1141 | Rapture taken how where when? | NT general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 78456
You are right there isn’t anything secret about it, it will be the most spectacular thing that the Earth has ever observed and all will see it. When the Lord delivered Noah and Lot it wasn’t any secret snatching away. Those that weren’t delivered to safety were watching as the deliverance of a few took place then they themselves were on the receiving end of God’s wrath; it all happened on the same day. The same scenario will play out at the rapture. Just like when the people were troubling Noah and the ones in Sodom were troubling Lot, the Lord came to deal with them and remove the righteous. At the rapture when the Lord will come to be glorified in his saints the same scenario will play out. 2 Thes. 1:6-10 Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you; 7And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, 8In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: 9Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; 10When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day. 1142 | To be saved must we be baptised? | Acts 2:38 | CDBJ | 78180
Friend, don’t be fooled by the book of James the works come after salvation not before. If ones nature has changed so will his life and the works will be automatic; works are a result not a means. Grace does all the work and it works it’s way out of the believer. Ephes. 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we (believers) should walk in them. A pig is a pig because of his nature; you can work and clean him up all you want and even put a nice little bow on it but it will return to the mud every chance it gets because it didn’t get a new nature it’s still a pig at heart. 2 Cor. 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. A man isn’t a new creature because of his works, he is a new creature because of his position in Christ. God the Father places individuals in Christ by grace through faith in his Son: Not by any form of works, should some dare to boast about or anything they have done like baptism, good work, walking an aisle, the list is a mile long. Anything that a person cares to do other then trust in the finish work of Jesus is not grace but works. There is nothing that we can do that will impress God! The only thing the God is impressed with is what his precious Son did for us. Those that try to do anything to add to the saving work of Jesus will not come under his protection of saving grace because if they did it wouldn’t be grace it would be earned. It is not 99 percent Jesus and 1 percent us. It must be 100 percent trust in Jesus and believers zero or they won’t be counted as a believer! If people don’t understand this they better get on their knees and do a lot of praying for wisdom before it’s too late. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved!!! CDBJ |

1143 | To be saved must we be baptised? | Acts 2:38 | CDBJ | 78177
There are going to be a lot of surprised people when Jesus responds to the many wonderful works that were all done in conjunction with his name. Matthew 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. John 14:7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. John 14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. John 14:20 At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. There are those that have accused me of being narrow minded because I can’t see thing their way but the problem is their way leads to death. Proverbs 14:12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. CDBJ |

1144 | To be saved must we be baptised? | Acts 2:38 | CDBJ | 78162
Hi Tim, I came across a section on the Internet the other day that makes a lot of sense by Charles T. Buntin. In all the vastness of our world, in all of the diversity of religious beliefs, there are only two essential types of belief, works and Grace. There seem to be many differences between the world’s religions, but they are all essentially the same they all center around human works. All involve human beings accomplishing a task or set of tasks to achieve a goal and receive a reward. The tasks may be different, the goal may have differing names, and the reward may be called many things (Heaven Paradise, Nirvana), but the principle underlying all of them is the same Quid Pro Quo, which is Latin for this for that. In the world’s religions, salvation (righteousness, oneness with the Infinite, perfect nothingness, or whatever is the term in a particular religion) is earned by what one does. Unfortunately, within this group of religions based on human effort are many species of religion that go by the name of Christianity. Paradigm 1:Works (Followed by most religions, including much of so-called Christianity.) World Religions Pseudo Christian Version We work our way to God, salvation, Nirvana, Paradise In salvation, we are returned to where Adam was before the Fall. God (or whatever represents deity) judges our progress as we go along Even after salvation, We still have God as our Judge Attainment of Godhood, salvation, Paradise, Nirvana depends upon us Our will and our efforts determine whether or not we go to heaven Paradigm 2: Salvation by GRACE 1) Salvation is 100 percent a work of God we are unable, because of our bondage to sin and rebellion, to do anything meriting God’s favor. (2) God reaches down to save people He conceived the plan, He sent His Son to accomplish the plan He does 100 percent of the work. (3) When we experience what the Bible calls the New Birth (Jn 3:3-8), we are then SAVED, we pass from death to life (Eph 2:1-6, Jn 5:24, 6:40, 6:47). (4) As a part of the gift of Salvation, we become adopted children of God (Gal 3:26-4:7). (5) When we sin, God deals with us as a Father to a child (Heb 12:4-8). (6) God’s Grace and actions are the determining factors in our salvation, even to include His working in our lives to develop a lifestyle consistent with salvation. (Eph 2:8-10, Phil. 2:12-13) You might ask, If this is all a work of God, where do I fit in the process? The answer is you must believe, you must exercise faith in Christ for salvation. (Rom 10:9-13, Acts 16:30-31). This exercise is not a work, however, because is involves no ability on our part and no effort on our part. That is the hard thing to understand about faith it is not an action, it is a surrender, a throwing up of the hands and saying, I can do nothing in myself. Tim, I think one of the big problems is that we get into discussions with people that have studied the Bible and have verses that they use to back up their pet humanistic assumptions but if they aren’t truly saved yet by GRACE they can’t really know what the truth is and no matter how hard we try they will never understand us until God reveals the truth to them. Since God resist arrogance they probably never will come to the knowledge of the truth because they are still depending on their doing something no matter how much they use the name of Jesus and falsely claim they are trusting in him. Matthew 16:17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. Until the Father reveals truth to them we are like beating our heads on a brick wall. People cannot comprehend the function of God’s grace until He does the work in them; it is the same as trying to talk to a dead man, they can’t hear it. 1 Cor. 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. Hi Joe.I think the real problem with some people is found within 1 Cor. 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. Some people are missing that which it takes to understand what is being told them, because their receiver isn't working right;the power hasn't been hooked up yet. CDBJ |

