101 | Are we to give ALL to anyone wanting it? | Bible general Archive 3 | CDBJ | 175774
Greetings Starfire, I think maybe you’re trying to read something into my post that wasn’t intended and I’m sorry if I came off that way. Pamper me a little, I’m getting old and sometimes my brain gets a little fuzzy when making an approach with the flaps up. I don’t mean to sound offensive and it certainly sounds like a noble position to be in, being a Christian all of ones life, but how is this even possible, biblically speaking since God doesn’t have any grandchildren? When trying to point one in the right direction, scripturally speaking, one must first know where they are. I don’t know where you are in your walk with the Lord and I hate giving milk to an adult when what they really need is a good rare stake to chew on. But on the other hand giving a sirloin to a kid with no teeth isn’t such a great idea either. Even a compass is useless for direction unless one knows where he is, geographically speaking, and I guess that’s all I’m trying to determine in order to answer your question and point you in the right direction. Being a Christian all of ones life is impossible and all I was trying to find out was when you became a disciple of Christ? Acts 11:26 And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch. Have fun, CDBJ |

Hi Kathy, I would like to say that I welcome you to the forum and ask if you would please excuse my rudeness for not welcoming you to the forum on my first post. When it comes to eschatology sometimes I get a little carried away and forget my manners. 2 Tim. 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 1 Thes. 5:21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. 2 Peter 3:18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen. I hope you enjoy the forum as much as I have! If you get a chance, could you share a little something about yourself with the forum? 103 | Pre-Trib Rapture Assistance | Bible general Archive 3 | CDBJ | 175882
Hi Mark, In case I neglected to mention it, God's plan of salvation has always been the same since Adam and Eve walked the earth and it will continue until the end of what ever period one would like to name: Believe in God's Messiah. The first century church ran concurrent with the temple while it was still standing but they message of the Messiah took on a name which wasn’t know until the time of Christ Jesus. If you will look back at my post you will notice that I didn’t say anything about animal sacrifices being a plan of salvation as it never has been. All the function in the temple was pointing to the coming Messiah it never was intended to be in place of. John 1:29 The next day he saw Jesus coming to him, and said, "Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! As for your statement, “ Should we teach people to think they are safe until they see the antichrist?” Safe from what? I’m safe in Christ and by His grace I can go through what ever it is He has planned for me. 2 Thes. 1:4-5 therefore, we ourselves speak proudly of you among the churches of God for your perseverance and faith in the midst of all your persecutions and afflictions which you endure. [5] This is a plain indication of God's righteous judgment so that you may be considered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which indeed you are suffering. You think Christ is coming before the tribulation, I think not. Matthew 24:44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. I believe the best course of action would be to teach the following. Psalm 119:160 (NASB) The sum of Thy word is truth, And every one of Thy righteous ordinances is everlasting. 2 Tim. 4:2 preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction. 104 | where did God come from? | Bible general Archive 3 | CDBJ | 176062
Greetings, God didn’t t set sin into motion, man did, God has a plan in the person of His Son that can correct the problem but people don’t want to believe in it, tying God’s hands. God didn’t take his parents, the function of sin, that is in the world did. When God returns to earth he is going to deal with the problem of sin from the very smallest right up to the worst. All of those that have any sin in their life will be wiped out so that’s why God is holding back on his return. Only those people that are safe in Christ Jesus will survive; They will be removed from the earth physically before God’s wrath is poured out. Here is what the Bible says about god taking so long to come and correct the problem of sin that is ruling our world. 2 Peter 3:1-18 This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance: [2] That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour: [3] Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, [4] And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. [5] For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: [6] Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: [7] But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. [8] But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. [9] The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. Repentance is actually a change of mind about God and His plan so that one may have eternal life in the presence with God for the rest of Eternity. [10] But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. [11] Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, [12] Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? [13] Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. [14] Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. [15] And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; [16] As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. [17] Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. [18] But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen. It’s interesting how people always blame God for something that isn’t His fault. People would be more accurate to blame Satan. He’s the one that introduced sin into the world Not God. Man went for Satan’s plan, hook line and sinker to the point is can’t be stopped without a major world shaking event that will be worse then the great flood. Have a great day, CDBJ |

