This is a true testimony. I'm leaving off the man's name. For some of these brothers and sisters it is important that the area where they live now, or where they originally come from, is not too closely identified to ensure either their own safety or that of their families. Islam is the main religion in fact, the state religion in my country. Our law is subject to the demands and teachings of Islam. But I am a traitor to Islam. I was born into a Muslim family and therefore knew nothing about Jesus Christ. I had many nominal Christian friends, and I asked one of them for a Bible. When I read it, I was surprised to find that God loves me and made a way to forgive my sins. I learned that because Jesus Christ died on the cross, I could be saved and would not have to die for my sins. In studying Islam I had not found the way to know God. In studying the Bible I found that only Jesus could satisfy my hunger for Him. I decided to believe in Jesus Christ and follow Him. When I did that, my life changed in a very good way. I had peace for the first time. I was baptized and became a member of a church. Then I began to speak about my newfound life in Jesus Christ in many churches and among my friends. One day in December 1981 I talked with some people in a taxi about Jesus Christ. They led me to believe they were open to hear about the Lord. When I left the taxi, they asked for the address of my church and said they would like to attend. I gave them the address, not knowing I had already been reported because of my Christian faith. That evening they came to the church, bringing the secret police with them. I was arrested without a warrant or any legal grounds. When I arrived at the jail, one of the guards asked why I was there. When I told him it was because I was a Christian, he called the barber to shave my head. They kept me 5 days in solitary confinement, and I was not allowed to call my family or friends to tell them where I was. The guards beat me and said I could go free if I would renounce my faith in Christ. When I refused, the officials transferred me to the prison for the most dangerous criminals in the country. I was never given a trial by a court of law. I was put in a small room in solitary confinement for the next 8 months. Although it is a law that all prisoners should have two blankets, when I asked for covers they said, No. You are a Christian. You will not get any covers. I slept on the rough cement floor, no bed, no blankets and continued through the winter without even the basic necessities other prisoners were given. Despite the extreme cold, I had an open window in my room and no heating. I received one meal a day made of lentils. The had of the prison told me not to speak with anyone, as he was afraid others would believe in Jesus Christ. When the guard saw me speak with anyone, he would slap me hard and push me. Once when I was speaking with another prisoner who asked for a Bible, the head of the prison beat me with a whip. Many soldiers came to my door and said, You are a very bad man. You are an infidel. The door to my room was closed all day except for a 5 minute break to go to the rest room. The rest of the time I stayed alone in my room. Other prisoners were allowed to leave their rooms freely from 9 in the morning to 4 in the afternoon. For a month and a half my family did not know where I was. When they asked for information, the police said they did not know. I made the acquaintance of a prisoner who was permitted to send letters out of the prison. He sent messages to my family and friends, telling them where I was. They came to the prison but were told I was not there. My brother, an officer in the army, asked the secret police to tell him where I was so he could visit me and try to get me to renounce my faith in Jesus Christ. After his visit they decided to let three members of my family come, but they forbade visits of any friends, thinking they would be Christians and would try to encourage me. I was not allowed to have any money, although all the necessities such as hot water in the winter and extra food were acquired with bribes given to the guards. My friends wanted to give me food, money, and clothes, but the authorities refused. For 2 months I had only the clothes I had been wearing when arrested. Finally, my family was able to give me clothes and some food, and another prisoner who had extra privileges quietly gave me two covers. But still I had no bed. The secret police warned my family not to help me very much. They wanted to make things hard for me so I would give up my faith in Jesus Christ. Members of my family were afraid they would be killed. Part 2... Occasionally the secret police would send a man to ask: Will you renounce your faith in Jesus Christ and be a good Muslim again? They would try to tempt me with the offer of money and a car, my freedom, and a job with the secret police. I said no. When the authorities realized I would not give up my faith in Jesus Christ, they decided, with no explanation, to let me out of prison on bail. The secret police told me not to go to any church and said if they saw me in church they would arrest me again and kill me. Muslim law requires that anyone who converts from Islam to another religion should be killed. If another Muslim were to kill me for any reason, the government would excuse him, and he would not be arrested or even punished. I am considered a traitor to Islam, deserving to be killed. MY CHOICE IS TO SERVE JESUS CHRIST. |

The OT saints were looking fwd to the One, True Jesus, they had faith He would come, how can you compare them to infidels who sincerely believe their false gods?