1146 | What "norms" can we disregard? | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 77754
Greeting Hank, you talk about how sad and foolish people can be and that they don’t understand grace. Grace is like getting a ride on the space shuttle, only the shuttle is Jesus and one must be buckled in tight. Those that don’t understand grace and aren’t trusting on Jesus death on the cross, are trying to make sure they are covering all the possibilities. They in fact don’t think what Jesus did is enough, so they remove themselves from the shuttle, that’s going 17,000 mph, so they can help push with their puny works of baptism or keeping the law or what ever else is in addition to faith. Galatians 1:6-7 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: 7Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. Faith is staying buckled in the seat and relying only on Jesus who is able to accomplish what he says he will do. 2 Tim. 1:12 (B) for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day. 1147 | What "norms" can we disregard? | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 77746
Hi Hank, I think that a lot of what we try to convey on this forum is like talking to a dead person they can’t hear a thing that you say because they are dead. 1 Cor. 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. How far does God’s plan of salvation go with grace, will it overlook UNDIVIDED faith in Jesus and accepts a little self-righteousness from one trying to keep the law? I guess maybe grace is no more grace? CDBJ |

1148 | To be saved must we be baptised? | Acts 2:38 | CDBJ | 77037
Greetings Timothy Paul, Romans 10:9 can be even more concentrated to bring out the truth about salvation. That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Notice in the next verse the absence of water baptism, good works, confession with the mouth and anything else people would like to get hung up on. 1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. Plain, pure, and unencumbered by something we do, that’s grace! There are some on this forum that are trying to encourage the same thing that Paul was trying to discourage in Galatians. Galatians 1:6-7 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: 7Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. Anytime the focus is diverted from Jesus and what he did to something we can do to supposedly help the plan of salvation causes believers to fall from their steadfastness in Christ, be careful. 1150 | Is hearing necessary for salvation? | Rom 10:17 | CDBJ | 76678
If you are truthful when you say that you are curious I will be glad to expatiate; if you are looking for a debate with regard to this matter this will be the last post on this issue. The requirement for salvation, boiled down to it’s purest form, with out the interdiction of parenthetical phrases is found in many places in the Bible. The word salvation is synonymous with such words as saved, having life, eternal life, born again, becoming a son, etc. Looking at the overall picture and where the emphasis should be placed one must give special consideration to the Gospel of John since this was his primary intent for writing his Gospel. John 20:30-31 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: 31But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. Coming to the point of believing is the simple key to eternal life. The word for believe as simple as it is in the English is a highly complexed word in the Greek along with it’s original intent. The point at which salvation is obtained is not fully accomplished until the original intent of the action of believe has met. The Original word, PISTIS along with its sub forms have been translated faith as well as believe. The emphasis of the action of this aorist tense verb, in the Greek since it is a transitive verb, must be placed on the object. This is not a part and partial action, in order for eternal life to be an absolute fact, all of one PISTIS must be 100 percent within the person of Jesus Christ. i.e. not PISTIS plus this that or anything else, everything else is excluded! John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: In the previous verse we are told that receiving Jesus the Christ is synonymous with believing. Where people run into a snag in when they see verses like, Luke 13:3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. What people fail to recognize is that the word repent, METANOEO in the Greek isn’t feeling sorry, as most would assume, but it is a compound word META, literally to change and NOEA the mind. It is like being lost and heading in the opposite direction of where one should be heading. The Bible says that we are all trying to do it, like old Frankie use to sing, I do it my way. What the Bible tells us is that repent and believe or faith are two sides of the same coin, one can’t have one without the other, and they both point to the person of Jesus Christ. Faith with out repent is impossible and repent with out he object of faith is impossible thus we have both in order to be effectual. Now to the confession part. If one would just consider the essence of God there wouldn’t be a problem, case and point. Acts 10:34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: It can’t be both ways if confession with the mouth must be a part of salvation then God is a respecter of persons because there are some individuals that can’t say a word, do to physical maladies. That would be like saying because they can’t talk they couldn’t be saved, making God a respecter of persons. Now I will conclude with the statement that I made in my previous post. I believe the only thing needed for salvation is perspicacity with regard to the gospel message This action, perspicacity, is initiated and revealed by God and is not attributed to any meritorious function on the part of the one involved. The message of the gospel is made clear by the work of the Holy Spirit; it is either believed or rejected by the recipient. Ephes. 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9Not of works, lest any man should boast. If this is not clear to some I would suggest that you pray and ask God the Father to reveal it to you because it is a Biblical impossibility for me to do it; this is the work and function or ministry of the Holy Spirit. Matthew 16:17 B (emphasis added and expounded) To be envied are you that are saved, and know it: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto you, but my Father, which is in heaven. :18 I am telling you, you who are saved by the understanding of who the Son is and what He has done for you, that this is how I am going to build my church, the living elect of God, and there is nothing that can tear it down because I Am who I Am. Job 9:5-10 Which removeth the mountains, and they know not: which overturneth them in his anger. 6Which shaketh the earth out of her place, and the pillars thereof tremble. 7Which commandeth the sun, and it riseth not; and sealeth up the stars. 8Which alone spreadeth out the heavens, and treadeth upon the waves of the sea. 9Which maketh Arcturus, Orion, and Pleiades, and the chambers of the south. 10Which doeth great things past finding out; yea, and wonders without number. Greetings PJC, the antichrist will make a seven year covenant of safety with Israel. I can’t personally see the Jews trusting any one like Saddam. It will be some charismatic individual that has joined three nations together and the three are using him as their single leader along with the help of seven other nations he will promise peace and safety to the Jews but after 42 months they will realize it was a treaty with death. Daniel 9:26-27 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. 27And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate. |

