643 | Violent correction? | Neh 13:25 | CDBJ | 119356
Hi Rowdy, I think it was when my kids were teenagers that they forced me to practice the hair pulling routine. It is, in my opinion, an act of frustration more then anything. I must say, we have all heard of the expression of pulling ones hair out but I don’t see what that has to do with the biblical connotation of repentance. Originally the word for repentance, in the Koine Greek was METANOIA, which is a compound word META, meaning to change and NOIA form from the root word NOUS or mind, i.e. changing ones mind. Self-flagellation and sorrow ironically doesn’t even fit into the picture. The verse that comes to mind is the following. Luke 13:3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. This ties in perfectly with, John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Jesus is telling everyone that they need to change their mind about what they are doing to acquire eternal life; that consist of not relying on ones self but relying on the work of Christ. They must put all of their faith in Christ and rely on what he did for them on the cross; it’s like a 180-degree turn, as it were. Aside from this, all those that don’t change their way of thinking about the person and work of Jesus, are going to perish. I hope your hair comes back; I have some stuff that could grow hair on an egg, it’s called mold, CDBJ |

644 | Violent correction? | Neh 13:25 | CDBJ | 119410
Hi Rowdy, I liked your post and I agree, but if I may, I would like to add to it. The diversified objects that a person can repent from can go from a life of religion to one of crime but the main object in repentance is not what one turns from but what they turn to. The object of repentance, with regards to salvation, must always be the person of the Lord Jesus Christ. I have heard many testimonies where people have changed their ways and joined this or that church and became a better person but they never speak of how Jesus has changed their life; He is the one thing that’s missing in their testimony! And really the only thing that counts. Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. The way I see it, it isn’t what I have done that means anything It’s what Jesus has done for me and I believe it. CDBJ P.S. The Bible says that the Lord know how many hairs we have on our head. Luke 12:7 But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows. Some of us sure make it easy for Him. |

646 | If I commit suicide, can I go to heaven? | Job | CDBJ | 192551
Greetings Larry, You are distorting Scripture with that kind of thought pattern. Those thought patterns are not reflected in God’s word as such and the adversary the Devil loves to twist doctrine in order to move misinformed souls into such an irreversible state. 2 Cor. 13:5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? God brings true love into ones life when they are born of His Spirit. Look at what the Bible has to say about perfect love. 1 Cor. 13:5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; For one to take their own life would be way outsider of the will of God and not His plan for that person’s life yet it sure would fit into the adversary’s plan. God is able to remove any one at any time from this life but as long as they are still alive in this life God has a plan for them in His program. There is “no problem” that is too big for the plan of God. “True believers” are commanded the following. Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. Anyone that takes their own life is superseding their will over God’s divine will and will end up the loser! 2 Tim. 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. CDBJ |

647 | If I commit suicide, can I go to heaven? | Job | CDBJ | 192577
Hi Larry, No explanation needed pal. I have been in the same boat and I would like to say that the Lord has richly blesses us with the greatest doctors in history. There is medication available for us when deep cycles of depression hit and if it works for me it can work for you; you’re not alone with these problems. James 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. 2 Cor. 1:3-4 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; 4Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. 648 | Why does God respect Satan's opinion | Job 1:8 | CDBJ | 233072
Greetings, If we are ignorant of God’s Word and suffer as a result, (“Man... how I suffer because of ignorance, and God bothers in making evil spirits aware of the mysteries of life, while we have to be groping in the dark like Job....”) It’s because we have neglected to be obedient to God’s command to us. 2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV) 15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. The word “study” in the previous verse is the Koine Greek word “SPUDAZO” and it is in the imperative mood and the active voice which means you are to produce the action and the imperative mood means it is commanded by the Lord. By not doing this it will put one out of fellowship and your growth will be stunted. In order to grow “in Christ” we are constantly put to the test to see if we will apply Bible doctrine to our experiences or fail by trying to sustain ourselves through the energy of the flesh which is nothing more then responding to the dictates of our old sin nature. This grieves the Holy Spirit who is our personal teacher and retards the super natural way of life that’s provided for us by the Father. Christ always used Bible doctrine to combat the cosmos attacks of spiritual wickedness. Do your self a big favor and get more involved with the intake of Bible doctrine on a daily basis! Have a great day, CDBJ |

649 | what was taken from the angel? | Job 20:4 | CDBJ | 22151
Rev. says it is a book. Rev. 10:9-10 And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey. 10And I took the little book out of the angel's hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter. |

650 | Can satan read our mind. | Job 34:21 | CDBJ | 40234
I am afraid that I would just be flattering myself to think that Satan would have anything to do with such a low figure as I am in the realm of Christianity. I have enough trouble with my own stupid old sin nature. James 1:14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. I think that Satan only goes after the big fish not a little guppy like me, I am my own worst enemy! Romans 7:15-25 For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. 16If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. 17Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. 18For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. 19For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. 20Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. 21I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. 22For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: 23But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. 24O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? 25I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin. |