5. He descended into hell. Did this ever get resolved, did He or didn't He? I remember Copeland taught yes and wasn't this one of his false teaching? Brain, I believe all that except for the question on #5. The thing is, if Cath stuck to that, it would be OK but it's all the branching out that gets them into trouble. :) I believe a Cath can still be a Christian, but question why would a Cath who is a Christian would want to stay there? If you were a Mormon and became a true follower of Jesus, you'd have to get out, same w/Islam, Hindu, etc. Of course there are other Chriistian denom that are questionable today too, they started out right but have fallen intro apostacy. Any church, whether it's a whole demon. or just a rouge church that teaches apostasy-get out!!! |

Lisa, if this was taken out of a RCC catachism, they aren't gonna say RCC every time, they are referred to as church. Mama has the latest RCC catachism. She says that what it says. I come from a Cath background, I'm thru being duped by them.

Joe, you might as well give up, it is very hard for a Cath to admit the word "I was wrong!" I would think that if a Cath has saving faith in Jesus, they would recognize the apostasy of the RCC and get out as fast as they could and take as many with them as they could, but they linger on regardless, it's just so hard to leave. I hated it, I recognized they lied to me and had no trouble leaving, there was no way I could get rest of family elders to leave, they all died in her except for my mother wgo finally left but after she has been put down, lied to, practically spit upon but she still stayed. She finally left when I started going to this Bapt church I go to now, she'd go to mass, then go w/me to my church. It was then she saw the differences. We actually preach from the Bible, they just run their mouth. She said the final straw was when she was griping to preist about how all the seniors want to do for their field trips was so to FL to buy lottery tickets or go to Biloxi for casinos. The priest told her that life is a gamble, we gamble on whether we're getting to heaven or not. She said that's when it truly struck her, if they don't know where they're going, why is she staying here??? She left and now is a baptized born again Christian going to a Baptist church! There are many born again Christians in our church that used to be Cath, one just died recently and our Bible teacher was telling her testimony and is comparing what Cath believe, we are studying justification now. Here's a quick few about what Cath believe about justification: Justification is God's act of making man righteous by good works and obedience (we say faith). Justification is achieved bu faith and good works (we say faith alone). Justification can be increased by receiving more sacraments (we say perfect righteousness of Christ). Final justification is not determined until death (we say faith in Jesus). Emphasis on sacraments (we say Christ's verdict). |

