannot and will not go!" - From Spurgeon's sermon, "A DIVINE CHALLENGE!" If God claims you as His, are you so pompous to think that you can overrule Him and blaspheme, and claim you are not? WOS |

Merry Christmas lionheart. I hope you had a blessed day. Here is but one more quote that I think is beautiful. “Jesus Christ takes many to his bosom, whose company we should have shunned, when they were in their evil state. Sovereign mercy can dash into sinful places, and take captives! Free grace can go into the gutter, and bring up a jewel! Divine love can rake a dunghill, and find a diamond! 346 | Law and Gospel | Eph 2:8 | Wild Olive Shoot | 164698
One more? "Salvation must be by grace. If man be lost by sin, how can he be saved except through the grace of God? If he has sinned, he is condemned; and how can he, of himself, reverse that condemnation? Suppose that he should keep the law all the rest of his life, he will then only have done what he was always bound to have done, and he will still be an unprofitable servant. What is to become of the past? How can old sins be blotted out? How can the old ruin be retrieved? According to Scripture, and according to common sense, salvation can only be through the free favour of God. Salvation in the present tense must be by the free favour of God. Persons may contend for salvation by works, but you will not hear anyone support his own argument by saying, "I am myself saved by what I have done." That would be a superfluity of naughtiness to which few men would go. Pride could hardly compass itself about with such extravagant boasting. No, if we are saved, it must be by the free favour of God. No one professes to be an example of the opposite view." - C. H. Spurgeon |

347 | Law and Gospel | Eph 2:8 | Wild Olive Shoot | 164696
“Love is his inclination to do us good considered simply as creatures; mercy respects us as apostate and as miserable creatures. Observe, God's eternal love or good-will towards his creatures is the fountain whence all his mercies vouch-safed to us proceed; and that love of God is great love, and that mercy of his is rich mercy, inexpressibly great and inexhaustibly rich. And then by grace you are saved (Eph_2:5), and by grace are you saved through faith - it is the gift of God, Eph_2:8. Note, Every converted sinner is a saved sinner. Such are delivered from sin and wrath; they are brought into a state of salvation, and have a right given them by grace to eternal happiness. The grace that saves them is the free undeserved goodness and favour of God; and he saves them, not by the works of the law, but through faith in Christ Jesus, by means of which they come to partake of the great blessings of the gospel; and both that faith and that salvation on which it has so great an influence are the gift of God.”… …”Grace in the soul is a new life in the soul. As death locks up the senses, seals up all the powers and faculties, so does a state of sin, as to any thing that is good. Grace unlocks and opens all, and enlarges the soul. Observe, A regenerate sinner becomes a living soul: he lives a life of sanctification, being born of God; and he lives in the sense of the law, being delivered from the guilt of sin by pardoning and justifying grace. He hath quickened us together with Christ. Our spiritual life results from our union with Christ; it is in him that we live: Because I live, you shall live also.” - Matthew Henry |

First, you need to re-read Matthew 12:1-14. Secondly, How can man make any day? (please don’t answer) Brother I believe I have been patient and kind in dealing with your rhetoric. You cannot and will not provoke me to anger on such a glorious day as this, and truly, every day with Christ is glorious. To me, and I’m being honest here, I’m viewing you as the experts of the law were viewed. You miss the whole Spirit of the Law and blindly want to follow the blind. Learn what love is my friend; learn whole-heartedly just what your Savior has done for you. Peace to you WOS |

I believe the Law is summed up in love. Love of God and love of thy neighbor. I believe, no, I know, that when that is truly recognized and adhered to, that there is nothing so inconsequential as to a particular day of worship for our Lord that should seem offensive or contrary to another brothers belief. In the love we share of one another, the petty differences should be set aside and our focus should be on Christ. You can’t be looking up while you are looking down. And when you keep your focus down here, on ritual days, or things that shouldn’t be, you risk missing the prize, the glory that shines above. If in your heart, you feel so strongly, or in your spiritual growth you feel weakened, by the fact that some consider one day this and another day that, you must bear in mind, that every day is the Lord’s. Man holds no sovereignty over the days any more than we grasp control of our own salvation. Don’t be offended brother when someone wants to hold another day in higher regard when they do so for the One that will save them and the One that will save you. So to end my discussion, let me add just this: You are not being forced to worship Christ on any day, you should want to, out of love, every day, regardless of what or whom has attempted to make of a particular day. But on the other hand, you should not be forcing your opinions regarding the days on those who choose to worship at any given time. They worship the Lord, the very One who created the days. And as long as that is the case, neither you nor I are wrong. WOS |