I personally wouldn’t feel like you have just grabbed me by the throat and are screaming in my face by using all those capitals. 1 Kings 19:12 and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice. Hi Bill, I know what you are saying and it seems that we are always looking for a way to get, as it were, even a toe in the door so that the opportunity to present God’s solution for man’s problem can be explained. I had an uncle that I constantly witnessed to. He was very bitter and resentful of God due to a bad experience losing close friends during the war. They sure can’t stop us from praying for them and trying to spoon feed them. 2 Cor. 4:3-4 But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, [4] whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them. Hi Bill, I just rebooted the computer on the top of my shoulders and came up with a few you might be able to use; check them out? Isaiah 13:19-22 And Babylon, the beauty of kingdoms, the glory of the Chaldeans' pride, Will be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah. [20] It will never be inhabited or lived in from generation to generation; Nor will the Arab pitch his tent there, Nor will shepherds make their flocks lie down there. [21] But desert creatures will lie down there, And their houses will be full of owls, Ostriches also will live there, and shaggy goats will frolic there. [22] And hyenas will howl in their fortified towers And jackals in their luxurious palaces. Her fateful time also will soon come And her days will not be prolonged. Jeremiah 49:18 "Like the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah with its neighbors," says the Lord, "no one will live there, nor will a son of man reside in it. Deut. 29:23 'All its land is brimstone and salt, a burning waste, unsown and unproductive, and no grass grows in it, like the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, which the Lord overthrew in His anger and in His wrath.' 108 | Elders not a pastor should lead church | Bible general Archive 3 | CDBJ | 176326
Greetings Bereaniam, I know exactly where you are coming from. I checked out and found the perfect local church the other day, and then they checked me out and wouldn’t let me join because if I joined they wouldn’t be perfect anymore, with me in the congregation. (Just kidding; well at least about the first part.) I get the same vibes that you are getting from the local church that I attend and I can see it getting further and further away from a concentrated effort to disseminate Bible doctrine. They appear to be more interested in the numbers attending then they are the quality of the message and are doing every thing they can to please the most. They are always expanding their outreach and trying to raise funds for their projects but they aren’t giving the Word out to those they reach. It’s great to help people that need help but what is the sense in helping them with their present problem if aren’t given God’s solution for their bigger problem. Sort of like pulling people out of the frying pan so they can throw them into the fire. 1 Cor. 15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. The way I see it, the biggest problem in the World today is attributed to the fact that people are trying to live without Christ, with out hope and without eternal life and Jesus can fix it all! Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. There’s more room on the top of the soap box, CDBJ |

Hi Ardmore, You made the statement previously that the population of the Earth, since man was created, is up close to fifty billion which seems way too high to me. Someone quoted a figure, and I don’t remember who it was, that over half the number of people that have ever lived on Earth are still alive today. I don’t know if you have a frame of reference for the figure “1 billion” but a man can’t live long enough to count to 1 billion; there aren’t enough hours in a day considering that one has to eat and sleep. It doesn’t t take all that many people for a person not to be able to count that high. I appreciate your answering part of my post, but it seems like you are avoiding the big question! Again: Have you come to the point yet, in your spiritual experience, where you can say “for certain” that you have eternal life credited to your account; is heaven a sure thing from your perspective? Forget the billions for a minute and tell us what your personal position is amongst all those numbers. i.e. where do you stand? Matthew 5:14-16 You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. [15] Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. [16] Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. Do you have the light yet, CDBJ |

112 | trinity | Bible general Archive 3 | CDBJ | 179610
Greetings, Some of the more biblically recognized characteristic of God are as follows; Sovereignty, Righteousness, Justice, Love, Eternal Life, Omniscience, Omnipresence, Omnipotence, Immutability and Veracity; this list isn’t complete but it pretty well explains what God is like. In this sense the Bible tells us that God is One. There is no one else in existence, other then God, that has all of these special characteristics; we can say therefore, that in essence, God is One there is no other like Him. i.e. God is the only one that has these essence, if anyone could display all of these essence, they would in fact be God. The Bible points out that there are three distinct separate personalities in existence that exhibit all of these essences, as God. The Bible describes them as The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. So God is One in essence, but Three in Personalities. All three personalities have the exact same attributes, being God, all are equal as one, yet the personalities function differently but for the self same perfect results. The word for God in the Hebrew, “elohiym” is a plural word; He is not a God but “the” God, the one and only. Here is a unique instance where all three personalities are observed at the same time. Matthew 3:16-17 When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. [17] And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." Illustration: God knew in eternity pasts that man would sin, so God devised a perfect plan whereby He could maintain His perfect Righteousness, yet satisfy His perfect Justice. God must punish sin, but God being a Loving God doesn’t want to be separated form man for eternity. The wages for sin is death or separation from God and it must be paid because God is Holy. God can’t die as God, because He is Eternal Life. The price that God’s Holiness demands for sin is death so God in His “genius” came up with the perfect solution. One of the members of the Trinity would become a man so that God could take out His wrath for sin on That Man. In essence God said I will become a man and pay the ultimate price that I demand. Hebrews 10:5 Therefore, when He came into the world, He said: "Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, But a body You have prepared for Me. That is why Jesus is as the verse says; John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. Jesus is the most unique person in existence. He is different from man in that He is God and he is different from God in that He is Man: He is the God Man. He is the only mediator between God and man because He is of both parties. 1 Tim. 2:5 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, This might not clear up the Trinity for you entirely but I sure hope it helps. Have a great day, CDBJ |