651 | this is a qustion ask for a bible study | Psalm | CDBJ | 213708
Hi Dale and welcome to the forum. We are to fear no evil. Psalm 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. This verse is only possible after one has had a living personal relationship with God’s Messiah. The one we call in this age Jesus the Christ the Son of God, for when one places their faith in the finished work of Jesus, i.e. dying for their sins, he promises to indwell them. And here is why we need not fear. 1 John 5:10-13 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. 11And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. 13These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. 655 | There is no impossible with GOD? | Ps 34:8 | CDBJ | 17081
It is not only, not fair but it is not correct. God didn't die on the cross, the humanity of Jesus died. That's why God had to become a man, because God can't die. God was in Christ reconciling the World to Him self. God's Messiah died, not God! Look up the doctrine of the Hypostatic Union. The word translated death, in the English was the Greek word, THANATOS, It actually meant separation. I.e. physical death is when your soul leaves your body. Spiritual death, as mentioned in Rom. 6:23 (A) For the wages of sin is death. This is in ref. to being separated from God. Therefore the wages of sin is separation from God. Jesus Christ paid this price while on the cross at the ninth hour when our sins were poured out on Him. He screamed out in Matt. 27:46 (My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?) While Jesus was hanging on the cross, He actually died twice. The first time was for out sins. John 19:30 spells is out very clearly. The word that Christ used for, it is finished was the Greek word, TELEO. The etymology of the word teleo, shows that this was a term used in the ancient slave markets to signify that the desired price for a slave was paid and the transaction was over, they would always say TELEO. Christ has actually purchased us from the slave market of sin by paying the price demanded by God, which was separation from Him. That's why the issue now isn't sin, but Jesus Christ and believing in Him for salvation. After Christ work was finished He died physically. It is to be noted in John 19:30 that Jesus said it is finished before he gave up his spirit. The results are, Christ was born once and died twice; believers are born twice and die once. (Praise the Lord) CDBJ |

656 | There is no impossible with GOD? | Ps 34:8 | CDBJ | 17134
Fatherchuck, I read all of your comments on your personal profile and I must say that I have learned a few things from some of your threads. It is nice when we can edify one another in the Body. The Lord uses all the members to that extent. If we could just obey the command to ( study to show thyself approved unto God a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.) By adding this to an attitude like they had in Berea; where they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, to see if the things that were spoken, were inline with other scripture, we would all be a lot wiser. Yours in Christ, CDBJ
657 | Bible reading for a new Christian | Ps 37:31 | CDBJ | 144678
Greetings Miyol, I have been a believer since 1965 and I still love the Lord and His fantastic Word, The Bible! I think the best advice that I could give a new believer would be to keep short accounts with the Lord by using 1 John 1:9 when ever you mess up. 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Couple that with a prayer every time that you open the Bible, that God will give you wisdom and understanding with regards to Scripture. Follow the command given in the book of 2nd Peter and study, study, study. 2 Peter 3:15-18 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; 16As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. 17Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. 18But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen. Have a great day, CDBJ |

658 | Salvation: Instantaneous, progressive? | Ps 68:19 | CDBJ | 28544
I can't accept the so-called second blessing concept, or a two-tiered aspect, whichever one would like to call it. I am just suggesting that there maybe a time span that actually takes place once an unbeliever starts to ingest or assimilates God's Word and the point of actually being born again. All this must take place through the work of the Holy Spirit because the human spirit isn't alive until regeneration or the second birth. We know that the Word says Ephes. 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: I think a lot of people have faith because we tell them to have it not because God the Father reveals who Jesus is to them, but if they spend enough time in God's word they eventually find out. I think that the book of John is a good example. John 20:30-31 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: 31But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. Considering how many things Jesus did; it must take quite a few signs to convince some people and that is even with the Holy Spirit doing the work. Paul himself must have been under great convection or in a gestation period before his conversion according to Acts 26:14 And when we were all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice saying unto me in the Hebrew language, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? it is hard for thee to kick against the goad. Kicking against the goad was because he had heard the Word and was fighting against the working of The Spirit, but alas he came to faith in Jesus the Christ. Charis I hope you have a blessed New Year, CDBJ |

660 | Thomas Watson on Hypocrisy | Ps 119:80 | CDBJ | 140523
Greetings Doc, The word hypocrites, as I have been lead to understand it, came to us from a theatrical word, spoken by the Athenian Greeks and later carried over to the Koine Greek. The word originated as a result of the actors speaking on stage at such a distance that the mood of the actor couldn’t be distinguished from a long distance; so, in order to express the mood the actor would wear a wax mask to convey the mood of the moment; one of smiling, happy, or frowning, the sad face; and thus the word, hupokrites, or speaking from behind the wax mask. The two expressions of mood are still used today as the symbol of the theater. This was also something that I picked up from Pastor Bob Thieme. Have a great day, CDBJ |
