801 | Need help with a bible verse | Bible general Archive 4 | serensoul | 210498
Help, do you know where this verse is in the bible? It gives an analogy about how birds are scared of humans and would only accept one of their own and it says that's why Jesus came in the form of a man to lead mankind, something to that nature. Any idea? |

805 | Need feedback on Genesis? | Bible general Archive 4 | thequickenenedone | 210563
I've finished reading the book of Genesis and so far this is what I've learned....God chose Abraham to the beginning line of His people. Abraham had Isaac, Isaac had Jacob, and Jacob was the father of the 12 sons (the 12 tribes of Israel/Jacob). People knowing and seeing this family "growing and multiplying" as God's people, gained them (the Israelites) a certain amount of resentment and bitterness for being the chose people of God. (One example is Jacob's own brother, Esau marrying 2 Cannanite women; the Cannaanite's were pagans.) My question is, does this sound right? Feedback would be great, thanks. If there's anyone else who's well "versed" on their Bible studies that could comment to what I've written, that'd be great. |

806 | Is the culmination of days upon us? | Bible general Archive 4 | MWLaine | 210584
I want to ask a question of my fellow Christian brethren... If media or people in general started to refer to a political candidate as "The Messiah" and that political candidate professes to be a Christian don't most of you think that a saved Christian would find the suggestion extremely repugnant? And if people were refering to any one of you as "The Messiah" would you not set the record straight, immediately? How is it possible that Jeremiah Wright should be given a pass at the filth he spews from the pulpit? Should the 20-year association of a pastor to his congregant Obama be shrugged off and assumed to have no affect on the character of Obama, who aspires to the office of president? Shouldn't the community of Christians stand up and condemn Wright and his entire congregation including Obama? Is there anyone here on this site who has not been questioning what they are seeing in regards to one Barack Hussein Obama? I know I have...but regardless the outcome of tomorrows elections I pray that Gods plan unfolds and we who profess to love Jesus are able to play a part in what I consider evidence of the culmination of the game. I ask God to strengthen each and everyone of you who believe in Jesus and the pray that your mouth is opened freely to snatch as many as possible from the fate of eternal damnation. Amen. |

808 | Are old words proper for Scripture? | Bible general Archive 4 | gruvEdude | 210613
Use of old words for Scripture: When have old words ever been used in scripture? (When God gave the ten commandments, were Adam's older words, etc., used?) Dr. Samuel Gipp gives an example, but it is of humans using archaic words. When has God done so? Leading your own business, what would you think if your secretary sent out your memos with 17th century words, your sales staff shalt approach clients in this manner, etc.? As stewards, when is it right to use old words if they've never been used? With (worldly) television, it is pretty easy to turn the channel from the 17th century. Should that time be reverenced; why or why not? Think of Abraham pleading for Sodom and Gomorrah. If there are 50 in the whole universe that practice 17th century words, may they be wise today. 5 less than 50. 5 less ... |

811 | Christian principles | Bible general Archive 4 | Milena | 210686
Thank you John. I'll try your suggestion. Did you use worldlingo with the sentence you wrote in Spanish? Or do you speak Spanish? I have a new question: How can I find Principles in the Bible? I want to start teaching a group of kids about Christian Principles (moral principles would be a good start). How do I find them? Is there any tip to recognize them? I have the impression commandments and principles are different, because if I violate one commandment it's a sin, but not necessarily if I don't apply a principle... or am I wrong?.. please help me. Is Christianity becoming Christless in America? Micheal Horton writes, "I think that the church in America today is so obsessed with being practical, relevant, helpful, succesful, and perhaps even well-liked that it is nearly mirris the world itself. Aside from the packaging, there is nothing that cannot be found in most churches today that could not be satisfied by any number of secular programs and self-help groups." 819 | Similar Barak in Judges - Barack Obama. | Bible general Archive 4 | saved4ever | 210752
Today I was made aware that the name Barak is in the bible. Judges 4 and 5. I thought it was quite interesting and began to read the chapter as well as some of the commentaries you have available. Is it a coincidence that Barack Obama is the first African American President? And Deborah, a prophetess, in Judges sent for Barak to free the Israelites. And God considered Barak a faithful man. Although the spellings of the two names are somewhat different, the similarities are striking. Am I reading too much into this? Thank you |
