I don’t recall having read in the Bible of any prayer that was directed to Michael. What would your biblical interpretation of the word saint be? |

Why would Christ mislead those that ask him to teach them how to pray? Christ said that prayer should be directed toward the Father. Matthew 6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. He didn’t say Michael or Dear departed saints or anything else for that matter, only Father. Do you assume that he was wrong in not mentioning those others, that might be worthy of our prayers? |

Hi Hank, while reading your post, and realizing that there are many different ideas on how we should be living the life, the verses came to me in Eph. Ephes. 4:4-5 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; [5] One Lord, one faith, one baptism, Just about all true born again believers agree on these points. It is interesting to note that Paul didn’t go on with a bunch of other stuff that we can’t seem to agree on. I think that the reason he said that there is only one of those things mentioned in the list is because everything mentioned in the list is done for us; we don’t mess any of them up with things we do. There are other things that come into view and Paul gives the recommendation to Timothy on how to deal with them. 2 Tim. 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. A lot of times I personally have trouble with the longsuffering as many of you can attest. It is when we get outside of these guidelines and get into denominational differences that the feathers start flying, as it were. The new guidelines that Dan has put in place actually reverts back to 2 Tim. 4:2 I think that some of the problems come into play when individuals attempt to do what is mentioned in 2 Tim. 4:2. But in order to prove their point, using Scripture, they either pull it out of context or they allegorize or spiritualize verses so much that there view contradicts other Scripture. Psalm 119:160 The sum of Thy word is truth, And every one of Thy righteous ordinances is everlasting. I think it is a great that we can interact on the forum but oh how I wish people would stick to what the Bible actually says. I want to learn what God has to say about different subjects not man's views or denominational views. CDBJ |

I think that when someone is pursuing a point in question that they should follow it up with Bible verses that don’t conflict with other verses on the same topic. If this is insisted on by all on the forum it would eliminate a lot of problems. That brings me to something that I read the other day from a little booklet that I get called Sola Scriptura the article was by Dr. Dan Hayden. The verse mentioned was 2 Tim. 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: He stated, and as most know, the word (INSPIRATION) comes to us from the Greek word (theopneustos). For those that don’t know, the word in the Greek it is a compound word from THEOS, God, and PNEO, where be get the word pneumatic or air. The air from God or breath of God i.e. God breathed. The interesting part, as was pointed out, was that the manifestation of the breath of God is the written Word or the Bible. He used the illustration of us breathing on a cold pane of glass so that our breath is visible, being collected on or condensed on the cold surface as moisture. God’s breath is condensed on the pages of the Bible causing the Word of God to become visible. Well I thought I would pass that on to the Clan for what every you might get out of it. CDBJ |

Greetings EdB from Northern Ohio, I know that you live in Florida but didn’t realize that you were from Ohio. I live just north of an Amish community called Hartville and my house was built by Amish folks; and as you mentioned, the whole family works on the project. I think that I would trade you an Amish hickory smoked ham for some of that nice Florida warmth. I don’t think that we will ever really be satisfied with where we live until we are at home with the Lord. It seem like all locations have their drawbacks. Speaking of the ham situation I am going to tell one on my eight-year-old grandson. My daughter was fixing a ham for Christmas and her son ask her what they were having; she said a honey-cured ham and my grandson said, “ What kind of disease did it have?” I thought that was a classic, CDBJ |

It sounds to me like the ham just answered my last post that I sent; Just kidding. Yes, I live in Suffield about 400 yards south of Mogadore reservoir but we have a Mogadore mailing address because Suffield is to small for a post office. Hartville has one of the lowest crime rates in Ohio, probably due to the Amish population. A lot of people are believers in Hartville and follow biblical principals and as a result, the crime rate is low. It is a dry town if you know what that it? Therefore the lifestyle that accompanies the alcohol is missing also. Did you notice on the news that they were talking about a human being cloned? It sure is the devils world and it looks like he is taking great strides; what’s next? Luke 21:28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh. CDBJ |

Since you were a pastor in St. Marys does that mean you were a Catholic priest? Oh, I just noticed the Ohio at the end, just kidding! My son lived about 10 miles from there before he moved to the Woster Ohio area. Every time I got to visit him I have to watch out for the black horse drawn buggies. There is an area not to far from where he lives now called Kiddren Ohio: Just being there takes one back in time over 100 years. One day, when my son was about nine, we drove down to Kiddren and there was an auction going on for farm animals. An Amish man had a pig jump out of his wagon and run off squealing in frantic desperation as we watched the black clad figure with a big black hat chase the pig up and over a hill for about a half a mile. My boy still laughs about that when I mention it, I don’t know if the poor fellow ever did catch the elusive fleeting pork chop? |

People are saying, “What’s the world coming to?” We pretty much have the answer to that one and I always tell them that I have read the end of the book and the believers win! It always tickles me when Hollywood comes up with something like the movie Armageddon and the earth wins. People don’t even have a clue about such things and whom the people of Earth will be fighting against. Like they will really have a chance fighting against the very God of the universe! Now there is a good title for a sermon that might open a few eyes. Contrary to Hollywood the people of earth are going to lose the battle at Armageddon and I can prove it! It sure is nice to know who holds the future and we are on His side. CDBJ