1157 | How Does Baptism Save? | 1 Pet 3:21 | CDBJ | 75633
Hi sniper, the “You see” is for our benefit not God’s; he knows if a person has the proper faith, we don’t know unless we see something that exhibits the fact. From your post it sounds like you are putting a lot of emphasis on baptism. Which came first complete trust in Jesus work, as payment for our sin, or the baptism, and what happens if the person drops over dead before they had a chance to be baptized after they believe? Don’t get the cart before the horse, notice the prerequisite for baptism. Acts 8:36 B See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? Another way to put it is, is there any reason why I shouldn’t be baptized. The next verse shows what must precede baptism. Acts 8:37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. The eunuch came up with the right answer so Philip baptized him. A lot of people are trusting in their baptism with water to help save them and Jesus doesn’t like to share the praise with someone’s assumptions. Have a nice day, CDBJ |

1160 | How Does Baptism Save? | 1 Pet 3:21 | CDBJ | 75608
Hi Sniper, I love it when people use that verse to try and prove there position on works but one needs to back up a little to keep it in context. James 2:22-24 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? 23And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. 24Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. Did you notice the word SEEST at the start of verse 22 then again in verse 24, YE SEE? The next time you get a chance measure out 3 cubic feet of faith and tell me what it weighs. Or better still, cut off a nice long piece and give us the measurement of how long it is, please don’t use metrics because a lot of us have trouble with that. Pretty soon you will realize that we cant fathom exactly what faith is all we can do is experience it’s results. I believe the Lord taught me a good illustration with regards to faith and works. It seems strange but it get the point across with the analogy. The illustration is that FAITH is to poison ivy, as WORKS are to scratching. Example, If you have true faith in Jesus Christ, it will manifest it's self outwardly. Just like the one that has poison ivy, they are going to scratch, they can't help it, it’s the nature of the dumb stuff. If you have poison ivy on you, you just can’t help it, you’re going to scratch; I’m speaking from experience! Now let say that a person DOESN"T have poison ivy, they could scratch till they look lobster red, yet all of that useless scratching isn’t going to give them poison ivy. They have to come in contact with the vine to get it. The vine in this illustration would be Jesus and faith in him. People can go through all the motions and do all the things that a true believer dose and make all of the proper noises but they are still not under the influence of the one who causes the works to come out of the believer in the first place; they are pseudo believers and there will come a day when the Lord will say I never knew you. The verse that says faith with out works is dead it true because if one has the faith the works will manifest themselves by the fruit that is producing. But there again Jesus said in John 10:14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. Luke 8:10 And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand. Have a nice day, CDBJ |
