361 | Do you have scriptures to affirm? | 2 Thess 2:3 | CDBJ | 187672
Hi M. Royal, I believe you could add a few other verses to your question if you don’t mind my two cents worth? Matthew 13:30 Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, "First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn." ' " Matthew 13:36-43 Then Jesus sent the multitude away and went into the house. And His disciples came to Him, saying, "Explain to us the parable of the tares of the field." 37He answered and said to them: "He who sows the good seed is the Son of Man. 38The field is the world, the good seeds are the sons of the kingdom, but the tares are the sons of the wicked one. 39The enemy who sowed them is the devil, the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are the angels. 40Therefore as the tares are gathered and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of this age. 41The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, 42and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. 43Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear! All of these verses tie in with, 2 Thes. 1:7-10 and to give you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, 8in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, The following is the time frame of all the verses. 10when He comes, in that Day, to be glorified in His saints and to be admired among all those who believe, because our testimony among you was believed. Rev. 6:12-14 records the same thing as Joel Rev. 6:12-14 I looked when He opened the sixth seal, and behold, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became like blood. 13And the stars of heaven fell to the earth, as a fig tree drops its late figs when it is shaken by a mighty wind. 14Then the sky receded as a scroll when it is rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved out of its place. 362 | Jesus' thoughts on child abuse | Matt 18:6 | CDBJ | 187620
I suppose that this discussion could go on for pages but I don’t believe the Lord would condone the “abuse” per se of anyone the way I see it! Have a great day and this needs no response, CDBJ |

363 | Jesus' thoughts on child abuse | Matt 18:6 | CDBJ | 187539
Greetings L42H, If one were too, as you suggest, take the verse in Matt. exactly as it is given wouldn’t that conclusion cause a problem? You stated: "It would not be wrong to take it literally and connect it to the topic of child abuse." Matthew 18:6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea. If that’s your synopsis then it would only cover those, as Jesus said, “the ones that believe in me.” i.e. excluding those that don’t? Doesn’t that seem a little strange? CDBJ |

Hi Tony, I believe you are really stretching Psalm 37:4 to the limit. Psalm 37:4 Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. I don’t think its saying delight thyself in your pets! I love my pets but I can’t say that I’ve found any Scripture that assures me they will be in heaven? I’m very sad to say that but facts are facts. 2 Tim. 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. CDBJ |

Hi AF, Maybe I missed something in your post; I’ve been known to do that now and again? What two translations were in reference I only noticed the one, (KJV)? I also notice that you made a change in post #187070 form (sins), to (sin) in post #187288 is there a difference? CDBJ |

Greetings AF, I’m not saying that I completely disagree with you but the verse you used to explain repentance, in Matt. doesn’t say what you’ve implied in the KJV. Matthew 4:17 (KJV) From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Using the word to describe it isn’t a definition the way I see it. Have a great day, CDBJ |

369 | gifts of Healing and Miracles for today. | 1 Cor 12:9 | CDBJ | 187109
Hello royalone, Using the same verse of Scripture that you enumerated on to prove your point regarding the function of the “gift of healing” as still being active; 1 Cor. 12:28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. What advantage would it serve today since the Lord promises to take care of His own? Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Since you affirm the activity of the “gift of healing” as still being a “necessary and active” gift are we to assume there are still apostles functioning in the church as well, since it was mentioned as being set in the church the same time as the gift of healings? Some gifts are still functional such as teachers but our modus operandi is faith not sight. 2 Cor. 5:7 for we walk by faith, not by sight-- i.e. believing God’s Word is proof; that which is perfect has come, God’s written Word. It would appear that the apostle Paul himself eventually lost his “gift of healing”. 2 Tim. 4:20 Erastus abode at Corinth: but Trophimus have I left at Miletum sick. I definitely believe in divine healing, I just don’t believe in divine healers. 1 Thes. 5:18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. The Lord healed my wife after having 25 grand mal seizures and 2 strokes in one day and she has no after affects but she sure has been used of the Lord as a result. Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. God's grace is still sufficient even if He chooses not to heal. The lord still answers prayer, yes, no, or wait. In prayer there is a petition and a desire. Paul prayed three times to have he thorn in the flesh removed. His desire was to serve the Lord; he petition remove the thorn. His desire was granted but his petition wasn’t. 1 Cor. 13:11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. I hope you enjoy the forum, CDBJ |