I specifically asked you four questions and you didn’t respond to one of them. Are you avoiding? I’ll re-post: How is worshipping Christ vile in your eyes my friend? How many more references can you make to worshipping Christ as a vile act? Is He your Lord and Savior? Is worshipping Him vile on any day, or just December 25th? Please explain. In all honesty, I’m trying to figure why you keep the position that it is vile to worship Christ. I would very much like for you to enlighten me, when, in your opinion may I worship my Lord? WOS |

I'm only suggesting that we can't and don't obey them on our own, thus our need for a Savior. You stated that you keep them all. My point is, there is much the Bible doesn't speak to. If you use the argument "I don't do something because the Bible doesn't speak of it", and actually live to that, then you're either a hermit living in a cave somewhere, or you are not really living to that standard. We have a conscience, a God given conscience, that we need to be able to use. We must be discerning if we claim to belong to God and yet live in fleshy world. I know good and well where Christmas originated my friend. However, I choose to worship Christ on this day, I do not chase after pagan gods. Now if you really mean to inform me that simply because the Roman Church used December 25th to mark a celebration of the incarnation of our Lord in an attempt to gain pagan peoples, and that seems to be true, and because of that I can’t worship Christ on that day, you are surely mistaken. Evil triumphs on any day in which we feel it is improper to honor our God. I worship Christ on Christmas day as I will any day and there is none that can take that from me. So you mean to tell me, that on December 25th, you pay no homage to Christ? I’m sure that is not to His satisfaction. It seems to me that it would be more of an insult to Him to feel there is a day in which we should not honor the Lord. By the way, one should be grateful this day and age to get a “merry” anything, its not often many are willing to extend a greeting of good cheer. WOS |

Then in your posts brother, change your "we" to "you" or "I". Don't inform "me" that I should not be worshipping my lord on a particular day because you don't. WOS And I didn’t say the birth was celebrated, I said it was observed, by heavenly angels nonetheless. |

Do you see what you did here? You claim that is how the Bible gets corrupted, by people putting in what isn’t there and then you do the very thing by insinuating that the wise men “may have come from Iraq”. We don’t know how many wise men and we know not from where they came. WOS |

Romans 14:1 Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters. Romans 14:4 Who are you to judge someone else's servant? To his own master he stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand. Romans 14:5 One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. 6He who regards one day as special, does so to the Lord. He who eats meat, eats to the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and he who abstains, does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God. 7For none of us lives to himself alone and none of us dies to himself alone. 8If we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. Romans 14:10 You, then, why do you judge your brother? Or why do you look down on your brother? For we will all stand before God's judgment seat. 11It is written: " 'As surely as I live,' says the Lord, 'every knee will bow before me; every tongue will confess to God.' "[a] 12So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God. Romans 14:13 Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in your brother's way. Romans 14:22 So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the man who does not condemn himself by what he approves. 23But the man who has doubts is condemned if he eats, because his eating is not from faith; and everything that does not come from faith is sin. Merry Christmas Brother. By the way, His birth was observed, or haven’t you read: Luke 2:8And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ[a] the Lord. 12This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger." 13Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, 14"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests." I take it then you do not celebrate your Birthday either, for the Bible does not tell you to? WOS |

So according to the article of reference, I’ll be in Hell for eating pork? Wow, that’s a scare tactic better than the use of the microscopic worms and disease it discusses. Scare tactics is what it seems to me and nothing more. And why it is, I just can't figure. By the way, are you aware that since 1950, there have been many advancements in the scientific fields. Are you also aware that the average cases per year of Trichinellosis is 12 and cases are less commonly associated with pork products and more often associated with eating raw or undercooked wild game meats. Just some info from http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dpd/parasites/trichinosis/factsht_trichinosis.htm E.G. White strikes again. Oh, and by the way my friend: 1 Timothy 4:1-5 (NASB) 1But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons, 2by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron, 3men who forbid marriage and advocate abstaining from foods which God has created to be gratefully shared in by those who believe and know the truth. 4For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with gratitude; 5for it is sanctified by means of the word of God and prayer.