Brain, what you don't seem to grasp is that I was born and raised Cath, I come from a family w/priests and archbishops, there was hardly a time the doors opened that we weren't there. I made As in religion classes at Cath school. I've been there, done that. I disagree totally with the RCC. After I figured out they were lying to me, I rebelled and became a total heathen for about a decade, even during Satanic worship phase, we were going to break into my cath church because everything you needed for Black Mass was there-what does that tell you? Later on when I was being witnessed to by Christians and shown literature defaming occult and Cath church, wonder why I immediately tied the two together? Been there, done that! After I accepted Jesus I tried my best to convince my Cath family to leave the RCC, that it was demonic and preached apostasy-get out!!! But they were entrenched, just like you are, wouldn't open their eyes to see the lies and deceit. They used that but we love Jesus line as they prayed to Mary and different saints. Well, duh, if you really loved Jesus, you would do what He says, not what He says not to do!!! By their fruits you shall know them. Have you considered God maybe led you here to hear the Truth and get you out of there? When you compare their teaching to the Bible, they are wrong!!! I'm not saying they are only ones wrong either, like that Bible teacher said today, there is a Pres. church that he went to that teaches salvation thru Baptism, he's a Gideon and was there to do a funeral, he was allowed 5 min to speak, he said preacher mentioned 5 times about salvation thru baptism. But he said there another Pres. church that doesn't believe that way so you can't say all do. Then there was a 34 yr old Meth woman who was drunk and got killed by ramming headon into another car in opposite lane, at her funeral the preacher was saying there is still hope for her because she was baptized. There are other Meth churches that doesn't teach that too. Baptism doesn't equal salvation. It is what you do as a sign to show that you are a follower of Jesus, it does not save you, it is symbolic. That is why a baby can't be baptized, you have to be old enough to know what you're doing by accepting Jesus as your Savior. Another woman was saying some lady paid her 19 yr old 100 dollars to get baptized because she was living w/some guy, done had an abortion, and she was worried her daughter would go to hell w/o baptism. I'm sure that really took-not! But, see, I wasn't raised Meth or Pres, I was raised Cath so I know what I was taught, I can only speculate of these other denom but I know Cath and I know they are wrong. There are many good people in the Cath church who are just deceived by the heirachy, they sincerely believe what they are taught and they are taught wrong!!! That is how Satan drags millions of good people to hell, just feeds them a tad of truth in w/apostasy so they never accept Jesus as they should because they just don't know any better. I heard last year between 12/12-1/3 the pope was selling indulgences, that was supposed to have been done away with by Vat II but it wasn't, it's just a cover up, duping all those millions of Cath. I saw pics of pope leading procession around w/Mary on a litter, proclaiming Mary. It's same old same old. And you're gonna stay there and defend it? Open your eyes!!! If you really love Jesus and accepted Him as Savior, obey His Words and get out of there and take as many with you as you can when you leave! Think, Brian, they even changed the commandments so they can worship their graven images. I still can't get the numbers of the commandments right because I've been taught the Cath way! What does that tell you right there? #4 is not Honor your father and mother, that is really #5-look it up!!! Please, Brian, think about it, let Holy Spirit convict you and get out!!! They are leading their people straight to hell! |

No, Brian, I'm talking about a priest standing before us in religion class in HS saying the Bible was written to counteract mythology type stuff. You wrote like I never grew up, just remained a child understanding on childish levels, let me assure you, that is not so! I brought some noncath friends to an Easter svc one time and they did actually change the Easter story and believe me, I knew my gospels, then then had this faggy guy I knew from drama club reading that section, that was the final straw then. I was around thru Vat II, I liked the Latin mass, I sang in the choir, it lost something to me changing it to English, sure couldn't sing the responses right either. Then how about that rollcall of saints they called out during that one svc durting that time, saints you never even heard of and we're singing for them to pray for us. I've been to numerous crowning of Mary svcs, novenas, etc. I've said the rosary more times than I could count, kneeling as a family in front of our own little idol. No thanks, you can stay there if you want but you're wasting your breath if you think you can convince me about how right the RCC is, I know. Explain to me how the Pope when speaking from the Chair of Peter is infallible, he may have been thinking one thing, but when he speaks from Chair, he speaks the truth. When people are cannonized, the pope is speaking from chair. Then all of a sudden, they decided St. Christopher didn't exist. So, was the pope that declared him a saint infallible or was the one who said it was a myth infallible? They both can't be right. Besides, Jesus isn't a baby anymore so St. C couldn't have carried him on his shoulders anyway-more lies! Then how many Mary's they gonna have? They got Mary's in every color, sometimes several of each, I guess each nationality has to have their own. Brain, can't you see you're being duped? You sound like a Jesuit-are you? Then I did read the Chick stuff and unfortunately, he was dead on. He even had a tract about Cath that he said they were trying to remove and sure enough I went to buy more and they were removed, I asked about them and they had a few under the counter, it happened just like he said. Seems to me a real Christian would be defending the Bible before any denomination. The Word is what Jesus says, not what any particular denom says and when you're denom is the end all, maybe you made that denom into an idol in itself? Isn't that what JWs do? Islam? Think about it. I wouldn't die defending the Baptists but I would die defending Jesus, isn't that the way it should be? |

Brian, how can you read Martha's story and come up w/your conclusion? I say thank God for that old man who spoke the Truth to her! Better for her to have been floundering around trying to find the Truth than being indoctrinated into wrong teaching that will send you to hell! At least now she knows the Truth and doesn't have to purge years of brainwashing from her mind. My obvious conclusion also was that she did not go to Cath school, otherwise, she would not have went to SS and she would have made her first communion in 2nd grade. I think this was God guiding her life to keep her away from the wrong teachings. Seems we come up w/two different conclusions about her story. :) |