113 | what comes first hope or faith | Bible general Archive 3 | CDBJ | 180630
Hi geostephone, Here is an easy one: prove it with Scripture or we won't believe it! 2 Tim. 3:16 (NASB) All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; Psalm 119:160 (NASB) The sum of Thy word is truth, And every one of Thy righteous ordinances is everlasting. Just saying that “hope” precedes “faith”, with out supporting your hypothesis, with biblical evidence, is useless information on a Bible study forum. As 2 Timothy says, Scripture is profitable, not individual assumptions. What we personally think or assume doesn’t convey any authority; it’s what the Lord says through His Word, the Bible that counts. I don't mean to sound curt but what would be the authority behind your statement as you understand it, and why should we believe what you say apart from God’s Word? “Don’t give up”, just support you statement with biblical facts; maybe you can convince me that there is more Scripture in God’s Word that I have overlooked in favor of your synopsis. Enjoy the forum, CDBJ |

115 | what comes first hope or faith | Bible general Archive 3 | CDBJ | 180746
Hi Geo, It doesn’t work like that in the spiritual realm; seeing “isn’t” believing”, believing is seeing. John 3:3 (KJV) Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. The reason is because until a person is born of the spirit they don’t even have the means to receive anything from God. 1 Cor. 2:14 (KJV) But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. It would be like sitting in a room without a TV set; the signals for a picture are passing through the room constantly but there is no TV set to receive the picture. God doesn’t bring or spiritual receiver to life until we fully trust in God’s Son, Jesus Christ. 2 Cor. 5:17 (NASB) Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. John 1:13 who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. One can’t even enter in to the family of God with out faith. Faith is the starting point of entering into the plan of God, John 1:12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, The word believe in the English is translated from the Koine Greek, of the original language of the New Testament, PISTIS or PISTEUO. The book of John always uses the word “believe” for PISTIS or PISTEUO whereas Paul’s writings uses the word “faith” but it’s the same exact word PISTIS or PISTEUO; believe, believeth. When the word “hope” is used in the New Testament it is translated from the original word ELPIS. Hope in the English conveys the meaning of a desire, or a wish. It would be like asking a person if they are saved and they say, “I hope so”. A person that is saved knows “absolutely for sure” that they are saved: eternal life isn’t something that they “desire”, it’s something “they already have”. ELPIS in the Greek means “absolute confidence” or something that is “confidently expected”, there is no desire or wish about it; it’s a sure thing because it all depends on Jesus and what He did. When one puts “all” of their faith (PISTIS) in God’s Son Jesus then God, through His Spirit, reveals the fact that we “absolutely” have eternal life, and ELPIS develops as we learn Bible doctrine. 1 John 5:10-13 The one who believes (PISTEUO) in the Son of God has the witness in himself; i.e.THE INDWELLIG HOLY SPIRIT) the one who does not believe (PISTEUO)God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed (PISTIS) in the witness that God has borne concerning His Son. 11And the witness is this, that God has given (COMPLITED ACTION) us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12He who has the Son (BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH) has the life; he who does not have the Son of God (NO FAITH IN JESUS) does not have the life. 13These things I have written to you who believe (PISTIS OR FAITH) in the name of the Son of God, (JESUS) in order that you may know that you have eternal life. (NOW WE EXPECT IT, ELPIS i.e. hope.) Hope follows faith because hope is a product of the indwelling Holy Spirit plus the intake of Bible doctrine. No faith in Jesus equals no indwelling so faith must come first. Have fun, CDBJ |
