34141 | Can fallen angels repent? | Jude 1:6 | Brent Douglass | 4862
What passages in the Scriptures give clear indication as to whether or not any fallen angels are capable of repentance? It seems fairly obvious to me that they can not repent, but I'm confident that the Bible speaks more clearly on this than my "confidence" does? What do the Scriptures say on this?
34142 | Do We Worship On Our Knees Only? | Bible general Archive 1 | Searcher56 | 4853
Do we worship on our knees and face on the ground? Yes, like the Muslims do. I do not know if their heart is in it. We need to bow our heart, in reverence, too. Have we added - praise halal-Hebrew and hallelujah-Greek - service abad-Hebrew-, latreuo and latreia-Hebrew and other words, to our definition of worship? Do we include reverence sebomai-Greek without the phyiscal activity of prostration? I think we have. Not only because of our English definition, but, the translations we have. I see very few preachers and authors teach correctly. I rarely see anyone on their knees in worship. They may be praying, not worshipping. I can say this because I have spent six months on the study of worship. I forgot all I knew, then opened the Word without any study notes. I then looked at a lexicon and concordance to help, since I do not know the original. |

34143 | Can elders be divorced and still serve? | Titus 1:6 | 4841
Does this mean that an elder/pastor must never have been divorced, and if they have, do they forfeit their position in the church? The implications are staggering for a church striving to be holy and always in the true will of God!
34144 | Sectarians go to Hell? | Gal 5:20 | Percival | 4838
Dear members, This scripture, in the context of Gal.5:19-21 speaks of things that would negate our inheritance of the kingdom of God. Among them is 'factions' (also translated 'sect' in the NASB) - haireses, meaning choice, opinion, and the basis of the word heresy. My question is in two parts: 1-Does 'not inheriting the kingdom of God' mean going to Hell? (including heretics) and 2-Does not a goodly part of Christianity engage in sectarian practices? Praise the Lord! |

34145 | Church Leadership in Crisis | Bible general Archive 1 | 4842
My church has a pastor and an influential ex pastor who now is a deacon. They currently have a major disagreement that is upsetting many. The main issue is over salvation issues that is framed in the Dallas/Ryrie book So Great Salvation vs the reformation understanding of the gospel. The ex pastor is giving leadership to the minor but vocal opposition and will problably be successful in causing the current pastor to leave the church or be responsible for a church split. Do you have any biblical references on former leaders needing to leave when they resign or how former leaders should conduct themselves. How can a pastor lead when a former leader starts to lead again. Do you have access to any codes of ethics for pastors? Scott |

34146 | Q: Why? Why? Why?. A: Because. | Gen 1:1 | kalos | 4830
Have you noticed it's open season for WHY questions? To whom it may concern: When you ask "Why this?" and "Why that?," I don't know what you're getting at. Do you ask "Why" because: A) There are verses in the Bible that you don't believe? B) You won't accept any verse of the Bible unless it is explained to you? (God is not much in the business of answering "Why" questions. Does the thing made say to the One who made it,"Why"?) C) Is it that you do believe the Bible, but you are disagreeing with someone's interpretation of a particular verse or doctrine (which is your right as an American)? D) Or is there a 4th alternative answer to my question? |

34150 | Not preached on?? | Matt 26:13 | wdc | 4805
If I understand this verse, Jesus is saying that whenever the gospelis preached, what the woman did should also be spoken about. (Mat 26:13) Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her. Why don't we hear this story told when the gospel is preached? Why is it never mentioned in the Bible after this? later...wdc |

34152 | Scripture is clear if we are open, right | Acts 11:1 | sharp | 4795
How did the believing Jews know these Gentiles had received the Holy Spirit? How were they commanded to be baptized? Acts 10:44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all them thatheard the word. 45 And they of the circumcision that believed were amazed, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Spirit. 46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, 47 Can any man forbid the water, that these should not be baptized, who have received the Holy Spirit as well as we? 48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days. |

34153 | Is there another helper? | John 5:43 | Ray | 4778
John 5:32 says,"There is another who testifies of Me, and I know that the testimony which He gives about Me is true. John 5:43 says, "I have come in My Father's name, and you do not receive Me; if another comes in his own name, you will receive him." What would be your objection to capitalizing the word "another"? Would you agree with ..."if Another comes in His own name, you will receive Him."
34154 | Sisters to wear trousers or not??? | 1 Cor 11:5 | Benjibabs | 4780
I am writing from Nigeria, Africa. I needed to introduce myself this way because of the nature of my question. There is this believe within some churches here concerning women putting on trousers. Is there a bibilical backing that women should not wear trousers? Furthermore, covering of hair for sisters when praying is also another point of controversy. I will appreciate your different opinons and bible verses for support.
34155 | Bad kids all? | Prov 22:15 | wist ye not | 4981
We are always hearing how bad the kids are these days are there any comments on this devotion written by one? SATURDAY, May 5 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luke 5:27-39. Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick; I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentanceÉ At school there are a few kids who are always made fun of. It's been like that since we were in junior high. I usually don't tease those kids, but I don't stop the teasing either. Most often I think, I'm glad it is not me they are making fun of. I'm glad I am accepted, at least enough not to be the butt of everyone's jokes. Jesus liked to turn things around on the Pharisees. He reached out to the sinners, the shunned, because they needed it. The Pharisees had their own kind of righteousness -- self-righteousness. They didn't think they needed help, and they didn't want any. They had it all figured out. They felt better about their spiritual lives if they thought they were better than the sinners and tax collectors. But obviously, they're not. They looked down on others, and Jesus bypassed them and went to those who knew they needed his love. I'm not saying the kids that are made fun of are as bad as "sinners and tax collectors," but those that make fun of them, and those that don't do anything about it, like me, should look into our hearts and see if maybe we're the ones that need healing.