The testimony about your wife is how all Cath feel once they break away and learn the real Truth. It's amazing to me how hard it is for them to break. Talking to them is like talking to a wall, you just can't get thru! The Church is more important than Jesus, so are Mary, saints and pope too. Even when you leave, they beg you to come back, do everything they can to convince you, been there, had that happen. I have to give it to Cath in one way tho, at least they're loyal, may be misplaced loyalty but it's hard to change them. I had a BIL that was kicked out of church, him and my sister eloped so their marriage or children weren't recognized, they never had anything to do w/Church, drank and smoked heavily. Later when I'd be telling them about Jesus, he'd say we're Cath. Then I was witnessing to him heavy before he died, so were the Cath-guess which one he chose. :( I have a crackhead brother who refuses to go to church w/us but goes to Cath church occas, I think just to make Mama mad, he sponges off of her. We know only Jesus can change him but he refuses to listen, still clings to salvation thru Church instead of Jesus-what can you do except pray for him. |

174 | Renewal AGAIN to repentance? | NT general Archive 1 | Norrie | 25021
I heard a sermon preached one time about David. Maybe someone else can elaborate, but it was that after David's little excursion w/Bathsheba, when Nathan the prophet came to call David to repentance, that if David didn't repent, that God was going to have him removed. He would have still been saved, but taken out to prevent further straying or causing other to.

"where do you consider to be the line between sinful acts as a believer in Christ and being apostate from the faith?" I've wondered that myself. I met somebody on another forum before who claims to have BEEN a Christian, baptized in Holy Spirit, etc, even played backup for different Christian groups but is now a bisexual pagan priest. That would definately be apostate from the faith there if he wasn't not really saved. What about a preacher who was maybe a renowned preacher who decides to live like the world, enter into sin? Is he rejecting Jesus or just being a weak person? Did you read my post about David? Any comments? |

If you die w/mortal sin on your soul, you go to hell. If you die w/veniel sin, you go to purgatory. Then you can say indulgences which goes towards time off on sentence in purgatory too. Of course I heard at one time you could even pay someone's way out of purgatory, I guess money can buy anything. :) Most Cath in US are RCC, usually the others are in other parts of world but I guess they can immigrate too. |

I think I didn't read Debbie's response before I answered Lisa. :) She said it was hidden and that nobody quite understood it so I guess you are all right there. But it still seems Mary would have figured something was going to happen just from the miraculous circumstances of His birth tho, who knows. Guess we'll have to ask her when we get there. :)

No, Dear, this is what I was taught in religion class-fact! Our priest also usually made us say 3 Hail Marys for pentence after confession too. I was called a liar before for saying that too because this other person's priest did Our Fathers. I'm stating facts that I grew up with, if you don't like it, I'd tell you go talk to the priests and nuns who taught me but even if you could find them, they're prob all dead anyway. So, don't call me a liar, I'm just parroting them, call them a liar if you want to call anyone one, OK.

We were discussing first century church today in Bible study. Their main focus was on worship and decipleship. Nonbelievers didn't go there, they'd get them saved in marketplaces, then they could come. They usually preformed the Lord's Supper in remembrance of him too. There were only 2 things Jesus taught us to do, pray and how to do Lord's Supper. There are only 2 ordinances he has us do too, Baptism and Lord's Supper. I heard it mentioned today that baptism is the new covenant equivilant of circumcision in the old covenant, it's our sign. The Lord's Supper is done in remembrance of Jesus' death. There was an Xcath lady who asked if there were any rules considering Lord's Supper about fasting, Cath have to fast first. I think they dropped the time limit to a few hours but still there was a fast involved. He explained there are no rules set forth in Bible. Anyway, since Lisa accussed me of making up the junk about if you die w/mortal sin you go to hell and veniel sin gets you purgatory, I asked if that was what the Cath taught and there were many Xcath there who said yes it was what they taught so... |
