261 | Truth or truth? I suggest truth to you. | 1 John 3:19 | Ray | 66388
This question concerns capitalization of the Truth. The Amplified version connects the Truth with His presence. I agree that the two words should be in agreement; in other words, I believe that if the NASB has "our heart before Him" then it should have Truth capitalized. However, I would like to suggest another way to understand this verse. May I have your reactions to this my personal rendering of 1 John 3:19, "We shall know by this that we are of the truth, and shall persuade our hearts with that same truth." 1 John 3:20,21, NKJ, "For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things. Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence toward God." Please consider Strong's #1715 in verse 19 before answering. From the heart, Ray |

262 | Are you a "mathetes" of Jesus? | Mark 13:31 | Ray | 65202
I see that this verse has not been discussed. The words of the verse can be found in Matthew 24:35 and Luke 21:33 as well. I see this as a wonderful companion/comparison verse. I see the three occurances as "mathematical" matches. I would like to have you look at them as a "mathetes" of Jesus. Perhaps we can even help the NKJ and NASB determine what is the most accurate rendering from the Greek of Mark 13:27 and Mark 14:3. Let's study "these things" and see that Jesus spoke here concerning the word of (God). Matthew 24:35, Luke 21:33, Mark 13:31, "Heaven and earth will pass away, but (My) words will not pass away." John 1:1, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with (God),..." From the heart, Ray |

263 | Five words with my mind? | 1 Tim 1:15 | Ray | 64434
The copy of my Interlinear Greek-English New Testament, Jay P.Green, editor says for 1 Timothy 1:15, "Faithful is the Word and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief." Is this rendering with its capitalization of "Word" a good one? Is it clear to you whether the Word [Deity] or whether the word of God, the Scriptures, are spoken of here? I am not familiar with Greek enough to know what other words besides "logos" could have been chosen to denote a saying or statement. Is Paul speaking "with his mind" [with his spirit] here? 1 Cor 14:19. |

264 | Who is open to the possibility of a h.s. | Titus 3:6 | Ray | 64338
Christians believe in the Trinity. The statement that the Holy Spirit is not an "it" is made and indeed needs to be affirmed. That said, who is open to the possibility that there is also a holy spirit that we indeed may call an "it"? Who would go with the Amplified version"s "which"? Does it indeed imply a holy spirit? |

265 | Holy Spirit or holy spirit? | Acts 5:32 | Ray | 63847
The manuscripts differ for this verse. This can be seen by the added *pronoun in the NKJ and KJV. NKJ, Acts 5:32, "And we are *His witnesses to these things, and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him." My question is two-fold. 1) Do you agree with the KJ and NKJ? 2) Is the other witness the Holy Spirit whom God has given; or is the other witness the holy spirit which God has given? From the heart, Ray |

267 | Why leave the waterpot? | John 4:28 | Ray | 63693

Are there any comments for this verse?
269 | Personal preference? Why? | Mark 6:34 | Ray | 62935
I have a personal preference for the rendering of Mark 6:33,34. Between the KJ/NKJ or NASB, which do you prefer?
270 | Fellowship of the Holy Spirit | 2 Cor 13:14 | Ray | 62577
Let"s talk about fellowship. What is 2 Corinthians 13:14 talking about when it says that may "the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit [holy spirit?] be with you all."
271 | How is your spirit shown? | Gal 6:18 | Ray | 62021
Paul says that he bears the brand-marks of Jesus "ON MY BODY". 2 Corinthians 4:9,10 says, "persecuted, but not forsaken, struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying about IN THE BODY the dying of Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested IN OUR BODY." I would be interested in hearing some reflections on this comparison of contrast and hearing some other verses that come to your minds. From the heart, Ray |

272 | A Greek study of houtos:Who is this One? | John 7:18 | Ray | 61160
I would like to talk about the Greek word "houtos", number 3778 in Strong's Concordance. Perhaps I can get some people to get out their Interlinear Greek versions for a discussion. What can we learn about "this One" who is true? Is this a proof text for the doctrine of the fact that Jesus is fully God and fully Man? From the heart, Ray |

273 | Receiving and accepting spiritual things | 1 Cor 2:14 | Ray | 60233
The NKJ in lieu of "accept" the things of the Spirit of God, reads, "But the natural man does not RECEIVE the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned." By using the word receive, it suggests to me, referring back to verse 12, where it talks about receiving not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit [spirit] from God. For verses 12 and 14 I have penciled in my personal copy "spirit" for both verses. I do this because I believe that they are talking about the gift rather than the Giver. This goes along with my belief that we are to be filled with the "holy spirit"; but we are indwelt by God Himself at conversion. The Spirit Himself came upon Jesus but Jesus also was filled with the holy spirit. From the heart, Ray |

274 | Did Judas know the One? | Matt 26:48 | Ray | 59863
The difference between "one" and "One" and the difference between the NASB and Amplified is that on which we will hinge our outlook for the eternal future of Judas. Did He know Jesus as the One or did he only say "Lord, Lord" and didn't do the things He said? I ask this question because I am reconsidering my position stated in past discussions of Judas Iscariot. I wonder if a Greek student can give us the renderings of the various manuscripts and teach about how the addition of one Greek letter can make "He it is" into "He is the One". I am afraid that Judas was just an acquaintance of Christ as shown by his "friendship"; and by the Greek word used by Jesus for friend. Did Judas know the One? If you feel that he did not know Him in the Garden, should we still not judge him because we do not know his final relationship? From the heart, Ray |

275 | My Angel? | Rev 22:16 | Ray | 59859
Restating #59842 The NKJ for Rev 22:16 reads, "I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star." I can see that this Bright Morning Star is Jesus. Who or what is the morning star of 2 Peter 1:19 and Revelation 2:38? From the heart, Ray |

What is your reaction to a comparison of Isaiah 30:29 and John 10:31? Is it the same as mine?
277 | Lord God, Lord Jesus, Lord Spirit? Amen | 2 Cor 3:18 | Ray | 58065
Here is a literal translation from an "Interlinear Greek-English New Testament", Jay P. Green, Editor. 2 Corinthians 3:18, "But we all with unveiled face beholding in a mirror the glory of (the) Lord are being changed (into) the same image from glory to glory, as from (the) Lord Spirit." Could I hear from a person knowledgeable in Greek concerning this verse about the Lord Spirit? From the heart, Ray |

278 | In simplicity and sincerity of God? | 2 Cor 1:12 | Ray | 57936
There are three godly things spoken of in 2 Corinthians. 1:12, "godly sincerity; 7:11, "godly sorrow"; and 11:2 "godly jealousy". I would like to hear what people think about these things. Would you be open to making the phrases "Godly"? This is a question of capitalization. From the heart, Ray |

280 | Does God stop us from expressing thought | Ex 32:32 | Ray | 57478
I don't know if that is the answer that is being sought or not. I would ask; does God stop us from praying any prayer? Thankfully, He doesn't answer everyone according to our requests. From the heart, Ray |
