1261 | Which Church is the right one? | NT general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 71385
Greetings Hank, I do in fact attend church and, with my wife, do as much as we can within the church; it is a very large church and we thoroughly enjoy the fellowship as well as the teaching and worship aspect of it. The only problem is I don’t want to mislead someone into thinking that a building or a particular denomination is going to do them any good as far as their salvation is concerned. There are many in our church that are practicing churchanity and it bothers me to no end. When listening to their testimony, as it were, they talk about how nice the church is and how much they have enjoyed it since attending. The main thing that is missing in their testimony is the name Jesus. Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. If I spend five minutes lifting up the benefits of belonging to my church I look at it as wasting that time that I could have used lifting up my incredible Savior Jesus Christ. People need Christ first and if they are obedient to the study of the Word, II Tim. 2:15, the Lord will put them where he wants them. As someone so aptly put it, sitting in a church will no more make you a Christian the sitting in a garage will make you a car. There are a lot of people sitting in churches that are assuming that they are Christians and that just isn’t the case and the big problem is that they won’t find out until it’s too late. Matthew 7:21-23 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. [22] Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? [23] And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Too many people are trying to put the cart before the horse, only when they get the cart they forget all about the horse, thinking that they have it all with the beautiful cart that they are sitting in. All of the church ritual in the world won’t take the place of the reality of a personal relationship with the living Jesus Christ. It is like trying to explain an automatic washing machine to someone that has never seen one. They are perfectly content with beating their clothes on a rock; the will never miss something that they have never had and your not about to convince the any different. That is what it says in Matthew in spiritual terms. Matthew 16:15-17 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? [16] And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. [17] And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. We can’t reveal to anyone who Jesus really is, that is the work of the Father and as a result those that have had this revealed to them by the Father are members of the true church or body of Christ. People are always trying to perform works for God and God makes it pretty clear what he wants man to do. John 6:28-29 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? [29] Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. So the way I see it I should be lifting up Christ not my denomination in order for people to have faith in him. Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. I think that churches with their pastors and teachers are for the believers not unbelievers so that the believers can do the work of reaching the unregenerate. Ephes. 4:12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Well it even sounds to me like I am beginning to soapbox so I guess it’s time for me to shut up! I picked my copy of W.E. Vine in 1966, now does that tell you anything? I have a program on my PC that goes into the Greek and Hebrew and I use it quite a lot. It has almost replaced my entire library of study books with a few exceptions. I can usually find the answers that I need in my program faster then I can find one of my books on it’s shelf. My how times change and knowledge is increasing at a phenomenal rate? That sounds like something I think I might have read someplace?

1266 | Is Jesus Gods son? | Heb 1:5 | CDBJ | 71091
Jesus didn’t have an old sin nature because he wasn’t born of the seed of Adam. The old sin nature is passed down through the male seed, and that which was conceived in Mary was of the Holy Spirit. Christ wasn’t in Adam hence no OSN. If he would have been of Adams seed he couldn’t have been perfect and when he died he couldn’t have been our substitute. Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: This is speaking of Adam’s contaminated seed as being passed on to all of his offspring. If I remember correctly there are 46 chromosomes, which are any of the microscopic rod-shaped bodies formed by the incorporation of the chromatin in a cell nucleus during mitosis and meiosis: they carry the genes that convey hereditary characteristics, and are constant in number for each species. In the process of meiosis and polar body the female once a month throws off the contaminated chromosomes and her 23 uncontaminated ones are left for fertilization. This is how Jesus came to be without and old sin nature. Matthew 1:20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. Death came through the first Adam, life comes through the last Adam. Adam made a decision to get out, we have to make a decision to get in. Thus we have the new birth and we become a new creation in Christ. Romans 5:17-19 For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.) [18] Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. [19] For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. I hope this doesn't confuse people, CDBJ |

Pastor Glenn, did you really mean to say that Jesus had a nature like ours or a body like ours, seeing that we have an old sin nature that we genetically inherited from Adam? 1 Cor. 15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. Ephes. 2:3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. |

People are saying, “What’s the world coming to?” We pretty much have the answer to that one and I always tell them that I have read the end of the book and the believers win! It always tickles me when Hollywood comes up with something like the movie Armageddon and the earth wins. People don’t even have a clue about such things and whom the people of Earth will be fighting against. Like they will really have a chance fighting against the very God of the universe! Now there is a good title for a sermon that might open a few eyes. Contrary to Hollywood the people of earth are going to lose the battle at Armageddon and I can prove it! It sure is nice to know who holds the future and we are on His side. CDBJ

