422 | how do i convince my wife to follow me | Bible general Archive 4 | valspapa | 198587
i was saved 13 months ago and have been attending the church that my wife was membered at.the pastor is my wifes brother-in-law.the problem is that it is not growing and is somewhat -rednecked- it is really countryfied with bibbed overall mentality.everyone there is lacking in education [that is not the reason for my concerns]but it adds to the delima.the pastor is really bullish and after ten years of service, last sundays attendance was 12 including the pastor and his wife.the singing is really lousy with people forgetting the words, some who sing each week behind the alter sing the same songs each week with the words or hymnal still mess up constantly,i feel that they could at least practice and get it right,[after all, this is our lord we sing about and we are in his house]GET IT RIGHT.i have convinced my wife we need to move on to somewhere more godly. but her sister has already started in on her with the remark that god will beat me up for leaving,i cant say that they are lacking in the lord, for it is not my desire to knock anyone down.there is a need for sure to teach everyone, but my wife and i are not growing,if i must go on without my wife,so be it but,i fear that as i learn more and she stays behind, that it will cause more problems between us,i want for her as much as i want for myself,,please advise
423 | Christian and receiving Heaven or not | Bible general Archive 4 | cjhays | 198594
My biggest question ins this. Do you think God frowns on people or they won't enter Heaven if they are smokers.?. I really don't see anything in the Bible about pipe cigar/cigarette smoking. But it does cause Cancer along with many other things out there. But I really would like to get some input on what people think of smokers and being a Christian and if that influences the Kingdom of Heaven or not. Thanks for your time and thoughts on this matter. Yours in Christ
424 | i have offended | Bible general Archive 4 | valspapa | 198600
it seems i have offended some by yearning to be in a church with broader goals and more concern for serving the lord in a harmonious, and grander fashion than the one i just left. forgive me for wanting to honor my lord by preparing my song rather than to just walk to the alter and sound off with shreiking out of tone words that are sometime forgotten due to lack of practice. it is obvious to me that this church has many members who leave there desire to please the lord behind when they walk out of it's doors. I dont feel the spirit while in this church. not to mention the fact that the devil himself on several occasions has made it to the pulpit, i have been saved for only 13 months but i do know that scorning and ridiculing from the alter is not god like.to stand at the alter and boast of how you gave 20.00 to a man for giving you a jump start is not godly.paying one for servives rendered does not make one holy.i pray for each person i ever met through this church and if it is enough for there salvation. then god bless them.i myself yearn for more than this bulish paster can give. i am hungry and thirsty for words he cant give

426 | . God, who is omnipotent, could have us | Bible general Archive 4 | jingjing | 198667
. God, who is omnipotent, could have used a more extraordinary means of spreading His Word (i.e. writing it in stone on a side of the mountain, light the sky with words, etc) but instead used ordinary people to spread His Word. Why is that? |

427 | Seeking God | Bible general Archive 4 | LJ777 | 198701
Can anyone tell me, when we seek God do we do so by reading the bible and prayer, or do we do so by seeking to do good and in turn seek Gods favor? I'm just really tired of not being sure of which direction to take and I would really like to seek Jesus Christ, but I am not sure in what way would please Him the most so that I can get His attention. I believe salvation is more than a prayer, it is a life change. I want the life change, I want the adventure of being a follower of Jesus Christ. Without it I don't know what I will do. How can I prove to God and myself that I really want Him. Why does it seem so hard? LJ777 |

434 | exegesis allegoric vs literalist being d | Bible general Archive 4 | mightilycalled | 199032
hi doc, Please may i ask, how do you know God never intended eternity and infinity of meanings to stream from the initial primary context Q this is the argument by allegory parallelism exegetes and other interpreters if Jesus is the Incarnation of the Word as flesh, then the fact he use figures of speech could lead us to realize the depth of meaning of not just the OT but also the NT, in dual and higher overtones of overlapping significance of meaning for me, this is powerful as the Bible stands alone in a class of her own, it is for me THE crystal ball where language and thought come together powerfully to give foresight and foretaste of unfolding world history and Gods will my support from www-- THIS EXCERPT FROM http www.torreys.org bible nomencla.htm 4) Philo the exegete Only in one text is Philo directly referred to as --exegete-- (though more as a description than as a title), namely in the Syriac writer Barh adbsabba cArbaya, who regards him as founder of the Alexandrian school of exegesis, and the one whose example led the great Origen astray.39 Other texts, however, point towards the same aspect of his literary activity. ... |

