1102 | Studying O.T. is creating problems. | Genesis | CDBJ | 84825
Hello Free thinker, I guess that my question was rather nebulas and abstruse! I will try and reiterate with out the ambiguity. Lets say there are X amount of things that are knowable in this world. No one person knows everything on the myriad of subjects that exist in the world today, topic wise. I just want your opinion as to how much of all those many different topics, known by all the populace, do you think you are cagnizant of? Myself I would probably be fortunate if I knew one hundredth of one percent of all the knowable information that’s out there and even saying this much would likely be bragging! Do you understand the question now? Please bear me out, I’m not trying to establish any I.Q. on your part, far be it of me to do that seeing that I’m not the sharpest knife in the drawer. CDBJ |

Hello Free Thinker, You claim to be an atheist and a free thinker so I would like to ask you a question if I may? Of all the knowledge that is contained by all the people of this world which is, if I recall correctly, over 6 billion people now, what percentage do you posses within your mind; just give me a rough fraction or percentage of how you would grade yourself? Between you and Hank a fellow doesn’t have a chance! Like the guy that wasn’t paying attention in church one day and ask the fellow next to him, “Did the pastor say that bears name was Gladly”; the guy looked at him and ask, “What are you talking about? The fellow then said, “ I don’t know but I thought I heard the pastor say Gladly the cross-eyed bear. CDBJ |

1105 | Isaiah 14 and Ezekiel 28 not Satan! | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 83270
I think it would be a little more Scriptural to say that we are to resist the Devil and study the Word of God. 2 Tim. 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. It just so happens that the Word of God describes our adversary to us of which few would recognize him as he really is because he doesn’t walk around with a red epidermis and a trident in his hand. There are many arrogant believers that are always saying, “The Devil made me do it” when they do something wrong. Like they are so high up on the scale that Satan would take time out to notice them personally. Ninety nine times out of a hundred they have an over active imagination and an old sin nature that’s working overtime. All the average believer needs to do is get out of fellowship for a while and then their old sin nature will takeover with out the Devils influence. All I am saying is that it helps to know how the enemy works, which consist of Satan and his emissary plus our old sin nature. Romans 7:15-25 For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. 16If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. 17Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. 18For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. 19For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. 20Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. 21I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. 22For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: 23But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. 24O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? 25I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin. Keep short accounts, 1 John 1:9 CDBJ |

1106 | Jesus cast into hell?? | 1 Cor 15:3 | CDBJ | 82961
Jesus paid the redemptive price for our sins while he was hanging on the cross. John 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost. The word finished or TELEO in the Koine Greek, was a term that originated in the slave market when the price of a slave was totally paid for and the transaction was completed. Jesus paid the debt that was due for man’s sin and that was the price require by a Holy God. In the past, one could more or less say that since God must remain Holy that there was a problem. The problem being because God loves man so much. God couldn’t just excuse sin because that would interfere with God’s Holiness, which is made up of His righteousness and justice. What the righteousness of God demands, the justice of God must execute. i.e. Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Man has sinned so man had to pay the price for sin God's righteousness shows up in Romans. Romans 6:23 (A) For the wages of sin is death; The problem is, for man to pay the price God demanded means that man would have to be separated from God and God loves man. So the love of God came up with a plan so that man could pay the price yet spend eternity with God. The members of the Godhead virtually said that one of them would become a man and pay the price for sin that way it won’t have to jeopardize God’s character and man will be able to spend eternity with God. So as a result the second person of the trinity, decided to came down to earth and become a man to pay a debt he didn’t owe, because he had no sin, yet man had a debt that he couldn’t pay, and still spend eternity with God. I would say that this is the best deal in whole world. Our sins were imputed to Christ on the cross and when we trust in the work that Jesus did on the cross for us the very righteousness of God is imputed to us, making us fit for a habitaion with God. 2 Cor. 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. This all being the fact is why we have the statement that Jesus made in John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. I hope this explanation clears up some of your confusion a little, CDBJ |

Hank that was beautiful, you came through again, where do you find this stuff. I thought it was bad when someone said that Isaiah had a horse named Isme. When I ask them where they got that idea they said that Isaiah said in the Bible, woe is me; I think you just topped it! CDBJ |

1108 | Verification on Charles Taze Russell | Col 2:9 | CDBJ | 82721
Friend, I would be very careful about what you say about the person of Jesus Christ if I were you. John 5:21-24 For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will. 22For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: 23That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him. 24Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. If anyone says something that I don’t like about my son I get a little bent out of shape, I don’t thing is it too wise to refute the person and work of God’s Son and come out a winner! Have a nice day, CDBJ |

1109 | Was lazarus in heaven? | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 82591
By your claiming that Lazarus was resurrected by Jesus, “he actually did die and Jesus did resurect him”, doesn’t that contradict Rev. 1:5? Rev. 1:5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, This verse says that Jesus was the first begotten from the dead. If Lazarus was resurrected, then he couldn’t die again and he would live forever with that body that was resurrected and flesh and blood would inherit eternal life, which is a false statement. 1 Cor. 15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. I believe that Lazarus wasn’t resurrected, but instead he was resuscitated. I also believe that he later, unbeknown to us, died again and is now waiting along with the rest of the departed saints for the final calling out where the dead in Christ will rise first. 1 Thes. 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: My two cents worth, CDBJ |