There is a possibility that he, the antichrist, is amongst us. From the way I understand it, the first obvious sign will be when he aligns three country together and becomes their leader. Daniel 7:8 I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things. Daniel 8:9 And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land. Rev. 12:3 And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. Then he pulls another seven nations into his web as a ten-nation federation of Eurasian countries into line and he will head it up. The most obvious sign will be when he makes a seven-year pact of protection with the nation of Israel. When this happens it will be evident to those who know Scripture but it will be a covenant of death for the Jews who will be oblivious to his lies along with the rest of the unbelieving world. He will be one of the most convincing individuals that has ever walked on the earth and millions will actually fall for his lies.. Matthew 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) 2 Thes. 2:3-12 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; [4] Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. [5] Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? [6] And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. [7] For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. [8] And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: [9] Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, [10] And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. [11] And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: [12] That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. |

Hello Aften1, I am new to this thread but have read most of the post. You sound very sincere in your comments and that is what has brought me to this question. It is obvious that you are of some religion, and assuming that, I would like to ask if you have come to the point yet, in your spiritual experience, where you know for sure in your own mind, that you have eternal life? Maybe I could word this a little different: If you were to die in the next few seconds, and stand before God, and he were to say to you, why should I let you come into my heaven, what would you say to him? I know that’s an awesome thought but what do you think you would say, I’m curious? There are a lot of different people on this forum and I have heard their viewpoints, I would like to hear your summation of that question; that is unless you would rather keep it to your self, but then again it is a Bible forum? I would be happy to share my views with you on this matter sometime if you like! Have a nice day, CDBJ |

Thank you aften1 that is a very interesting and candid concept that I don’t think I have fully considered. You certainly mentioned a lot of thing that Jesus is going to do but as for who he was all you told me was that he was a teacher, which I must say I agree with you on that point. Could you further elaborate to me, your personal understanding of just who Jesus was? CDBJ |

Well aften1 you are getting me a little confused to say the least. In your first post to me you made this statement. “First Jesus was a teacher.” In my second and returning post I agreed with you. “You certainly mentioned a lot of thing that Jesus is going to do but as for who he was all you told me was that he was a teacher, which I must say I agree with you on that point.” Now you are saying that it was my idea to call him a teacher when all I did was agree with you. You mentioned in your last post the following. “Well to me he is a Ruler - notice the huge number of Angels round about the Throne. To you he is a teacher.” Well I will give you the benefit of the doubt so lets consider the last part of your most recent post to me and lets be honest with each other from here on. You used these Bible verses for a description of who Jesus is and I like it when people use the Bible to prove their point. We can’t dispute what the Bible says now can we, if we don’t take it out of context? Revelation 5 11 And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands; 12 Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing. Verse 12 is saying Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, Why, and you say this is referring to Jesus, in your estimation is he being called the Lamb? Do you know when Jesus was first called the Lamb? CDBJ |

How have you managed to deal with your sin problem? Your iniquities and your sin have set up a barrier, how did you overcome this obstacle? Isaiah 59:2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear. Do you consider yourself to be perfect in God’s eyes? Job 9:20 If I justify myself, mine own mouth shall condemn me: if I say, I am perfect, it shall also prove me perverse. Why is it that you only take portions out of the Bible to believe and you don’t believe the rest? Jesus had this same problem with the people that thought they knew the Scripture in his day. It looks like you might be suffering from the same dilemma. John 5:39-40 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. [40] And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life. Why won’t you trust in the work that Jesus did for you on the cross? Who do you think it is that is going to judge you if you aren’t trusting in God’s Son Jesus? John 5:22-24 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: [23] That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him. [24] Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. |

Hello Hank, surely you do guest? It never ceases to amaze me how some people can jump to the conclusions that they come to. It seem as though lately the forum is swarming with them. If it isn’t baptismal regeneration it is strict adherence to the Mosaic Law. It is as though the Scripture that expounds on the truth of their fallacy isn’t even there or that portion is written in a foreign language in their Bible. I think instead of the PC being the mark of the beast that it would better answers the description in the following verse, since we have to make it something. Rev. 13:15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. Here is a classic, the word (image) comes to us from the Koine Greek word IEKON which is the same word we use, icon in the English. Now that ought to start some devious thoughts going. CDBJ |

359 | Are christians included in the 144,000 ? | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 74770
Hello Searcher, in my previous post I stated my position on the 144,000 that were sealed. “The way I see it none of the 144,000 are Christians these are all Jews and they aren’t saved at the point in time when they are sealed. These are God’s people the true olive branch ready to be grafted back in." The reason they were sealed is to escape the wrath of God that will come as soon as the sealing is over, i.e. they are under God’s divine protection. Rev. 7:3 Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads. I don’t see the wrath of God starting until Rev. 8:1 And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour. The first sign of God’s wrath and destruction, as he has promised, won’t be water, as it was in Noah’s day, but fire. 2 Peter 3:7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. The first expression God’s wrath starts in Rev. 8:7 The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up. Getting back directly to your question, the answer is no, because if they would have been Christians they would have been removed at the rapture with all believers. The proof is found in 1 Thes. 5:9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, The us, in hath not appointed us, includes all believers, barring none. I could go on and on about this if you would like but that pretty much answers your question from my viewpoint. Have a nice day, CDBJ |