371 | gifts of Healing and Miracles for today. | 1 Cor 12:9 | CDBJ | 187033
Greetings royalone and welcome to the forum. Many of the gifts of the early church were in effect just long enough for spoken Word to be complete in book form and received. That which was perfect had come. People finally could see God’s Message and they listened to it as soon as the perfect written word had been fully established and the special gifts dwindled away and in place is the completed Cannon of Scripture that expressed the mind of Christ Center stage became redirected from certain members endowed with a special gift to God directly and God’s written word. The show gifts had there time is the sun now all of the attention is pointed to the Son, he gets all the Glory and credit. 1 Cor. 2:16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ The spectacle gifts have given way to Gods written word which are conveys directly in His Word. Any believer can go directly to the throne of grace for help. Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. CDBJ |

372 | Would Adam and Eve have fallen? | Gen 3:13 | CDBJ | 186985
The more one experiments by digging a pit under a huge rock the more likely it is that the rock will fall on him at some point; maybe the next shovel full. I’ve found it’s not a good idea to try undermining a large rock without ample support for the rock first! Or better yet use the rock for the foundation instead of trying to put a new foundation under the rock. There aren’t many that are “willing” to jump in a pit and help stop a rock that’ obviously starting to fall; if you get my drift? Psalm 119:160 The sum of Thy word is truth, And every one of Thy righteous ordinances is everlasting. 2 Tim. 2:15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, handling accurately the word of truth. This might help? (From) Bible Knowledge Commentary 22:2b. As John contemplated the heavenly city, he saw the tree of life, bearing 12 crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. Interpreters have puzzled over this expression that the tree of life is on each side of the river. Some take this is as a group of trees. Others say that the river of life is narrow and that it flows on both sides of the tree. The tree of life was referred to in the Garden of Eden (Gen. 3:22, 24), where it was represented as perpetuating physical life forever. Adam and Eve were forbidden to eat of the fruit of this tree. Earlier in Revelation (2:7) the saints were promised the “right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.” While the literal and the symbolic seem to be combined in this tree, there is no reason why it could not be an actual tree with literal fruit. The practical effect would be to continue physical life forever. While the verse does not state that the fruit can be eaten, this is presumably the implication. The tree’s leaves… are for the healing of the nations. Based on this statement some have referred this situation back to the millennial times when there will be sickness and healing. However, another meaning seems to be indicated. The word “healing” (therapeian) can be understood as “health-giving.” The English “therapeutic” is derived from this Greek word. Even though there is no sickness in the eternal state, the tree’s fruit and leaves seem to contribute to the physical well-being of those in the eternal state. (BKC) This has been hashed out several times on the forum if my memory serves me right. Another cop-out! CDBJ |

Not really; That is a good type but the tree of life shows up in, Rev. 22:1-2 And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. 2In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. Still awake, CDBJ |

379 | Does Jesus have two natures now? | Phil 2:6 | CDBJ | 186522
Hi Abek, Your doing just fine; the only ones that don’t make any mistakes on this form are the one’s that are afraid to even post on it. Keep up the questions you’ll catch on. With reference to Jesus, He is the most unique person in existence. He is 100 percent Man and He is 100 percent God. He is different form God in that He is Man and He is different from man in that He is God; He is the God Man. 1 Tim. 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Every one knows that during some point after they die they must stand before God. According to the following verse, who do you thing it will be John 5:22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: CDBJ |