1112 | No need of proof? Faith in faith? | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 81916
Hi searcher56, your thoughts on Heb. 11:1 Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. It’s interesting to note that the word substance comes to us from the word HUPOSTASIS, which actually means making real to our experience. The next word that jumps out at us is evidence taken from ELEGCHOS, which is proof. The true believer in Jesus as God’s savior for man actually has the proof, because they have been given the down payment, which is God the Holy Spirit himself. It’s kind of ironic when it comes to being one of God’s chosen ones. Have you ever heard the saying, seeing is believing? It works just the opposite in God’s kingdom, believing is seeing. Once a person puts their trust and faith in Jesus and the work He did to save them the Bible mysteriously clears up in understanding. 1 Cor. 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. The word mystery, Ephes. 3:9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: The word mystery is a transliteration from the Koine Greek MUSTERION, which was a word coined by the members or brothers of the fraternities. They had secrets or knowledge of the organization that only the brothers knew or understood and it was never revealed to those that weren’t members so the mysteries were not mysteries to all, only to the outsiders the same way true Christianity is only known by those that are indwelt by God and are true members of his body in Christ. So then as a result in Hebrews 11:1 Faith is the stuff that brings or transmits the proof of the thing we haven’t looked at yet but we know they are there because God says so to us personally and we believe Him above everything else! Does this help any I hope, CDBJ |

1113 | What about so-called revelation knowledg | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 81915
Hi Hank, is sounds like someone got your feathers ruffled up a might. I find that hard to do since it is the WOF, Worlds, outrageous, fakes, that is doing it. Ephes. 6:11-19 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: 18Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; Have a good night, CDBJ |

1114 | What qualifies as "heresy"? | 2 Pet 3:9 | CDBJ | 81397
Hi EdB, When it comes to belaboring the point about Calvinist and Arminianist, this saying sure fits. Someone once said that, "We learn from experience that we learn nothing from experience." Scripture isn’t discovered it’s revealed and we aren’t going to convince anyone since that isn’t our ministry; maybe they Lord wants it that way for whatever reason, I don’t know? I had witnessed to a neighbor, I don’t know how many times, and he even sat in on some of my Bible studies, on salvation, without responding. He moved away from our neighborhood and several years later stopped by the house and talked to my wife. He explained to my wife that he had been saved and wondered why we never told him about God’s plain of salvation, my wife’s mouth dropped open; oh well, hearing they don’t hear, it’s all in the Lord’s good time. A man that’s persuaded against his will is a man that’s unpersuaded still. Well, with that little ditty, do you think I will hear from the C. camp? Food for thought but I won't argue the point, CDBJ |

1116 | Lucifer cast down? | Luke | CDBJ | 81391
I personally don’t think it is a second chance for Satan as much as a condition that is finally coming to pass. Satan has been granted a stay of execution but his time is quickly running out. He has been sentenced and the execution of this sentence and his final days, before he is forever placed into the lake of fire, is taking place. Matthew 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: Satan knows that his days are numbered when he is cast out of heaven he is going to unleash his wrath on God’s people residing on the earth. Rev. 12:12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time. It is my belief that this short time is what is called the great tribulation and what Jeremiah calls the time of Jacob’s trouble and a period where Satan makes war with the saint residing on earth. Daniel 7:21 I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them; Rev. 13:7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. Hello Radioman2, If that is the meaning of TULIP I am afraid I will have to pass on that one; it cuts across too much that I believe to be truth, that has been revealed to me from Scripture; and PLEASE, you precious ones that adhere to the TULIP concept don’t waste your time trying to convince me otherwise! For you precious ones that believe the TULIP theory, Instead of trying to convince me, spend that amount of time giving some poor lost soul the message of Christ Jesus in the gospel and we will all be happy. 1118 | Debate Arminian/Calvinist views? | 2 Pet 3:9 | CDBJ | 81301
Hi Reformer Joe, Your suggestion, “I think we should all identify ourselves theologically by our user ID's” This was done a long time ago until denominations got their views into the picture and destroyed the beauty and purity of it all. Acts 11:26 (B) And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch. The term Christian is so misused now days that the true meaning is a thing of the past. As for standing for something as far as association goes all I can say is that the only thing that I stand for is Jesus Christ because He is the only object that really matters in my life. Paul summed it up the same way. Philip. 1:21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. My two cents worth, CDBJ |

Greetings Radioman2, From reading many of your post it sounds like you are in the same boat that I am in. I guess if I were to receive a label I would be considered a Calviminianist or something close to that flavor because I am not persuaded by either camp when it comes to the hyper views. I suppose that I am sitting somewhere in the middle if there is such a place because I can’t beat the drum for either view. I hate to appear ignorant but what do you mean by the “TULIP doctrine”?