435 | prophet defined by greekstudybible.org | Bible general Archive 4 | mightilycalled | 199048
from greekstudybible.org definition of prophet in NT and OT i think what i spelled out earlier in my prophetic assertions and scripture support fits in exactly and well, thanks prophet -s one who speaks forth openly before any one, a proclaimer of a divine message; among the heathen, an interpreter of the oracle. In the lxx. it is the translation of the earlier øàä, seer, showing that what really constituted the prophet, was immediate intercourse with God it is the ordinary word for , which means, either one in whom the Divinity permits his word to spring forth,---- or one to whom anything is whispered.--- The usage, however, of the word is clear; it signifies one on whom the Spirit of God rested (Num 11:17,25,26,29)... any alternative readings? |

437 | i dont get your point please write far m | Bible general Archive 4 | mightilycalled | 199091
my point for point questioning resumes below: he was speaking... rationally true, in many areas but then it was to them (thee), even then if it was so clear why was Chri.st rejected when he was born and grew up as he was and did not us (you, ye, kjv) the world has changed drastically over 2000 years agriculture, fishing etc are not dominant in the first world there were points and even whole chapters where God, it appears, speaks irrationally, in figures of speech to us. eg Job, out of the thunder, Ezekiel 1,-secular critics of Ezekiel 1 say he may have been an extremely deranged schizo to experience all that, to St. Peter with the living creatures vision and SIGN to go mix with the Gentiles and eventually be rebuked by St.Paul for his stumbling sin in this. 2 true, there is only one PRIMARY interpretation, but there is INFINITUDE of overtones as to what the unbelievers and less faithful are misled to think. From here we can VERY LOGICALLY speculate accurately or at least as a discipline, in incrementally-progressively greater achievements of accuracy of prediction of unfolding world history and future details and other phenomena over time. eg Isaac Newton, Galileo, widely and deeply Bible conscious antiCs are eg da Vinci, Einstein Revd. Dake, in Gods Plan for Man, a book, quoted sb. eminent in declaring the Bible to be the best library for philosophy i have found Ecclesiastes alone to be the best Philosophy-Prophecy manual luke 24:27 can be interpreted in my allegoric way too. consider Isaiah, Psalms 1-10 im not clear what exegesis is. one pastor i know says it means dissecting and dissecting to derive meaning that not everybody can apprehend (Assembly of God, Asia). my Bible-Presbyterian pastor says the key reason for my imaginative errant interpretations is my absence of knowledge in this area thanks for your prompt help, sorry for not responding sooner, this hopefully is an interim answer embodying my reservations as to the efficaciousness of literalism whatever it really does. i feel it robs analytical-minded seekers of parallel truth reservoirs of the chance to find Christ out satisfyingly i will look at #15-- and #17-- in your last answer later when i have more time and less tired, thanks i have 2 serious medical conditions, asthma, incurable being one of them and i need to build stamina over at least 7 hours to concentrate without disruption. i am glad you understand |

438 | ?mt 11:12 Kingdom violence ?today | Bible general Archive 4 | mightilycalled | 199105
the light shines on in the darkness, which has not mastered it, the light-John 1 this could be understood allegorically though secondarily, typologically, numerologically, symbolically, whatever as modern pious Jews like to say and write, preach and proclaim that the world opinion surrounds the propogation of the Gospel and NT Prophecy, yet they misappropriate it so in my opinion as a NT prophet who i believe i am and am partially accepted as so by some Christians in local churches, you have to decidedly NOT ignore these misinterpretations and miscommunications to understand the signs of today prophetically pointing to Jesus return. they EQUALLY constitute reality; they are real beliefs, though unbeliever or misguided beliefs |