Since you were a pastor in St. Marys does that mean you were a Catholic priest? Oh, I just noticed the Ohio at the end, just kidding! My son lived about 10 miles from there before he moved to the Woster Ohio area. Every time I got to visit him I have to watch out for the black horse drawn buggies. There is an area not to far from where he lives now called Kiddren Ohio: Just being there takes one back in time over 100 years. One day, when my son was about nine, we drove down to Kiddren and there was an auction going on for farm animals. An Amish man had a pig jump out of his wagon and run off squealing in frantic desperation as we watched the black clad figure with a big black hat chase the pig up and over a hill for about a half a mile. My boy still laughs about that when I mention it, I don’t know if the poor fellow ever did catch the elusive fleeting pork chop? |

It sounds to me like the ham just answered my last post that I sent; Just kidding. Yes, I live in Suffield about 400 yards south of Mogadore reservoir but we have a Mogadore mailing address because Suffield is to small for a post office. Hartville has one of the lowest crime rates in Ohio, probably due to the Amish population. A lot of people are believers in Hartville and follow biblical principals and as a result, the crime rate is low. It is a dry town if you know what that it? Therefore the lifestyle that accompanies the alcohol is missing also. Did you notice on the news that they were talking about a human being cloned? It sure is the devils world and it looks like he is taking great strides; what’s next? Luke 21:28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh. CDBJ |

Greetings EdB from Northern Ohio, I know that you live in Florida but didn’t realize that you were from Ohio. I live just north of an Amish community called Hartville and my house was built by Amish folks; and as you mentioned, the whole family works on the project. I think that I would trade you an Amish hickory smoked ham for some of that nice Florida warmth. I don’t think that we will ever really be satisfied with where we live until we are at home with the Lord. It seem like all locations have their drawbacks. Speaking of the ham situation I am going to tell one on my eight-year-old grandson. My daughter was fixing a ham for Christmas and her son ask her what they were having; she said a honey-cured ham and my grandson said, “ What kind of disease did it have?” I thought that was a classic, CDBJ |

1278 | Why so many destined for Hell? | 1 Pet 2:8 | CDBJ | 70667
Shelly, you are right and I apologize I directed my post toward you and it should have been directed toward the person that you answered. Some times my fingers get ahead of my mind on this keyboard or I am having a senior moment or something anyway I agree with your answer to the post that you answered. I noticed that in their discussion on salvation, and the emphasis on believing, that the name Jesus wasn’t even mentioned. People can believe in God till they are blue in the face and they will never experience the relationship that is necessary for eternal life until they trust and believe in God’s unique Son Jesus the Christ. The best to you in this glorious time of year when we celebrate the greatest gift that has ever been given; God’s precious Son, Jesus. CDBJ |

1279 | Does this make pretrib rapture unlikely | Dan 7:25 | CDBJ | 70592
Hello Edb, you are right when it comes to the hassle that one derives from a discussion that seems to be somewhat controversial. People don’t want to learn or they won’t leave their minds open to truth; they get so set in their ways that they don’t want to be confused by the facts. I have been a Christian for over 37 years now and one of my main interests in Scripture has been the study of eschatology I try to read everything that I can get my hands on. I have studied the different views concerning the timing of the coming of the Lord and have been an ardent student of the pre tribulation view but there has always been a lot of loose ends that didn’t quite fit. There is a very old concept that has recently brought back to light by several different people at the same time and several books that use extensive Scripture to prove the facts. One of those sharing this view was a professor of theology at Moody and because he was so adamant about this rediscovered truth he voluntarily left them rather the compromise what had been revealed to him. Another was the director of The Friends of Israel Gospel Ministry; he to stepped down rather then denounce what had been revealed to him concerning the rapture of the Church and he was the one who established that the standard position for the mission would be the pre tribulation position. I think you are right about what you have said, as to discussing it on the forum but if you would like to examine the information more thoroughly look up my personal profile and drop me a note on my e-mail address. Yours in the Lord, CDBJ |

1280 | John 1:1 and the word was a god | John 1:1 | CDBJ | 70570
Hi Tim, is it true that in the Koine Greek that the absence of the definite article puts more emphasis on the subject where as in the English the opposite is true? As a result when translating from the Greek to the English when the definite article is left out in the Greek it must be added in the English so that the emphasis remains constant. Example John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Isn’t the definite article left out in the original language in this verse? I assume that this rule doesn’t follow through with the indefinite article; is that right or not? Any help that you can give will be appreciated, CDBJ |
